      There are so many fun places in the Netherlands. Like ‘ Walibi’ / ‘Efteling’ or like ‘Valkenburg rodelbaan’ / ‘Valkenburg kabelbaan’. Or if you like nature: ‘De Veluwe’ or ‘De noordoost polder’ for beautiful flowers✨

    :D HAHA pancake with chicken gravy??? probably just for tourists. 90% of pancakes is naturel/cheese bacon/apple and we put powdered sugar or stroop on them. Poffertjes should be eaten with butter and powdered sugar.. not whipped cream or other weird combo´s. It's like going to japan and eat sushi with ketchup, or in america eat burgers with soy sauce. The originals are the best.

    • @thernymous
      @thernymous 11 месяцев назад

      Pannekoekenhuizen everywhere, even well outside of tourist traps, have been serving ragout pancakes (and 'weird combo' pancakes) for a long time. That's kinda the entire idea behind pannekoekenhuizen: get pancakes with fillings and toppings you wouldn't soon make at home.

    • @pmvdmeulen
      @pmvdmeulen 11 месяцев назад +1

      @thernymous ehmm nope. They offer more options, so you think you have a choice, but only the creepy uncle orders the weird thing. Often canned things. 90% of the pancakes sold are with apple cheese bacon or plain. That's how most restaurants operate.. put some weird expensive things on the menu to give the illusion of choice, so 90% of the people choose the less expensive value for money option. Like the combo menu at a Chinese restaurant.. 90% will eat babi pangang, foe jong hai, tjaptjoy, sate instead of the expensive options.

    • @alexanderpasnl
      @alexanderpasnl 11 месяцев назад +2

      It's more your opinion while you bring it as if everyone thinks it is. Then again, for a lot of Dutch people that's also kind of a tradition. People love to create this image as if it's typical Dutch. The pancake has been around in the Netherlands from before 1600 and of course no one had ever heard of powder sugar, sirup or jelly back then. Pancakes were used as a basis for mostly meat and later cheeses. The sweet varieties were way later. Depending on where you live in the Netherlands, you know there more outside of Amsterdam, it also differs how pancakes are being eaten and what people see as traditional. We eat it a lot with veil meat and kind of the same filling as a kroket called ragout. I think that's more traditional. But the touristic idea is pushed to sweetness. It's succeeding if even the Dutch think that's original.

    I live in the Netherlands and used to work in Amsterdam for 13 years. I can understand when tourists come to the Netherlands and visit Amsterdam they all go to the same place in every vlog.
    All those “dutch street food” we buy that in the supermarket.
    In Amsterdam they charge you like 4-5x price compared to those in the supermarket. Capital city tourist prices
    Restaurant like Moeder is something I would go too to experience dutch food in restaurant setting. But still dutch food is so boring because the food was made for the hard working miners and farmers back in the day (high carb high fat potato cream sausage) and has not involved ever since 😅.

      It isn't, but for tourists there's not that much outside of it. The nice things to do are visiting the delta works, the caves in the south and maybe the 'traditional' dutch villages like Volendam or Urk.
      You can go to cities like Utrecht or Den Bosch, and while they are nice cities, they are also just that: cities, that you find everywhere else in the world.
      Amsterdam is so nice for tourists cause there's so much things to do in a small space, like all the great musea, the old architecture, the RLD, a lively nightlife scene, etc. The only other Dutch city i'd really recommend for this is The Hague, because that city also has a lot of historic buildings and great musea to check out.

      And.. only dutch people can treat them as proper dinner. We're the odd ones out: most of the world that has sweet pancakes treats them as either breakfast or dessert option, not as meal replacement.

    Pancakes are not for breakfast! Should've saved those for lunch of dinner. Most pancake restaurants aren't even open for breakfast. They open around 10 or 11 to fet a cup of coffee.

      I only never would go to a restaurant like Moeders because they serve dishes that we just make at home (except the lobster soup). And the pancake with the chicken gravy. But the rest is not only for tourists, the Dutch eats those regularly.

      What!? What Dutch person hasn't eaten stroopwafels, pannenkoeken, bamischijf, kaassoufflé, bitterballen, kipsaté, poffertjes, stamppot, boerenkool, hachee? They may have gotten them from touristy places, but the foodstuffs are definitely Dutch.
