My cousins always had Sindy dolls. Always thought there was something more friendly and childlike about them compared to the more grown up Barbie. A great choice and a great job Dave.
But...but...that's a GIRL'S toy! LOL. Nice job Dave and great that you've learnt, and now shared, the method. Talking of learning, the other day I restored a Denys Fisher Giant Robot figure and was smiling to myself at the number of methods I was using that I had learnt from watching you- lighter fluid for cleaning, crochet hook for re-stringing, and so on. Thank you!
Thanks for showing this quite fascinating process Dave. My sister had several Sindy dolls and even a couple of Barbies and we would regularly tear off their heads to try and work out how the hair threading was done. My sister's Sindys and Barbies always made really good girlfriends for my Action Man dolls... That is until they all got covered in tin foil and converted into Cybermen!
Reminds me of the time my brother and I gave 1 of our sister's Barbies a buzz cut, stuck an England badge cut from our Dad's paper on 1 of her red tops and sat her on the telly during England games during the World Cup, or Euros, as a mascot. Our sister was less happy with 'Barbie Gazza' than we were 🤣
Awesome work. You can see how much love and planning was put into this project. While I would not have any interest in acquiring a Sindy doll for my collection, your project just opened the door to a wider range of possibilities across the board. Thank you for sharing this with us all!
Thank you very much! It's good to learn all sorts of skill as you never know when you'll need them. This was a really fun project to do. So glad it turned out how I wanted.
Dave you can see this has stretched your imagination, skills and creativity to its limits. One thing you possess that I'd wager none of us would have is the patience of a saint to thread all that hair and then get those buns looking right. It looks amazing, what a custom to have created for your collection, well done mate. I don't think I'll be attempting this one anytime soon though, mine would look more Worzel Gummidge than Princess Leia 😅
A crochet hook will get the hair out from the inside too. Rerooting is tricky because of getting the final amount right and thatching the parting i.e criss crossing parting hairs to look natural.
This wasn't what I was expecting, Dave, but I thoroughly enjoyed the video, and seeing you do the process! I can really understand how doing something this fiddly with a camera between your head and hands would make it very difficult to get things right. I think you id a great job picking out the color of the hair, threading the hair into the doll's head, and on giving her those space buns! I personally have no interest in girl's dolls like Sindy, but I have loads of interest in all things creative, and I love seeing things like this. I follow a lady on RUclips who creates dollhouses, because I love seeing her create things in miniature, so anything like this fascinates me! I'm so glad that you were able to gain the skills to pull this off in the sort of fashion that you'd hoped for all these years, and I truly appreciate you sharing it all with us! Can't wait for your next video, amigo!
What a truly unique project! Well done! I have a She-Ra figure I’d like to try and redo the hair someday, so this was an interesting view into the process! Great video mate!
You can fill the hole in the back of her head (or any other overly large holes in the head) with urethane glue like Liquid Fusion. It adheres to the vinyl without detaching while the head is being squished during rooting, and it dries soft enough that you can root right through it. If you remove hair from a scalp and it splits anywhere, Liquid Fusion will also repair that so you can root the head safely.
Hey Dave She turned out great. I had forgotten about the Cindie doll you gave a new "doo" too. Happy Weekend to You and MrsTP Take care of One Another 😊
Definitely not what I was thinking when I saw your post earlier. I was absolutely pleasantly surprised about the video content. That looks super tedious, but turned out amazing. I've always wondered how they put those bums on her head. Had to go back and watch the other videos on that afterwards. Don't know how I missed them before. As always Dave, it was a stellar fantastic video. Thank you again for all you do. This one the hard work definitely showed. Thanks again.
Excellent work! I haven't seen this particular rerooting method in action before, and as I tend to use too many of the holes and end up with super-thick hair using the cut-eyed needle in a handle, it seems like this would help me meter the plugs out better. And it doesn't require gluing the scalp from inside at the end, nor the pain in the butt of lock-stitching each plug to the last as you go (great hold and old-school factory correct, until you're using embroidery floss for hair and halfway through the scalp line, one of the loops breaks.)
It was taught to me by Jolly Dolly Shop and I can see why she uses it. No gluing, and it holds firm instantly. I'm actually getting much quicker with this method now.
This is a Sindy Ballerina (so I am informed). The hole in the back of the head is for a plug that would have had hair wrapped around for that "ballerina look".
Not sure. The buns work by having a large hole on one side and a smaller hole on the other. The hair gets tucked inside the large hole. Not sure if a tyre would have the same openings?
My fiancee reroots my little pony hair and she says that there is a type of fork rerooting tool that you can buy to cut the time and work in half. Not sure of the name of it or it's cost but might be worth getting it you are doing this often. Great video though!
Well, you were right! All-time classic. I don't think ANY of us saw this coming! 👏👏👏
1 in a million & certain Carrie would've been proud. Thanks!
God Bless Her
Wow, thanks!

Wow, that figure came out amazing, awesome job.
Marvellous! This came out so nicely.
Clever job. Your next sindy could be customised into Teela
That was bloody good!
Next up, how Dave turns an Action Man into Han Solo.
I have been thinking about that 🤔
@@toypolloi The ideal companion piece 🙂

Cool, what a way to go. You may have got hold of a whole new audience to your channel.
I hope so!
Very nice, Dave! This will be a standout custom in your collection. I think a Han Solo Action Man would be brilliant! Cheers!
I think so too! I'm contemplating that project at the moment.
Your being too harsh on yourself Dave! That first doll looks brilliant and I really like the dual layered look. Keep it awesome 👍👍👍👍
Thanks so much!!

Thanks. It was a long time in the planning, and learning. But worth it I feel.
Awesome. You have so much patience. Leia is looking gorgeous. If everything in life would be so easyly fixable. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! 😊
Awesome as always.

Thank you for sharing. I will definitely try to make this hairstyle on one of my Sindy's
Great. Let me know how you get on.

Glad you enjoyed it! The buns are a challenge to get to work, but without them it's not Leia.
Brilliant
I’ve found rubber bands don’t last long and get brittle and break quickly. I’ve been using tiny zip ties instead.
Have you considered making a Sindy Sasquatch doll? That'd be lots of fun.
And a lot of hair.
Brilliant!
Really cool! Maybe next time you can use some hair gel to tame the locks while creating the bums.

This is amazing excellent job
I’ve always wanted to make a mold of action man, then take the positive from that mold and make an action man frozen in carbonite.
That could look great.
Who is she giving the side eye to? Just like Star Wars Hammerhead.
Princess Leia what a Godess

I’m getting a bit bold on the front. Maybe you could help me with that?😅
Hi Dave ,great video. I was wondering would toy tyres work with this,or do you think they would be to squishy?

Rerooting tool. And in US currency, it's about 10-20, usually comes with spare needles, etc.
Now do a sindy Chewbacca!
🤣
never seen a neddle that long...so long
It's originally for upholstery sewing, if you ever need to source one.
They are called doll needles, and are for doll making.
These are actually called doll needles. I've not looked at upholstery needles.
@@toypolloi Then I stand corrected, and will need to source a few, myself.
Hole in the back of the head? Bionic Woman Sindy?
