I wish I had this recipe a long time ago! With the amount of scrap paper I've just thrown away over the years I could've made so many ornaments to give as christmas gifts (and saved a lot of money) Thanks for the inspiration, I'm really enjoying all of your videos 🩵
I bet this paper clay would work in reptile enclosures for adding texture to smooth decor like perches and plain hides if you seal it after it dries. I believe I’ll try it! ☺️💕
@@Artzandcatz Oh yes I’ve definitely seen them, along with using plastic Tupperware, air drying clay, etc. I just figured if you’re on a budget and have the ingredients for this on hand, which most of us normally do, then it’d be great to try it. I have lots of paper from my kids being in school so I thought why not try it and see how it goes? I’ll be recycling unneeded paper and creating reptile decor at the same time. You think it’ll be a bad idea even if I seal it really well? I’ve got a large container full of water based sealant that’s for sure safe to use around reptiles. It’s heat resistant as well so no fumes or fire hazards.
@@WVgrl59 Thank you for sharing your experience! I really appreciate your input and I’ll definitely be trying this in some capacity for my reptiles. I also have a 3D pen I’m excited about learning to use to try to make my own magnetic ledges and maybe even some hides, or at least the “bones” of them.
Great video! Now I have something else for my (your) booklet! Paper is one thing I have plenty of & my shredder will be glad to cut the paper. I really like the look for rustic decor & I'm rustic to the bone. 😊Thanks for sharing your creativity. See you next time. God bless you. 🥰
I have a question about sizing graphic to fix your project. I bought several of your quotes online but I want to make them bigger, my question is will the quote be printed on more than one piece of paper. I keep noticing the collectible sign in your opening videos and thinking that must of taken 2 sheets, bare with me I’m learning and I love your show, your ideas seem to come so easy for you. Keep up the great work! Kim
Can you speed up the drying process by putting the wet pieces in the oven for a couple hours at a warm temperature? Or would it make them more likely to crack?
I am thinking about using a form of paper clay to build up the front of a mask I plan to wear for Cosplay, to make it flat, because I built it with a nose for comfort, but the final design does not have a visible nose sticking out the front. Will this work for that, and will it dry lightweight and maintain a semi flexible bend, as the material I am using (Some Italian paper mache soft paper, I can’t remember the name of.) dry’s semi flexible?
@@OurUpcycledLife Must be my wool paper then because it dries flexible for me, and feels no different from the same paper being dry if I paper mache the normal way.
@@OurUpcycledLife Thank you, I realised that after I had contacted you. Good stuff though, well makes use of 'rubbish' paper xx Jean from Scotland..... God Bless

Have you seen the videos on how to use foam to form decor for reptiles? I have two boas ❤

I have used stuff like this and even mixed in some dry plaster just to see and it makes it extremely hard.

@@kerseykrewzoo I think it’ll be fine! This recipe is great because it is safe for reptiles!
Those brown paper trays that come in boxes are also good to make clay with.
Yes they would work perfect thanks so much for
I was glad I seen this I've had saved some corrugated egg cartons to do something with and now I know what I want to do with it.
Great idea thanks so much for watching Cindy
I wish I had just an 1/8th of your level of creativity! Thank you for sharing your amazing upcycle diy ideas and tutorials ❤️
Wow, thank you!
Excellent recipe! Thank you!!
I have made some home made silicone moulds using your recipe and they turned out WONDERFUL!! Thank you so much!!❤
Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed
I just put white glue and a little less wallpaper glue (powder) and that's it and it comes out very nice
Recipe: (double up if you want more.)
Glue - 4 Tbspn (tablespoon)
Corn starch- 1 tbspn
Baking powder- 1/4 tspn (teaspoon) or two good pinches
Vinegar- 1 tbspn
Salt- 1/2 tbspn
Oil (any will do)- 1/2 tbspn
how much paper?
I like being able to upcycle used paper. Thanks bunches.
Glad you enjoyed Agnes thanks for watching
Could you explain the purpose of the salt, vinegar, and baking powder? Trying to figure out what to adjust for my own purposes. THanks!
All needs for this recipe to work

Thanks so much Susie glad you enjoyed
thank you so much I'm having a sleepover later today and I can't wait for me and my friend to make some clay crafts.
Have fun!!!
Do you think you could return to using your emersion blender when you're incorporating the pulp and glue mixture?
Yes you might be able to use it I just usually finish it off with my hands
To mix: use your KitchenAid mixer with a dough-hook! EZ-peezy,.... and very consistent!
Oh yes that would make it easy I don’t have a KitchenAid but I’ll be on the lookout for one when I’m out thrifting
Looks like a great recipe. Thanks again Diedre for another fun project. 😊🤗😙😗😘❤

Yes that’s exactly I just size it up sometimes it takes two or three sheets to make a graphic
Very interesting way of making "clay". Thanks for sharing. But I'm not sure if I'm going to try this.
Yes it’s a different recipe if you have lots of scrap paper it works perfect to use some of it up
Can you do this with cards to keep paper.?
Yes you could
I really enjoyed this video. Have you ever thought about publishing a book with all of the tips and tricks? I know it would do well. Lol. ♥️♥️
I have a recipe booklet of all of my favourite paint recipes that I just finished if you’re interested www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1291220093/

Thanks so much for the kind words I appreciate it
Can this be used for making earrings??
Yes you can
We used to se flour and water with ripped up paper when I was at school.
Was it the oil that makes it take so long to dry? I wonder.
Thanks D for this video (all of yours ofcorse) can't wait to try it. I'll come back and ya know how I do.
Can you speed up the drying process by putting the wet pieces in the oven for a couple hours at a warm temperature? Or would it make them more likely to crack?
I have not done that, but I think it would make the clay crack for sure
This is an AWESOME recycling idea! Thank you 😊

That explains the vinegar. Excellent thank you! (:

doesn't adding vinegar and baking soda negate the effects of both?
Lovely idea! I thought the finished shapes looked like stone 😉
Yes they do look a little bit like stone thanks for watching glad you enjoyed
Does it dry without forming mould ?
Yes
That’s a brilliant idea

If you keeping mixing for longer, will it become more smooth like store bought clay? Tfs Deidre❤
Yes it probably would become smoother if you mix it more I like the primitive look of it a little bit chunky
@@OurUpcycledLife just wondering!!❤
So cute!
Is there any kind of paper that would not work well for clay making?
No you can use any type of paper just as long as you mix it up really well and blend it
What a fun idea! I will have to try this.
Thanks for watching Pam glad you enjoyed
can you use flake salt? aka kosher salt?
Yes you sure can
What a great hack!! ❤👍👍
Thanks for watching glad you
Thanks for sharing this recipe :)

My clay turned out a bit crumbly. What could i do to correct it? My class is trying to make fish for a diorama and they don't hold their shape well.
You could add a bit more glue
Great video
Thanks for the visit
Does this spoil?
I have not had any issues
Interesting
Thanks for watching glad you
What was the weight of the original paper?
It was a mixture of different papers
