Many scan tools ignore a module that cannot talk, there is a data list of all modules in other modules but the scan tool still does not identify the fact that the module is actually installed on the vehicle. A drain tube on the rack boots is still a bad idea, the good idea that they added was an air hose between the 2 inner boots so as the accordion action was happening, air would transfer to the opposite boot so the rest of the boot could be water right while a way for air to escape was available.

We got us a 2014 SHIVVERLAY! It's the 1500, it's got the big 5-3, and it's got no power steering

They keep getting more complex by the minute. (And that also equals more expensive) I have never worked on one of these steering units, so I was “soaking up” (bad pun) all the info on where stuff is located! Keep dry in Ontario. I will do my best not to send the rain from Manitoba!

In the beginning, they sold us on the fact that the little modules around the car would be less expensive than the one large PCM, we were duped again by Big Brother. They did not mention that extra money for programming would be needed or that the little computer would also be attached to a larger component and those added costs would be a part of the BIG EFIN real deal.

@@DuaneDonaldson They don’t worry about what it will cost the us to repair things later. The stuff we (or at least I drove) when I was younger we could fix. It was older junk, but I never took them to the garage. Never! Always fixed them by myself or with a friend. And they rarely broke. Yes the features are nice nowadays. But we are paying for them, in many ways.

@davebigdog none of the local salvage yards has one. I've ordered an aftermarket remanufactured one. We will see how that goes...reman from GM not available.

But it adds a new meaning to "power steering leak". I blame the tech who changed the inner tie rod ends. I use screw clamps to secure the boots.

If he went that deep at the boat ramp, he might want another hobby.
