Ecclesiastes is my favorite book, for sure. It is a brilliant building of a Tower of Babel, of sorts, by Solomon. Just how close can we get to what God provides us in purpose and direction purely based on human reasoning? That tower of worldly philosophy is shown to be far too short to bring man to the purpose and fulfillment that God can provide him.

Ecclesiastes is my favorite book. 1:9 is my favorite verse “…there is nothing new under the sun.” Such a comfort to know everything we face today is nothing new. Those who fear the Lord and are wise to look to the past and are comforted.

Jesus said there WILL be trials and tribulations, so Dr. Baucham is spot on. Ecclesiastes was written by King Solomon via the Holy Spirit just like every Book from Genesis to Revelation. Solomon wrote this Book and Proverbs while living under the Law, but the law/commands/ decrees of God were written by Moses. The Law that Jesus fulfilled for us because we are too sinful, rebellious and weak. Give God all the glory!

When first saved, i was told that Ecclesiastes, was considered the most difficult book to understand. I was told the same thing about reading mere christianity. I found both, to be clear, sensible, and quite easy to get. Im 62, i can use the phones to call, and get on a web site, beyond that, i do NOT, wish to know these things. When introduced in 2007, i said emphatically, that these things mean big trouble. I naturally go to paper maps. See, tech, is like a man, running down a hill. I can PROMISE, IF HE IS NOT CAREFUL, AND RUNS TOO FAST, HE WILL FACE PLANT, HEAD OVER TEA KETTLE, HARD. Same with tech. Tech is knowledge, but not wisdom.wisdom, can only be good. Knowledge can be good, or evil, equally. Bad knowledge teaches us, in a different direction.

Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Basically, this verse teaches that the fear of God is foundational to true wisdom; all other types of learning are worthless unless built upon a knowledge of the Lord Himself. Many other passages talk about the fear of the Lord (e.g., Psalm 111:10; Proverbs 1:7; 14:27; 15:33). Before we can understand how the fear of the Lord leads to wisdom, we need to define what the Bible means by “fear” in this context.

    POINTS I MADE THROUGHOUT:
“Stop looking for hidden sins every time something goes wrong” (there may be one but stop looking for curses) - learn to think biblically!
God intends for us to seek wisdom and knowledge.
Solomon was wise and knowledgeable because he was RELENTLESS (devoted his heart) to studying everything!
Wisdom and knowledge have their limits, he has tried but failed. No one can be fulfilled by wisdom and knowledge alone.
“We cannot solve every problem” (vs.13)
“You will never be wise enough or have enough knowledge to defeat death” (Matthew 8)
Knowledge is insufficient without the knowledge of God
There is wisdom that is wicked…
“All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden IN Christ”
37:49 powerful questions and deep stuff‼️
“Are you pursuing wisdom so that you could get stuff or so that you could know God?”

    1 Kings 3:1-15
Lord appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.”
6 Solomon answered, “You have shown great kindness to your servant, my father David, because he was faithful to you and righteous and upright in heart. You have continued this great kindness to him and have given him a son to sit on his throne this very day.
7 “Now, Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties. 8 Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number. 9 So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
10 The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. 11 So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, 12 I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. 13 Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for-both wealth and honor-so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings. 14 And if you walk in obedience to me and keep my decrees and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life.” 15 Then Solomon awoke-and he realized it had been a dream.

I love Voddie but I’m not understanding. I have been doing a study on Proverbs and this is what I ascertain. There is a worldly wisdom which tends to be what we would consider knowing or knowledge. (Acts 7:22) But wisdom leads us unto righteousness, the wisdom of God (Jesus Christ). This wisdom helps us to live soberly, live righteously and to exact the right justice(judgement) proverbs 31 . 1-9. Now the dark sayings in Proverbs are not promises in the sense of (training up a child in a way they will go and they will not depart from it) but there are many in proverbs that are.

I fell in love with Ecclesiastes exactly for the reason pastor Voddie says most do not like it. It hit me earlier this year as I did my morning devotional and I realized that a while hearted pursuit of wisdom was the source of Solomon’s wisdom. Not a natural endowment. I saw clearly that Solomon pursued pleasure and gained wisdom in that pursuit. I saw the beauty in gaining experience and pursuing life in full, with the understanding that we will be brought into judgment for our errors in the pursuit (Ecclesiastes 11:9)

WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE WITHOUT DISCERNMENT IS NONSENSE. Solomon is the best example of that.
He is considered the wisest man on earth after Jesus, and he sinned badly against God having 1,000 women who turned his heart after other gods.
He had 700 wives, who were princesses, and 300 concubines. And his wives turned away his heart. For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father. (1 King 11:3-4 ESV)

Vodie, I like you, I like your preaching, but using the "moon landing" to make a point is foolish, using the "covid 19" bug to make a point is foolish..
Use examples that are real, not fake

Guides us to make choices that are right for the relationship we want with Jesus while surviving in a world full of sin without getting sucked into the world of the flesh without falling. And MOST of all that GOD is in charge NOT US!!!

Just reading the comments has me sure I don't want to listen to the sermon. So many lost souls. Why are there so many denominations...... then they have to change due to the limited number of "Christians". UGH everyone let's their ego into this starting with Martin Luther and the Reformation...... owing to the sinful nature of man that permeated the early Church. Made it so easy for the LESSER demons to work to this day............ I say lesser as Lucifer and his lieutenants can't be bothered with low hanging fruit. Read the Bible but pray to the Holy Spirit to enter and bring Blessings and enlightenment.

Im praying you read this. Theres a young preacher out there thats going to gay pride gatherings & its so disturbing. He is not ready. They talk sinful circles around him & he caves. He has no scripture to show them the errs in their beliefs. To my horror, he agrees with them. He means well. They say blasphemous things & he says, yeah. They end up preaching evil to him & he has nothing to come back with. He needs guidance. Please! Its so hard to watch. Its awful. He doesnt come off like he believes what he,s saying. After when he comments on how well it went. No it did not. It went well for the devil. Your a great man in God. He needs your help. Thank you.

It's not Jesus Christ but it's Yahusha Hamasheuac and the father's name is YAHUWA. Ninty nine and a half won't do. You are a wonderful teacher but you need to continue to study the truth. God 🙏 bless you.

Made our own kites, lanterns, spinning tops, pea shooters, and who could catch the first evening dew (using - metal, glass or stoneware - saucer or plate), raced to outrun the rain; never bored.

    I love Ecclesiastes!!
9: 3 - This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.
4For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
5For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
6Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
7Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.
8Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment.
9 Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.
