Having tasted over 1,500 different whiskies over the last 10 years and successfully invested in bottles and casks I can state with absolute certainty that it does not always improve in the cask. It very much depends on the quality of the cask - and that is something these two characters are not telling you. When you buy a cask of whisky you must know the provenance of the cask to determine its quality. There are few things worse in life than tasting a very old and expensive whisky that is actually not very good. And it happens !
