- My guitar cover of Jimmy Page's beautiful song Bron-Yr-Aur ("Breast of Gold") with backdrops of the Bron-Yr-Aur cottage that Robert Plant's family visited in the 50's as a holiday home.
The cottage was later visited by Robert Plant and Jimmy Page in the early 70's where many of the songs on Led Zeppelin III & IV were formed. The idea and melodies for this beautiful song were formed in 1970 at Bron-Yr-Aur cottage where it made its appearance on the album Physical Graffiti in 1975. The images shown in this video are of the famous cottage where Zeppelin stayed. The band is shown at the end of the song at the cottage.
I used a Taylor acoustic guitar (model CE 314) run through a Roland Acoustic Chorus (AC-60) amplifier with minimal reverb into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (@FocusriteTV) interface and then in to my Presonus Studio 5 DAW (@presonus).
The guitar tuning is open C...
CACGCE Low to high left to right.

Led zeppelin used to come down from Bron-Y-Aur to Machynlleth for a Bath and a feed in the local wynnstay hotel when they were here in the 70’s .a good mate of mine was thumbing a lift to Aberystwyth when a Range Rover pulled up and planty shouted out the window “do you want a lift mate ..in the driving seat was John Bonham and jimmy page was in the back seat .planty still lives here a few months of the year near furnace .I’ve spoke to him a few times in our town when he’s shopping at the open market on a Wednesday or in the local Co/Op .a nice fella with no hairs and graces saying how famous he is .Planty made a few Videos in the 80’s at the Quarry Nr where I live in Corris …
Dio quant' è bello stare ad ascoltare questa melodia...BRAVISSIMO !!
Been playing Zeppelin since the 70's. Awesome rendition.
Nothing compares to the 70s music and talent!
Chop the right side of that cottage off to where there's one window on either side of the door and you have the home my mother grew up in. A family of games keepers in the Scottish highlands for several generations. There are still so many of these buildings peppered all over the isles I suppose. Lovely to see them all and in any condition.
Always loved this tune, magically soothing to listen too.
That’s the thing with this band, they all had talent. And you, sir, do also!
Long live jimmy Page
There’s still good music happening today the difference is you have to go looking for it. In the 60’s or 70’s there was a glut of good music and it was delivered to you through radio and albums or tapes etc. now there are so many genres of music and so many ways to consume music you have to put more effort into finding what you want. It’s still out there it’s just not the most popular music in the states right now. Look abroad and don’t loose hope I’m sure you’ll find something you’ll love.
Totally agree! 💯
Where are today's Jimmie Page ? Sadly i believe his genius is long gone. What a master at his art!
Couldn't agree more!
Um Jack White to start …
They are playing on their stupid computers. 😂
That sounded just as good as the album. That's always been one of my favorites from Zeppelin.
No it didnt
@@paulmatschull1923 :-). No one can match Jimmy!
yeah gotta agree with the responses here. This is lovely but at about half speed of what Jimmy plays it. Which is what takes from lovely to mesmerizing.
Great job, Chris! Congratulations on the response!
Fine listen.
Beautiful cover.. this is one piece of music that can make me cry. Love the last push on bottom E
Perfectly played…an iconic and somewhat mystical song….
Bit of a old school vibe, very nice. Peace !
A Great Record 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
Damn!!!!!amazing pickin and finger work all complimented with timing!!!
Thats sounded excellent. I haven't played that in decades..... kinda forgotten about. Thanks for reminding me again, i will have to see if i can do it again. I remember changing it up a bit by adding a major chord after the repetitions minor chords. Minor, minor, minor, major. I think. Brightened it up a bit from the original.
very nicely played. thank you🦋🎈
really beautiful. It reminds me of the great Windham Hill recordings especially William Ackermans'.
Never seen that played before. It was a pleasure. thank you.
Well done! Thank you!
Beautiful rendition.
Learned that and The Rain Song during lock down and never tire of playing them. Had the pleasure of seeing Plant in San Sebastian in September and they played the Rain Song. Brought a tear to my eye.
Keep up the great work.
Takes me back - way back.
Absolutely 10/10 that was PERFECT
Beautiful...
Magnificent !
Отличная версия, гитара звучит прекрасно!
Beautifully played Sir.
The Trouble with Today's music the Musician is not needed it's all Samples. Computers have Taken over it's very sad the Youngsters know no different
And only the old blokes like you know what real music is……you can call this cultural stalinism or simply utter bullshit.
This is probably being sampled right now 🤣🤣🤣
@@markainsley231 yes we're all sampled Robots taking over 😘😂
Think Page was like 21 years old.
thats an absolute bullshit assessment.
Magnifique, vous donnez tellement d'émotions à travers l'attaque des cordes... Ça devient rare de nos jours... Bonne continuation 🙏
Merci beaucoup. Très gentil de ta part. :-)
Thank you.
Great cover! Thanks for sharing it😎💙
Fantastic cover, write-up on the history, pictures of the actual location and band. Well done sir!
Many thanks!
Nice cover. One of my favorites by Mr Page.
This tune has always sounded otherworldly to me.
I've always imagined that if you've lived a righteous life and you believe in such a place as heaven and if the universe blesses you with a peaceful and easy death then this is the sound of what envelopes you as you make the transition and pass over into heaven.
Oh man. Great tune and you nailed it. Rock on, Chris!
Thank You for doing this song & posting the tuning!! I love it so much & used it in a soundtrack to a movie I made back in 2000. Never get tired of hearing it, it is so hauntingly gorgeous. & Thank You Jimmy for writing it!!
Well done sir.
Simplemente: maravilloso.
Thanks
It sounds quite nice.
I went there, back in the day, a pilgrimage, sort of. ♥️
Is it publicly accessible?
@@solarbuduk It was when I went. There was someone living in it. My girlfriend and I had a chat with him. Nice bloke.
Amazing
Brilliant job. I´m a guitar player as well and a Page freak. I´ve just recently picked up playing this song again after about 6 years of dormancy. The cadence has a sort of ¨bouncy¨ feel to it and you've nailed. Such a beautiful instrumental by Page. How he figured this out is pure genius.
I agree 💯
if you want to learn page, go to the old blues and Celts he ripped. Not hating on him, just saying he ripped lots of folk and then improved it in in my opinion. If you want an example check out "waggoners lad" and listen to Bron yr aur stomp.
och this is so beautiful Page :D Great playing man! Love it
Nice!
This song in the movie " The Song Remains the Same" when they're traveling into Madison Square Garden in the limo 😊 awesome
I remember that movie so well as a kid. Bron-Yr-Aur playing as they were riding to the Forum in a limo. I had thoughts of showing that scene in this video but ultimately decided to keep it focused on the Cottage where this song was born from.
It was Madison Square Garden not the LA Forum 😁👍
It's from Physical Graffiti.
@@maxrico6660 Yes but the song is playing in the movie when they are in the limo and driving into Madison Square Garden but yes it's on physical graffiti also 👍
That movie was LAME.... Until I watched it on acid. Then it came alive ! ! ! Then, I spent that last 30 years.... showing my friends. "Here. Eat this. Watch that." Every single time, the same response. "What the hell was that?" I'd say,"IDK. I stumbled on it, and now it never gets old....."
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼✌🏼❤️
exceptional playing Grant, better than jimmy imo. you make that Taylor sing, love how you have the action set up, very bert janschish, love the pure, raw sound. have fingerpicked for over 40 years and you truly made a very very impressive cover of this your own and the best I have heard. tks for sharing
Right on, thanks Don. Fun song to play for sure.
Wow!! Love it! That's they house they wrote Led Zeppelin III songs in. I read about it when I was in high school. It's just as I imagined. I really believe that environment affects the music you write. Nice performance of Bron-Yr-Aur. Sound good coming through that Roland acoustic amp. Good tone! What's the tuning? Thank you!
It's CACGCE. C Major. I have heard it described as open C tuning.
The guy says it is s little slow but it sounds pretty good at this speed in my opinion
I love it, and Mr.Page is MY guitar Hero 🎸 😍
Oh THAT's how it was done! I played it in 'C' because I just didn't know...
It is played in c tuning
the color of the door...
✌️😌
wow Jimmy Page genius
The Guitar playing was excellent. Nice job. Quick question. Is that a photograph of the actual Bron-Yr-Aur cottage that you briefly lashed? Looks like it is with that last shot of the boys in the band standing around it, but I'm just curious.
On the photograph with the band, the door is red, on the other the door is blue… So maybe not the same epoch 🧐
Beautiful!
What tuning is this song in?
its weird but just tune the D string down a whole step, then tune the B string up a half step. oh and the low E drops down a bit as well.
It's CACGCE. C Major. I have heard it described as open C tuning.
Thank you! I’m inspired
Sounds good. Do you like John Fahey?
Haven't heard of him but I'll definitely check them out. Thanks
@@grantguitarcovers there's good evidence that J.Page was heavily influenced by John Fahey in regards to open-tuned acoustic guitar. If you like this Page piece you will love John Fahey.
Like all the girls I’ve known. Not perfect…just beautiful.
A bit confused
Why do you cut some measures by 1/4?
There are no 3/4 in this song it’s all 4/4
I think I do at one part when I slide up to the fifth fret. There's another version I play where I think it's 4/4 timing like you're talking about.
Good ear. 😊
@@grantguitarcovers thanks. excellent cover
region of cottage location?

Look up the gregorian brothers, more classical but very talented
How is the title of this song pronounced and what does it mean
You can read my description for the meaning. And the pronunciation seems to be different depending on who says it. You could look it up and Wikipedia and hear a different pronunciations. Also, you can listen to Gretchen Menn's rendition of the song and her lesson. She describes it in the first lesson. I won't hack this by trying to pronounce it here. ☺️
What tuning is that?
ГРЕЙТ СЕНКС
Welsh Boffy
What’s the tuning?
It's CACGCE. C Major. I have heard it described as open C tuning.
A-
just a little slow
I think a little. When I first recorded it and then listened to it it was really slow. That first recording made me appreciate how fast Jimmy played it. It took me a few tries to get it this fast, but it's probably still several beats too slow. Good ear.😊
That's like saying...
"Nice elbows above the rim tomahawk slam dunk. But it's not Michael Jordan."
But..... without saying the "nice" part....
It's executed very bad
