  • Hey guys, I'm Ryosuke! I’m a Japanese guy who’s crazy about food!
    I used to be a professional boxer, so I know how important it is to eat healthy dishes that give you lots of energy!
    Today I want to show you my recipe for CHICKEN TERIYAKI! It’s so simple and delicious, anyone can make it at home!
    I hope you enjoy and tell me what recipes you want to see in the comments!
    Special thanks to my friend Nicholas Pettas who helped me film my boxing scene - you can check out our video together here:
    • Getting punched in the...
    Ingredients:
    - 1 Large Chicken Thigh (skin on)
    - Potato Starch
    - ½ Green Onion
    - 1tbsp of Cooking Sake
    - 2 tsp of brown sugar
    - 1 & ½ tbsp of water
    - 1 & ½ tbsp of soy sauce
    - 2 tsp of honey
    How to make:
    - Cut off any fatty parts of one large chicken thigh (skin on)
    - Cover the chicken thigh in potato (or corn) starch on both sides and sprinkle with salt and pepper
    - Make your sauce by mixing your cooking sake, brown sugar, water, soy sauce and honey and mixing them
    - Heat some olive oil in a frying pan on a medium heat and put the chicken in skin side down
    - Add your green onions and cook the chicken until the skin is golden brown and crispy (be careful not to burn the onions!)
    - Turn the chicken over, set aside the green onions and continue to cook the chicken on a low heat with the lid on - for about 3 minutes
    - Take the chicken out of the pan - wipe away the excess fat and then put them back in with the sauce
    - Let that simmer with the lid on for about 5 minutes
    - Cover the chicken in sauce and you’re done!

    Just made this. Here's my critique. But first, I must mention some things I had to change.
    First, I didn't change the recipe at all. It was perfect. I simply had to make more of it. I also added some summer squash and a green pepper for extra veggies for my family. That is the only change I made. I cooked the veggies separately.
    For my critique, I'll simply say this. The teriyaki cooked up sublime, making a glaze even with a double batch. The taste was spot on. Needlessly to say, I am very impressed. Arigato gozaimashita! Kono teriyaki ha oishii desu!

    • @ChauNyan
      @ChauNyan 3 года назад

      It's nice that you made this for your family by making more batches, but this recipe is designed for single portion. Remember, it's a dish that Ryosuke made for recovery after exercise. I'd say the recipe as it is perfect for that purpose.

    • @WaltRBuck
      @WaltRBuck 3 года назад

      @@ChauNyan I know what you're saying, but I have enough experience to know that in this particular case, making more wouldn't change anything. He made it for recovery, but I made it for dinner. Lol. It worked perfectly down to the textures and consistencies of the finished product.

    • @nigelinoooo
      @nigelinoooo 2 года назад

      @@WaltRBuck I agree. You can basically add or exclude whatever u want. The basics in this case are crispy thigh chicken, the sauce, green onion. I do believe the onion is an amazing complimentary vegetable and should be included. I also made this dish today and it was the first time I nailed teriyaki chicken. In my case I added some freshly grated garlic to the sauce because I love garlic, and next time I will eat it with some rice included. Oh yea I used white sugar instead of brown sugar.
      If I have to change anything to this recipe then I would probably want to take out the chicken and onion after they crisp up. Keeping the oil in the pan and start sautéing the sauce for 4 or 5 minutes. When that's done I can pour the sauce over the chicken and vegetables so that it stays crispy.

    Ok, so seeing you clean your own dishes at the end is very humbling. I honestly only watched your video because of Chris Broad. I will stay because I felt this was a very heart felt and sincere video. Your passion really shows through. Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu.

    just made this and is delicious! i added a tbsp each of ginger and garlic 🤤 the soy sauce (used light) had enough salt so next time i won't salt beforehand. thanks for a recipe staple, Ryosuke!
