I think there is a great movie to be made about the relationship between James Yimm Lee and Bruce Lee. I would do it with James as the central character with Bruce's first scene being the day Allen Joe walks into Ruby Chow's restaurant on JYL's behalf.
Yes, that would be excellent. There are a couple of entertaining books about this period, called The Dragon and The Tiger, cowritten by James' son. How much of the books is true is another story, but it would still be an excellent movie.
@@NH1973 Yes, the books by Greglon and Sid Campbell are certainly a good read, although as you say, it's difficult to know how much of it is true. The book by Allen Joe also has some interesting insights into the Oakland period too.
@pietrobembo I'd like the KFG to do a review of the Greglon and Sid Campbell books. I found them very readable and interesting, and there's probably a lot of truth in them. But one red flag is the description of Bruce meeting and learning from Gin Foon Mark.
I’d say 100 Yards is a pretty lit in terms of the amount of fight scenes within it, and it from the same guy that did the Final Master and The Grandmaster
In november I attended the Wong Shun-Leung Students Association Homecoming Gathering in Hongkong, met a early WSL student, apparently Bruce Lee wasn't liked that well among WSL early students.
The consensus of “Wing Chun seniors” is perhaps the most overrated goals one can look for. With few exceptions one is accepted insofar as they don’t rock the boat, follow expected protocol, and “toe the line”. Anyone who has ever accomplished anything in any field was rarely one of those.
The movie that everyone wants to see made is this: ' *Alright* *Peeps* : *The* *Multiverse* *of* *Madness* ' In which we follow the life of lowly Grey Tyson; a smooth headed young man who tries to put on a brave face despite the constant barrage of verbal abuse inflicted upon him by his boss - a snarky Bud Bundy lookalike - who we later find out in the film, secretly stems from the family of a failed Austrian painter that had been quite notorious in the late thirties/early-to-mid forties. The opening shot could be of a grimy building in Hell's Kitchen. The camera pans up to the roof, where perched on the very edge we get the first glimpse of our hero. Next, we get a close up of his world-weary visage and a single tear as it rolls down his cheek - the result of a particularly vicious bout of vocal violence from Bud. With a sigh... he lifts his right leg and as it hovers, precariously in mid air, a portal suddenly opens above him and out flies a cape and Ray-bans wearing doppelganger who shouts (coolly), "Don't do it, Grey! The fate of Wing Chun, Hip Hop and existence itself, depends on it!!!" "Wh... who... are you?" - Grey eventually manages to stutter out... after about 47 takes. "I'm you, Grey. Except, where I come from, I'm known as the *Great* *Yson* - the smartest man in the world." The camera once more zooms in on Grey's face - a perfect combination of amazement and gormlessness. Cue the opening music from Hans Zimmer... What do you think? Blockbuster or what? We could even have this secondary subplot involving one of Grey's friends, an outwardly pompous English fellow, whose pretentiousness is really a cover to hide the fact that he wants nothing more in the world than to transition into becoming a Geisha girl and perform a tea ceremony in Kyoto. There could be long lingering shots of him staring at kimonos in shop windows with faint Japanese music playing in the background. I think we're onto a winner, Alex. You call Scorsese and I'll pitch in five bucks. Let's get it done!😎
What if Yip Ching and Yip Chun help their father raise Bruce. They were the ones that told Bruce that Wing Chun doesn’t have any footwork and taught him wrong on purpose, hijinks and hilarity ensues! Call the movie Three Man and a Kick-ass Baby.
"Rooftop Rumbles" might get confused with "Rooftops" an 89' martial arts/musical with Jason Gedrick(Iron Eagle), Luis Guzman, and Tisha Campbell about Capoeira before it became popular
KFG please try to get a hold of 88 Films' blu ray of Snake In The Eagles Shadow. It has the last on camera interview with HJL student Roy Horan, who goes into great detail about this challenge match and how they prepared for it. Even gearing up in tights for less resistance lol. Amazing interview im sure you'd enjoy it. Obviously there's also the commentary he did with Bey Logan.
Hwang Jang-lee was born in Japan to Korean parents and according to people close to him he killed a Japanese knife fighter that claimed weapons were superior to any kick ,he was proven wrong when lee kicked him in the neck and killed him ,he was not arrested because of self defense motive. Not sure if that was the reason he ended up leaving Japan . As a big fan of him ,, growing up in the 80s I tried to find out more about him and was lucky enough to meet a few people that knew him and trained with him. Love his kicking style .
On the WSL topic, would be cool to hear your thoughts on Goldenbells latest “The Real Reason Yip Man Stopped teaching Bruce Lee” video he dropped a few days ago. He mentions how he met WSL and how his training was… be cool to hear what you thought and how accurate the video is.
Dres hip hop movie should be called "Hip Man." Were Ip Man first fights then unifies all the gangs & the movie ends with him breakdancing at a block party while everyone chants "GO IP MAN, GET BUSY!" 💩🎬😂
If they ever do make that "Ip Man 5," of course they're going to up the fantasy factor. (Ugh.) I would love to see a more believable drama, maybe have Donnie Yen as a Yip Man on his deathbed, sadly, from cancer, recounting his early life as a child during the end of the Qing Dynasty, then have the film be a flashback to the early 1900s during the upheavals of the last gasp of the Qing Dynasty, with Yip Man's story as a child, teenager, and young man amidst the changes, with the role martial arts would play in the forging of a post dynastic "Chinese" identity, even as the Southern Cantonese speakers try to hold on to their local identity as the Chinese Republic a homogeneous "China." But I know that will never happen(!), so "Ip Man" vs. either a young Charles Ng or Charles Sobrhaj (choose one of those serial killers!) during the 1968 flu epidemic in Hong Kong(!) will probably be in the offering.😁
Yes I would love to see wrath of the dragon on the big screen so all of these people out here saying that bruce didn’t teach Joe Lewis and chuck Norris and see how Bruce Lee handled these guy’s so easily
They should NEVER make a non-documentary movie about either Yip Man or Bruce Lee. It's time to create or find new heroes, myths, etc. rather than keep relying on the tragically overdone tropes disguised at "true life" films. I'm at the point where I'd rather be entertained by The Last Dragon I than Ip Man 12 - Ghost of Chum Kiu Past or Enter The Dragon 5.

An Alexander Fu Sheng movie would be awesome.
I agree
A Phil Collins reference *and* a Dreison hypothetical in the first 10 mins? Nice
🤣🤣

“WRATH OF THE DRAGON” book by John Little would be an awesome movie 👍
I believe a movie about Yip Man's introduction and early training in Wing Chun would be great
A Michael Chan Wai Min movie would be wild.
Indeed!
KFG was done at “Grandmaster DJ” 🤣
100 yards and The Final Master. 2 movies im checking out this weekend :)
Rumor has it, Mickey’s Yip Man movie includes a Phil Collins soundtrack 🔥

good one KFC Productions

I want to see all these movies....even the ones from Dre😁
Wong Shun Leung movie would be a masterpiece. There could be 4 films. Based on my research.
My idea would be a john woo type gun fu film called Wing Gun. A bit silly but picturing Donnie Yen doing wing chun with guns might be pretty badass.
Love it
The Bruce Lee & Wong Shun-Leung story *has to be* made! I want that RIGHT NOW :-)
We almost had the return of Dreison. We miss you Dreison!!
All 4 Ip man movies 10$ on Apple TV. They were like 40/50$ the other day
What if Yip Ching and Yip Chun help their father raise Bruce. They were the ones that told Bruce that Wing Chun doesn’t have any footwork and taught him wrong on purpose, hijinks and hilarity ensues! Call the movie Three Man and a Kick-ass Baby.
Lol
Hey everyone! Sorry I'm late ....crazy weekend and catching up today!
Then the ESTATE suddenly picks up on the idea of producing an epic Wing Chun movie based on your discussion....
funny episode
The Kingdom zombie show that Mikey mentions here is legit. It’s on Netflix.

I'm actually surprised they never made a film about the talking hands of chinatown.i would watch that
Well if I don’t know who the “talking hands of Chinatown” is/was, I don’t think the general public would know.
@TheKungFuGenius 🤣🤣sorry I meant Hong Kong .
Oh haha ok!
Ip Man 7: Ip Man vs Prince Phillip vs Godzilla
Hahaha
Quoting you. “BOTD was a POS” I agree
In the Air entered the Chat…
Unrelated did yall see that show Warrior that Shannon Lee produced? So good + the main character does wing chun (in jkd form lol)
I’ve discussed my dislike for that series many times on the show. I get that people like it, I’m just not one of them.
@@TheKungFuGenius Ahh okay lol gotta peep that. I can understand not liking it too fr
Sifu Alex Richter, are you a fan of The Doors too? I noticed the book No One Here Gets Out Alive on the rack. Have you seen the Oliver Stone's movie?
I went through a big Doors phase as a young pre-teen. Of course I’ve seen the film!
@TheKungFuGenius we got a lot in common 😅

Ip Man vs Kiangshi (Jiangshi)!!!
Did you see 100 yards yet?
Nope
if you got screen writing issues , make it a cartoon series
