It's a shame the train crew didn't realise Cyril was trying to alert them that there was danger up ahead. What was supposed to be a happy time of the year for many families, became exactly the opposite for them as they'd lost loved ones in this tragedy. To the families of the people who died, Christmas is now another anniversary of the train crash. The young lady who was found deceased and carried into the church, she looked like she was in her 20s.
For those wondering the crash represented here is pretty accurate. The guy tried to warn the train, it's unclear what the crew thought since they died in the accident. Investigators did reveal that the train controls showed they did try to stop but the warning was futile. The distance and speed the train was moving, there was no way for them to stop in time.

Even if he did apply the brakes when he saw Cyril, it still wouldn't have been enough to stop the train from going over the bridge. It was going too fast and was pulling too much weight. @@thewillofabeast9079 That’s why part of the reason behind this terrible wreck has gotta be that they more likely wouldn’t have stopped the train until they saw the raging currents of the river just ahead of them. So a train that long, that close to what would be the the edge of the bridge, and running full steam ahead at 40 miles per hour (64 kilometers/hour), I can understand why we learn what happened this terrible night. Pretty good action scene, but it has a problem. Why are the electric lights still illumination the train car after it crashes into the river. I don't think those cars of that time had battery's to light the cars.
Most likely the firebox. The KA locomotives (the 949 being a KA class as well) burned oil instead of coal. So it's possible some oil still burning spilled out of the firebox after the locomotive crashed

@@choppersworld5094 It's more of a love story movie so you can't just say it sucks
The bridge collapsed caused by a implosion causing a rapid mud flow minutes before they crossed and it caused the bridge to break
This is utterly horrifying. 4:08 my heart literally stoped. The sounds of the engine and coaches smashing into the side of the embankment was just so violent. 😢
And paired with the endless screaming? Jesus Christ.

South Africa and one wicket down thanks to mr. bob Lear and batoni!

This was the worst day to die on in the year: the day of joy, the birthday of Jesus, Christmas.
Thomas and friends narrator: “luckily no one was hurt but the train died”
Choo choo
That is so sad to see those poor people die RIP
Too add insult to injury the engineer and fireman try to use their weight on the brakes to stop the train but the train was traveling too fast and it was pull 11 damn coaches so the weight mess up the brakes strength to stop or slow down 949 but the accident shouldn't had happened if the engineer didn't ignore the man flagging him down.
Even if he did apply the brakes when he saw Cyril, it still wouldn't have been enough to stop the train from going over the bridge. It was going too fast and was pulling too much weight. If the train was a couple miles away when it happened, then it would've been able to stop on time. But it's still sad :(
@@Gearz-365 Not just that but there are a lot of people who tend to do crazy things, they probably thought he was crazy, unfortunately that wasn’t the case
I LOVE THIS
One of the all-time great movie train wrecks; RIP to those who died in the real wreck... 😢😢😢😢
Rose McIver (Nerissa Love) done a great job in this movie. this was before she became more noticeable in the US
"Stop the f'xking train" last words before new zeland mate disaster
Rip the passengers of the train
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
It’s a shame the engineers didn’t stop when they saw the guy frantically trying to wave them down
I feel like it wouldn't have made a difference, that part of track is straight and long, they'd be running top speed, maybe less people would've died but still
Wait a second I saw you drachinifel's
Battle of hampton roads episode now here?
Edit: also I hope your pun (you thought it was Merrimac but it was i Virginia) made you proud
@@penkagenova7073 Why yes, yes it did
They were just confused. They probably thought he was crazy or something, when it’s the dead of night and it happening really quickly, you tend to be more confused then cautious.
Especially to those 151 souls of the 285 on board.
🙀why.... Train is died😿
WAIT WHY THEY DIDNT USE SAND??!?!?!?!

December 24th 1953 Christmas eve
Pretty good action scene, but it has a problem. Why are the electric lights still illumination the train car after it crashes into the river. I don't think those cars of that time had battery's to light the cars.
Ayo what’s that fire from?
Probably the locomotive
Most likely the firebox. The KA locomotives (the 949 being a KA class as well) burned oil instead of coal. So it's possible some oil still burning spilled out of the firebox after the locomotive crashed
