  • Hi Everyone and welcome back to my channel. Today we are testing audio from both the dji mic and the purple panda when attached to a motorcycle helmet. After reviewing the footage I noticed an issue with the purple panda causing clicking noises throughout at faster speeds.

Thanks for that useful comparison, the DJI mic sounds very good. I'm currently playing with a mic setup and bought a lav mic but found it ok at slow speed but as you pick up speed to 60mph plus it starts to crackle and pick up the wind and becomes quite poor quality. As I had a few iphone 6 hands-free earphone cables lying around, and they have a mic in the lead, I decided to try one of those. I cut the earphones off and just used the jackplug to mic section. After testing I found the clarity of voice to be excellent even at high speed and no crackling. It picked up some wind noise but nothing extreme and it certainly doesn't affect how loud and clear my voice is. To be fair I just taped it into the chinbar of my flip front as a trial and so it wasn't insulated against the wind, so with a dead cat over it there should be an improvement. It's a cheap option well worth giving a try as so many people probably have one lying around.

Yes the DJI sounded tons better.
But the mics were in different locations!!!
I've had a PP for a year now and super had with it in my iphone12pm. But I dint like wires. After listening yo tons of reviews I've just bought a Fulaim X5 which to me sounded just as good as the DJI & Rode Wireless Go2.
While I love the X5 the sound is better with the PurplePanda. Best of all with PP plugged directly into the phone.

The DJI sounds much better. I just bought the DJI Mic 2 and was looking for a good spot to mount it on my SHARK helmet. Did not think about the chin strap. By the sound of it, it is a good mounting position

I don't know why everyone is shilling for this Purple Panda microphone. The quality I get is awful when going 3.5mm to USB-C into a DJI Osmo Action 4. Tried a wide dB range. At speed, the mic is barely audible. At a standstill, it sounds like the mic is in my mouth while I am talking.

You have to add the 3.5mm to TRS adapter. It comes with the Purple panda kit.

@@Six5Rider Bought the Osmo Action 3.5mm Audio Adapter and get positive results. Had to also use the TRS conversion cable in the Panda kit.

I have gain set to -5 but it came this way from factory. Float on and that’s about it.
