Gays Against Groomers: Stop the indoctrination & medicalization of children. 2023 Florida Testimony.

- On Feb 21, 2023 the Florida House Health & Human Services Committee heard testimony from David Leatherwood, representing the Florida chapter of the activist group Gays Against Groomers.
He outlined the group's opposition to the use of "the LGBT community" as a shield by radical activists to push for indoctrination and tacit sterilization of gender diverse youth.
He describes a hijacking of the LGBT community at large by trans activists who use coercive and threatening tactics to silence differences of opinion and demonize those who don't agree.
He points out that this situation has led to a backpedaling of the general acceptance of LGBT individuals in society, as this coercive situation has made it more preferable to be labeled anti-LGBT than to endorse the irreversible harm to gender diverse children.
His primary theme was to make the case that it is NOT bigotry or hatred or anti-LGBT to speak up against those who would indoctrinate and medicalize and thus sterilize gender diverse kids, many of whom are just discovering their sexuality.

Greetings from Brazil. I am gay & am absolutely against of what they have been doing with kids. It is happening in Brazil, as well. Well known university hospital of USP ( University of Sao Paulo) such "medical treatment" has been carried out.

That speaker raises many important issues but he is wrong when he claims that the LGBTQ community is "sick of this". In fact, it is the LGBTQ community that is doing this and the sane community that has laid the blueprint on how to achieve these goals.
He and his group should be applauded for standing up against "groomers" but all too little are. Until more are, he is factually wrong.
Transgender activists glommed onto the gay community to advance their sick agenda. I'm a lesbian and all of the gay people I know are against what trans activists are doing to children.

Thank you. While I am in disagreement with certain ideas about gay marriage (I am against it), I never expected that it would empower an activist collective that would pull something like the "trans kid" idea and implement it. I viewed homosexuals as wrong, not evil but the harassment from the Trans and pro-LGBT activists has shattered my faith that "most gay people just want to live their lives quietly without hurting anyone".
Seeing homosexuals stand up against the LGBT activists does suggest more co-existence is possible than I feared.
the push from the 'activists' on trans issues has a sinister feel to it I believe. How come all these minority issues are suddenly being backed by governments around the world? green issues, veganism, people of colour, trans/gay were always grass-roots movements. When prime ministers and mainstream media start pushing these issues I smell a great big rat. I've been in various minorities, most of the above since I can remember and the fact that governments are seemingly now behind us does NOT feel right or good. There certainly are trojan horses; hijacking ; co-opting and piggybacking ~ we are being manipulated from the shadows. This man David Leatherwood speaks for my heart too on this subject. Please don't think that all lgbt folks are for this twisted sham of so-called compassion and inclusivity towards trans issues that has been medicalised and been turned into a social contagion, especially against teenage girls. Why are those who regret their transition being silenced? because it's more than just a people thing, it's being pushed by those who have a lot more power than a bunch of lgbt minorities and stand to benefit from all the chaos they are sowing in the world. Truth will endure though, not this BS.

I am 100% in favor of marriage equality for homosexual couples. In contrast, the transgender rights activists are attempting to « trans the gay away ».
No one can possibly give truly informed consent for medical or surgical gender transition before they are adults.

Children are not property. You are their Guardian, not their Owner. Hey, I am sorry that you have had to go through the trauma of your child having to explain something to you should have already figured out, but get over it. After them, it's nothing but people trying to avoid their actual problems by pointing fingers at things that aren't happening against a group of people too vulnerable to defend themselves.
How SICK are these Republicans?
You might be surprised to learn that there are many democrats and libertarians and other non-republicans that also see problems with the Gender Affirming Care model for gender non-conforming kids. It is not a partisan issue for those who are opposed to it (though, it does appear that those who support it are mostly found in one party)

I’m a life long leftist and I wholeheartedly support the message of gays against groomers. As a matter of fact, there’s TONS of people on the left that are against this incoherent ideology. When people say that this is a far right message of hate then they’re counting on you to not do your homework and to look the other way. That’s what I did for a long time, unfortunately. It would also be a mistake to equate this extremist trans movement with regular trans people who just want to live their lives and get on in society. That’s not what this is. He was absolutely correct in saying that the new extremists are using LGBTQIA as a Trojan horse. Us lefties fell for it hook line and sinker.
