Excellent like what your doing with the AT AT . Looking cool can't wait to see what you do with it next . Your channel is like a chocolate bar always keeps you coming back for more.
I've been looking forward to watching part 2 of this and it didn't disappoint, that custom back door looks bangin'! Definitely, definitely want you to spray paint the discoloured bottom bit rather than just leaving it as is.
I love that back door hatch! I have a few AT-ATs, both with the back part, but I’m think I might make one of these to go with mine. As always, fantastic video! Thanks for sharing!
Try de-yellowing the bottom if not paint it as you suggested. I found the decal / sticker for my Buck Rogers Commander Center set, thank you for your guidance.
You could consider it now as a variant of the AT-AT similar to the AT-ACT in Rogue One. That one has a lower section and cargo pod that are orange so it is not unheard of variants having their own colour. The yellowed colour looks quite good and actually even due to it being on a specific piece. You can always change your mind at a later date once you have it fully together. You could always take a photo and edit it to have different colours and make a choice that way.
I have been looking forward to this. Happy to see how it is progressing and turnin out. A backdoor is for sure the right choice and is very fitting, turned out great. I say leave the underbelly of the AT-AT as is. Looking forward to see how you do the rest. Keep up the great work!
The joy I experienced as a kid receiving this for Christmas... I knew exactly what it was as there was no way to disguise the size of the box. I still have it, and will never let it go. The photo on the side of the box only helped it be even more awesome, what a great shot. I do wish they'd made this and the Falcon with the same size and features of the newer versions from the mid-2010s, I always thought they were a bit small, but still had a blast with them. I have all my stuff in storage, I have no desire to display them, but I'll never get rid of them.
Who ever came up with the idea of the backdoor is a genius! You did a wonderful job of pulling that off. It looks fantastic! I love the idea of loading it up with lights and maybe even putting a blinking red light to the back where the door is... Something like a "caution, door is opening" light or something along those lines. As far as coloring the whole thing... That's kind of a tough one. At first I was thinking it would be cool to live it as a mix of colors, but now that you've put in some of your own work and painted the door a somewhat different shade of gray, I'm kind of thinking you might want to consider repainting the whole thing and having it be a new experimental upgrade one of a kind model that the Empire is testing. 🤓
Really great stuff. Watching you build and repair toys is such a treat. Regarding what to do next I agree that interior lights would be a nice addition and adding reproduction legs would, I assume, be rather expensive or cumbersome to build.
Congratulations! What a wonderful project. I never had Star Wars toys as a child, but it's still incredibly interesting to watch you restore this AT-AT.
Hey Dave I have always liked your fixes, in my opinion, you have outdone yourself with this custom. I think lights and painting the bottom would tie it together. Happy Weekend to you and MrsTP 😊
Yes Dave lights! For God's sake add interior lighting! Then maybe consider doing something about the yellowing. Then again, maybe a little yellowing would give it a really cool antiquated look. But go for the lighting, that's a must!
Inspired Dave as always mate, lights in the main body would be great! Maybe a red light with the some kind of warning siren to signal they are approaching the deploy location 😀👍
It would be great to spray paint but also paint little details like lights, buttons, panels, vents, etc. I know you've done it before, but some new cardboard inserts and lights would be nice. And perhaps an optional crane and hook device to lift speeders from the ground while AT AT is standing. This is great, so cool when I see vintage toys getting modified and/or improved.
Love the detail on the back panel, I like the color on the bottom panel as is, and the lights inside would be a nice touch. All in all, exquisite work Dave.
Love the idea of carrying the speeder bike in the back. Since the bottom is already yellow/brown, why not make the rest of the AT-AT into the Forest Camo. That would thematically go with the speeder bike. These are deployed to Endor and carry scout troops and vehicles :)
That is a wonderful work thus far. The back panel just looks made for it. The addition of the speeder bike was a excellent call, everyone. I think I would spray the battery cover, and as for the base ... part of me says go blood red or some odd coloration just because. Like the Red Baron, whoever was the driver of this AT-AT wanted to be noticed. Heh.
It's looking really good and I admire the work a lot. If it was me, I'd see if it would be possible to replace the batteries with a powerbank, so I could use a USB cable to recharge it instead worrying about that thin battery cover.
Definitely put lights and inner panels inside the AT-AT. I think that would add to the fun factor of the piece. As for the base, I kind of figured you would leave it yellow, I know you don't go in for the pristine Sears Wish Book look like I do with my Barbie structures and dolls, so I will vote to leave it as is.
I vote to paint the bottom. The color may not be perfect, but it should match the custom rear door. I feel the slightly different gray hue is not as stark as the very yellowed hue...and yes lighting. Always lighting...
Palitoy had the Hoth playset, which was a retooled "Land of the Jawas' playset. I am wondering if you can do something like that for the bottom legs with one of your custom styrene bases to make another diorama?
Lights and sounds? Can I suggest the muffled sound of the thermal detonator Luke uses to bring down the AT-AT on Hoth , I’m sure you could add lights to flicker accordingly with what would be the resulting explosion.
20:15 well back then, toys were works of art and labors of love, unlike some toys of today spray paint the underbelly of that beast, unless you want a patchwork AT-At you could name Patches....
Hello Dave, great video here. Do u still need legs? Maybe u could use the same primer on the bottom if u don’t feel like hydrogen peroxide is what u want to use…
Love the mods. Would have been even better to convert it into an AT-ACT instead of just another AT-AT and yea I know they aren’t the same size but then again a speeder bike isn’t as big as the body of an AT-AT so 🤷 But could have been a cool mod adding a big orange cargo section! 😂
I think the underside would look better painted, job you are doing it will spoil it if left tacky yellow. Some lights inside would good, shouldn't be lights showing when shut up, make it too easy target for Rebel artillery.
Amazing fix. I actually said "wow!" out loud, when the door was complete! Question Dave: Why do you not use plastic weld with Lego? You used to use it in some of the older videos (Death Star gun repair is one that comes to mind) but I've noticed you favour superglue these days. Cheers
Thanks. It ended up looking great. I am not 100% convinced of the bond between styrene and lego. Lego to lego is good. So I will used Superglue just to be sure if I can get a good amount of surface area.
That back door seriously looks like something that came stock with the AT-AT. Your talents at shaping styrene are always astonishing to me.
Looks GREAT! If I hadn't just watched you build it, there's no way it would have even occurred to me it wasn't original.
You are to styrene what Blue Peter was to sticky-back plastic. Hats off!
Very impressive! That back door blends in perfectly!
Excellent like what your doing with the AT AT . Looking cool can't wait to see what you do with it next . Your channel is like a chocolate bar always keeps you coming back for more.
Really loved this one Dave and I agree, I wish Kenner had made an open back door, it seems crazy they didn't and yours looks amazing.

Amazing work as always. Really great to watch this project come together.
No paint, I would age the rest of it to give it that battle tested look. Thanks for sharing your skills. Awesome channel.
Fantastic detail. Love it

My AT-AT is still standing in my window, why not display it😁

Great job on the door Dave!
Fabulous. And I'll take the opportunity here to say you have a very sharp professional intro and cut / transition markers. Very nice, very polished
Congratulations! What a wonderful project. I never had Star Wars toys as a child, but it's still incredibly interesting to watch you restore this AT-AT.
Yes lights! Also cardboard inserts inside!
Hey Dave
I have always liked your fixes, in my opinion, you have outdone yourself with this custom. I think lights and painting the bottom would tie it together. Happy Weekend to you and MrsTP 😊
That rear door is a cracking bit of scratch building, had you not known you would think it's a stock piece.
Yes Dave lights! For God's sake add interior lighting! Then maybe consider doing something about the yellowing. Then again, maybe a little yellowing would give it a really cool antiquated look.
But go for the lighting, that's a must!
Yea pleas add lights and sounds, that is what this toy always was lacking imo
Looks great. Wabi sabi is always the way. Let it wear its age.
Inspired Dave as always mate, lights in the main body would be great! Maybe a red light with the some kind of warning siren to signal they are approaching the deploy location 😀👍

Just brilliant. Enjoy seeing your creativity come to life.
Soooo cool 😎
Love the detail on the back panel, I like the color on the bottom panel as is, and the lights inside would be a nice touch. All in all, exquisite work Dave.
Yes Please put Lights and back ground panel !!! ✨️ 😊😊😊
Love the idea of carrying the speeder bike in the back.

Came here to make this exact suggestion.

Impressive most impressive..
Very Good job A+

🆒 At At Walker

Yes! Lights, sounds, make this ATAT look and feel like it's from Las Vegas!
I personally hate yellowing on plastic so I vote for spraying it with paint.
Definitely paint the bottom...tbh I would have repainted the whole thing but I know you like some originality
Loving this series. Also got a buzz seeing my name in the Patreon credits. I hadn't been looking out for it before.
Thanks! And thank you for your support.

very nice work, why do i think to stick some GI joe tank tracks on it and make a AT-ATank
Yes do the interior like you did the other AT AT a few years ago that was very cool ..And leave the belly yellow it looks awesome
20:15 well back then, toys were works of art and labors of love, unlike some toys of today
spray paint the underbelly of that beast, unless you want a patchwork AT-At you could name Patches....
Hello Dave, great video here. Do u still need legs? Maybe u could use the same primer on the bottom if u don’t feel like hydrogen peroxide is what u want to use…
Spray paint some weathering to it.

Lookin good. I woud paint the belly only bc the color is very distracting but thats my opinion.
I'd paint the bottom. The yellowing is really unsightly, imo.
I say spray paint it, its already a custom with the backdoor. So why stop there!
I think the underside would look better painted, job you are doing it will spoil it if left tacky yellow. Some lights inside would good, shouldn't be lights showing when shut up, make it too easy target for Rebel artillery.

Spray the bottom
Paint
Spray it
