"Predator 2" (1990): Urban Jungle and a Deadlier Predator
Released in 1990, "Predator 2" is a science fiction action film directed by Stephen Hopkins. The movie is a sequel to the 1987 hit film "Predator" and takes the action from the jungle to the urban jungle of Los Angeles. The film features an even deadlier and more technologically advanced Predator hunting its prey in a gritty and crime-ridden city. Starring Danny Glover as Lieutenant Mike Harrigan, the film explores themes of urban violence, drug cartels, and police corruption, all while delivering intense action sequences and suspense.
Set in the near future of 1997, the movie showcases the Predator's adaptability as it uses the city's infrastructure to its advantage. The film also expands the lore of the Predator species, revealing more about their hunting practices and the existence of multiple Predators. While "Predator 2" didn't achieve the same iconic status as its predecessor, it remains a cult classic among fans of the franchise, known for its high-octane action and memorable scenes.
The film's blend of science fiction, horror, and action elements, along with its unique setting, adds a distinct flavor to the Predator series and demonstrates the franchise's ability to evolve and explore new environments. "Predator 2" is a noteworthy installment that has continued to capture the imagination of sci-fi and action enthusiasts over the years.

Predator 2 is one of the most underrated movie. I realy love this sequel.
What? Movie is straight garbage compared to the first one. An Aliens to Alien it is not.
Up there with robocop for it's parodying of inner city problems. Hope the comic gets the same attention as p1
@@LordBallSacRoboCop is not and never was underrated. It was always recognised as one hell of a movie. Predator 2 on the other hand doesn't really get the praise it deserves. It's more like a honorable mention for the xenomorph's head alone
I did the weapons for this movie, watching these clips bring back all kinds of memories one of my first shows where I was in charge of the weapons
So we have you to thank for the Predator's iconic Smart Disc weapon?
You have to do a video commentary about your experiences!
Make a video about your experience. This movie is a classic 👌🏽
By "did the weapons", do you mean you supplied them? Designed them? Was in charge of handling and training?
Another a bs made up Story
I love how the Predator was genuinely shocked when Harrigan managed to spot where he was by instinct alone.
He was like "whoa there!"
Better keep an eye on this one; he may prove a worthy adversary later.
*Predator fades*
Yeah he was like
"OH hey, uhh imma get my guys to give you this old gun"
Man if Predator was real, the Cartels in Mexico or any street gang in America is doomed.
Predators pose reminds me of those two raccoons trying to sneak past a house 😄
El Scorpio must’ve thought “man this is some strong cocaine. I can see invisible creatures coming after me”
😂🤣😂
It be like that. 😂
Dude thought he was tweakin' but he was seein' real shit.
@@Leondrius at least he went out with the ultimate high.
“Was he seeing with his eyes, or by some other means?” he said.
I always liked Predator 2.
Plus its fun to see Danny Glover acting more like Martin Riggs in this film.
He was the perfect fusion of both
It was also fun to see that older cop sending backup in with Glover's character was the police chief, i think, in the Lethal Weapon movies.
@gethrojenkins9619 I think he was now you mention it. I know the main Police Cheif in Predator 2 is Robert Davi who was in Die Hard as Special Agent Johnson and the Villain Sanchez in 007 License to Kill.
@@pop000690 It's been so many years since I've seen Pred 2, it's hard to remember all the celebrities that had a role in it. Maria Conchita Alonso (sp) i remember from Colors and Running Man, and of course Bill Paxton from Aliens. Awesome sequel at any rate.
@gethrojenkins9619 Yeah Pred 2 is a pretty star sudded cast indeed but yeah I love it a lot. Of course the first film is the best but Pred 2 is a solid sequel
I gotta get one of those tables. That thing is SOLID.
ikr? This is a very silly movie.
So why you here, pal?@@todwest
@@todwest are you stupid? you think it's actually impossible for a table to stop a man's fall?

Lol Danny Glovers Desert Eagle with the scope. Standard issue for LA cops back in the early 90s.
It's a different timeline from ours, in this movie the crime was so rampant and deviant that cops used high power pistols
@@SeñorDossierOficial ...yet aside from the SWAT, none of the cops (at least the plains clothes) had any body armor with them.
@@SoldierOfFate oh no, but the desert eagle shots helped to push el Scorpio from the building
not a scope, its a laser, problably the same one terminator used on the revolver
Dolph Lundgren had one in Showdown in Little Tokyo as well.
Danny Glover's Desert Eagle pistol from the 90s with a laser sight...a revolution in weapons at that time
I love that it's a comedically big gun. But at the same time so awesome
@@1ftsports678 Everything is that movie is over the top, from the props to the acting.
I love how as a way to make it look more "futuristic" they just put scopes on all the guns lol
Jerry did say funny shit.
Hey I look great! No autographs pop loll
I think they were actually really low power, bulky laser sights from the 90’s most of the time.
Yeah Danny G with a scoped .50 and his boy with his standard carry, rocking a huge surefire. Even when I was 12 I thought this was cringy lol.
and the "scopes" in question arent even actual scopes
Back then a lot of those were actually lasers, not scopes.
Predator 2 is criminally underrated
I've heard more people say they like it than people saying they dislike it.
The more shitty sequels they make, the closer it gets to Predator 1
As sequels go it was a great one galaxy away from the 2018 abomination
@@actuary33 Lol agree with you here
The concrete hunter......
The movie respects the audience by saying you already know what a predator is, why hide it
well some audience might confuse how predator still alive? he died in first film right?

1:04 Love the little detail of the brass being hot when it leaves the guns, I thought it was blood at first until my second watch of the scene.
피라고 생각한게 귀엽네요😂
The best analogy I can think of for Predator and Predator 2 is Jaws and Jaws 2. If there hadn’t been a first one, the second one would’ve gotten the raves, but both movies were pretty damn good for sequels.
The same goes for Airplane 2. As a stand alone, it's a really good comedy but it doesn't hold up to an all-time comedic classic like the original.
Jaws 2 is garbage lol. Predator 2 is pretty damned good
Scorpio was in fact…not ready.
I don't see why this movie gets sh!t on and Prey gets praised. This is the second-best Predator movie.
nahh that would be Predators, this one was ok but nothing to rave about
@@ST19859
I do have love for Predators, my third favorite. The only one I hate is The Predator (2018), the one where the girl from G4TV claims it has an Exoskeleton UNDER its skin.
@@ST19859 nah, Predators is full of nonsensic bs regarding Predator lore...
Because prey is woke
@@FargoMorgan
What does "woke" mean?
When Predator meets Lethal Weapon.
DG: "Drop the weapons, assh0le!"
Pred: *in its language, probably* "HUNTING LICENSE!"
DG: 👽💥🔫🧒🏿 *it's just been REVOKED!*
This is a very good scene, even if the movie has it's cliché and pastiche moments, this scene does setup the movie perfectly. Not only does Mike steal the predator kill, he also realizes there is something behind him, unexpectedly forcing the predator to hide and cornering him, showing his prowess as hunter too. And he also give orders to other officers, showing the predator who is in charge. No wonder the City Hunter got an interest in him.
Ya I love when the predator just freezes up when he gets spotted, like he wasn’t expecting that one from the earth human cops
1:27 damn that it one impressively strong table that taco truck has there.
Sabu couldn't break that table 😆
90's Quality man. Tacos deserve that quality.
That was my main take away from this scene too! Homie fell like 12 meters straight down and that thing just took it. Impressive!
Thanks! I've never seen it with this quality! Back in Soviet Union this movie came on a pirated VCR tape - a copy of a copy of a copy..
But just a year after this movie came out the Soviet Union fell.
How long did it take until you guys more easily could enjoy stuff from western culture without getting into trouble?

Dhillon was right… a couple of days and they would have been over the border. Looks like he survived the ambush and did just that 😅
This scene is the epitome of the entire Predator story.
The victim doesn't call the police officer because he saw something much, much worse than that.
It's genuinely perfect.
1:25 he landed on the films catering table.
😂
Danny Glover proved to be the predator's "Lethal Weapon" in this film ......🤣🤣🤣
Never knew some people criticized this movie.
All that I knew was that this movie and the first Predator filled my childhood. Loved both!
Shooting blanks with 2 autos while falling off a building IS an insane stunt 😲
What a badass movie!! Absolutely loved every second of it!!
predator 2 in a different scenario. possibly only the 2 best of predator series.
0:58 when you’re playing multi player and another player steals your kill.
KS hahahah😹😹😹
This doesn't get enough attention. 😂
What a film this bill paxton Danny glover we don’t have the actors of the 80s n 90s with this sort of character love it .
I always thought the notion of Danny Glover standing a chance against the Predator was about as good as my chance of winning a swim meet against Michael Phelps.
Always felt the Predator was a total cheat. He had Armour, strength, speed, a plasma cannon AND he still uses invisibility.
Predators are physically stronger than humans, but they're not that much more durable. Without their armor, they're just as equally vulnerable to bullets. Their main skill is stealth and using that to get the first strike.
Yes, I had the same feeling
@@SoldierOfFate they are much more durable, lol, city hunter tooked shotgun shells at point blank and stand it by cracking the "want some candy" joke...
@@milesr4609 he was hitting some strong drugs with that mask later too lmao.
The Predator in this movie didn't have a plasma cannon. Instead, it had shot a little rocket out of its shoulder cannon.
"Its just been revoked!"
"Uh, Danny, thats the wrong movie."
"Я слишком старый, для всего этого!!" 😂😂😂
It would have been more epic if the Predator had its eyes flash at Danny Glover.
its too early in the narrative, to do that. Have to save those things for later.
@@finc4164 Except it never happened in this movie.
PREDATOR: (eyes flash)

0:38 Danny Glover might just wanted to act as in tense, but turns out to be clumsy after all😂
Best sequel ever...
The predator was like "this cop took my kill" lol......i will get my revenge on this COP 😂🎯🔥💯😂
"El scorpio is ready..."
5 seconds later
Still high, sober and scared shitless at the same time
The same actor is in the first movie. He is the guy who tries to stop the truck that Dutch pushes into the rebels camp.
Dude was in a lot of movies back then. He was a stuntman so he got a lot of gigs as low-level thug/villains. Kind of like the Hispanic counterpart to Al Leong.
@@0megacron Nice one for the insight.
Now that's a story they should make....how El Scorpio went from low level jungle thug to the streets of LA
He got blown up in the first one, and fell to this death in this one. Poor guy can't catch a break.
Glover is a national treasure
Superb movie. A worthy sequel.
I rank Predator 1 and Predators(2010) as my two favourite movies from the series and this is 3rd.
Did you know Glover was supposed to reprise his role in Predators? He'd have played Fishburne's part. Which would have sucked given what he went through in this movie.
Really? Predators is a nice film, not much to write home about, but faithful to the original, but it's nowhere as good as the Predator 2. 2 is on par with the first one, both are classics IMO. Predators is just a quality made fanfic.
*Originally Glover was going to play the part given to Fishburne in the 2011 film Predators. I am glad they didn't go that route as making Mike a bad guy would have taken away from his character in this film.*
1:28 "I'm getting too old for this sh1t"...

Thank you.
Imagine doing all those drugs and then literally satan drops down from the ceiling and turns all your buddies inside out 😂
Remember kids, dont do drug. Or.....
Total waste of a good buzz if you ask me.
Thats some strong ass picnic table right there.
My favorite movie Predator 2 is a masterpiece 90s
Uzi accuracy per shot, nailed it.
All 80s and 90s movies are timeless!
I want that table.
😂
Funny how he landed exactly in the middle of that table lol
😂 And the table held up to the impact of a man falling from somewhere around 10 floors.
@@Backyardmech1 They sure don't make them like they used to.
He aimed for the bushes and hit that table instead.
😂
1:08 To me, that looks like a REAL stunt person falling off the building. Holding uzis no less. Crazy stunt 😬
I thought he just said “The scorpion is ready!”…I guess not
For heaven’s sake he was ready BUT NOT for a technological advanced alien beast with superior technology
That taco table was ready for “the Scorpio!” It did not break
I was today years old when I realized all the bullet casing were gone from the floor. Mike walks up after shooting the bad guy and the area was littered with bullet casings and then after he turns and points the gun at the Predator the camera angle picks up the whole floor and there's no more bullet casings and then Danny Boy comes up to help him and the casings are back...must be magic
I remember renting this when i was 8-9 years old, I was living in South Korea at the time and the VHS store owner did not care I was renting an R rated film
The Scorpio was hilarious in Car Wash. Seeing him in Truck Turner, Predator 2 and The Replacement Killers was kinda odd, but enjoyable!
Don't worry, everyone. He's fine. The picnic table broke his fall. Look, it didn't even break. The french fries didn't even fall off the table. He's cool.
This is one of the best sequels! loved predator 2 especially the train bit
I always loved the idea of an urban jungle. I liked Pred 2. All others after that just sucks for me.
Nothing like being 14 when this came out!
Born in 76 or 77?
Ah yes the 90's, the era of 1,000 round magazines
0:45 The actor playing El Scorpio is really good. He became all confident until he encounters the predator. Now he's all scared and shaky.
The 90's ❤️
My only thing with Predator 2 was it was missing a partner for Harrigan that had a bit more action movie presence. This was obviously a cop movie rather than Commando like the first movie, and maybe they didn't want to do Lethal Weapon, but you needed someone to bounce Glover's acting off of, who also believably can hang in the new reality they find themselves.
I AM THE TABLE!!!!
IMO second best Predator movie still. No goofing around, no Predator holding the idiot ball so the lead can kill it like in Prey.
Imaging carrying a desert eagle with optics as your primary service weapon
Me and my bro have been watching this since we were kids. We finally realized that table shouldve collapsed when El Scorpio splashed down…
It only took us a hundred or so viewing to realize this 😆
Action movies of the 80s to early 90s always had the most absurd guns. Desert Eagle with a scope and massive laser. Lol
Prey definitely payed homage to "Predator 2"
Prey ain’t no where near predator 1987 and predator 2.
They messed up the flintlock story line.
the implied laser sight is on at 1:45 , the audience may thought it was an optic/scope, but imagine if the laser dot was visible, the audience would've been confused since the last time it was the Predator using the laser to target its prey and movie tool for suspense, at least for the non gun savvy ones(not everyone knows what that thing on Terminator's 1911 do too, actual laser sight was huge and scope-looking back then). on one hand the predator may have known Danny's got the sights and trigger ready on him, but on other hand, not everyone knows about the laser sight on the Deagle.
Man - I remember sneaking into the cinema via the back door helped by my eldest brother to watch this movie - I was 6 years old. I am now 40.
Im too old for this shit!
Damn the soundtrack by the great Alan Silvestri is ultimate GOLD. It adds a lots of kinetic energy to each action sequence.
The Scorpio is spaghettiii!!
1:07 El Scorpio is flying.
More like, falling with style!
LA was wild back in the 80's/90's.
Thought 2 may not be as good as 1 I like it better than the other ones made since. I’m sick of the Predator losing though in the end.
People forget just how dangerous large cities were in the 80s and early 90s in America.
When you consider the murder rate is HALF what it was in 1980 compared to today, this movie makes sense.
Sturdy table :)
このギャング、主人公ばりに弾を回避して味方に当ててくるのが強キャラ感あって好き
0:59 when you need to file your tax return every year...but you don't know how to do it...
El Scorpio wasn't ready! 😂
109 degrees and Harrigan has LONG SLEEVE SILK shirt on!
It's ironical that Harrigan is not afraid of height and does not like pigeons, yet has to constantly overcome his weakness and hunt the alien hunter on the rooftops among "damned birds".
1:25 - I wonder if that was a morbid joke by the director: the guy died on top of a picnic table, as if to say "Hey predator, dinner is served!"
1:23 youve been served, mister!
I literally never noticed till now that Danny waves to one of the SWAT guys securing Scorpios body lol
The best
For a moment Harrigan catches the Predator off guard
Replacing Schwarzenegger was always going to be difficult, but to pick those grandad's pants.
That coke is long gone from El Scoripios system after what he just saw before reaching the roof lol
I'm gettin to old for this, Riggs!
The moral of this story was - El Scorpio was not nearly as ready as he thought he was. :D
