- The Ineos Grenadier four wheel drive vehicle come equiped with prewired 10amp power outlets to the front footwells. They are difficult to locate and in this video I show you how to find them and how I have connected to them.
Great. Love the clarity. On the ineos forum somebody else explains where to find the wires but I found his explanation and pictures very confusing
Thank you I am glad it was helpful. Thanks for your interest and comment. John
Another excellent video, John. Extremely helpful, and clearly presented. 🙂
Thanks Michael, I appreciate your comments, John
Nice job John, well done. Really appreciate your video. Safe travels in your G Wagon.
Thanks so much I appreciate you comment.John
Thank you I appreciate you showing this to us. I was personally curious how one connects to the pre-wires... so that answers it 🙂
Glad I could help, Thanks for commenting, John
TY John! Just answered a question that no ones been able to answer here in the states!
Thanks so much. This was super helpful for a newbie like me. Hardwired a digital review camera and this was great advice on how to remove the panel and find the wires.
Thank you so much!
This is one of next tasks, so I find the video very useful
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching , I appreciate your comment. John
Great vid John. Really helpful
Thank You
If I not mistaking John, you remind me of a little boy with a new Toy🤣🤣🤣 It's great you can pick up power and the switch is there as well..Well done John.
Well, spot on, I feel like a little boy with my new toy....I think I even giggle at times. Really appreciate your comments, thank you, John
Great tip to access the drivers side power.. the panels look simple to remove. I’d be interested to see how you route the new cable.
Thanks, It not too hard to get the cable back, went under the mat, unscrewed the trim at the bottom of the B pillar tucked it behind and then there is an octagonal grommet under the cargo area mat that takes you underneath. Just let me know if you need more detail, John
Nice video. They were really well hidden on mine the driver’s side (RHD). Thought I was going mad, but they were taped up very securely behind the large loom down there
Yes , they didn't make it easy. Hope my vid helped. Thanks for commenting, John
thank you makes things a lot easier
Glad to hear that! Thank you for watching, John
Great clear video, cheers mate.
Thank you, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment, John
Hi John, great video thanks. Do you have more information on how the duel battery system is configured?
Well it is not configured as a seperate battery for auxiliary use, it is more of a support battery for the cranking battery. Check out the Grenadier forum there is heaps of useful info there, Cheers John
Good stuff! Dashcam wired to either side seems doable now
Glad it was helpful, thanks for your interest. John
John to get the wires up to the camera that you installed did you run it along the trim or up inside the Pillar and out the headliner or where did you bring the wires out for the caravan camera ?
I ran along the floor edge under the sill trim and the out through a grommet under the cargo mat towards the front on the drivers side. RHD.
Hope that helps if you need more let me know. John
@@cannyoutdoors ahh ok thought you were powering the monitor which is what I want to do with a camera dashcam up on my fieldmaster windscreen , so you used this to power a rear camera and then connected wirelessly I am guessing
Thanks for that, John. You mention fitting a reversing camera - how did that go? Did you make a video? I'm thinking of a Wolfbox system... comments?
Hi,
I have a rear view camera by a com[pnay call Safety Dave (Australia) they have a good reputation and I am happy with it. It has a second channel and I am considering add their numberplate reversing camera. However I have had a look at the Wolfbox and it looks pretty good. I like the setup with the the dash cam being integrated, also price looks OK. I reached out to Wolfbox to get some more info but unfortunately all they did was refer me to their website. Sorry can't offer much more than that, if you go ahead let me know what you think.
Thanks for contacting me, John
Thanks, John. I'm just back home after a flying visit to Cairns and I am making a booking to go back to Westco for the recall transfer case replacement - suppose that applies to you too. One of the plus points of the Wolfbox for me is the slim camera - useful as I really want to fit it high up and was thinking of either glueing it to the interior of the back window, or externally on the back edge of the roof. The second option means making a hole and I'm reluctant about that. In fact, I'm a bit chicken about the whole fitting exercise - running a data cable the length of the roof and then taking power either from the internal footwell connection or even from the overhead switch (is that possible). Can't help feeling I'd be better off giving it to a reliable auto-electrician - know of any in Cairns? Thanks and hope to meet some time...
thts good.I there info on this in the owners manual .How did you know that they were there? You can also get joiners from say Jaycar which have an dhesive and a low temperature solder that you use like heatshrink in melts the solder and adhesive to make a joi in the wire
Hi Paul, no the owners manual is devoid of much useful information. A fair bit of fossicking around and a good multimeter was necessary. Yes the joiners you mention are also good option. Thanks for your comment and advice. John
John Thanks for your videos. Very helpful. Did you connect your review mirror to same power outlet as the UHF radio?
No, I used the power outlet on the opposite side (driver side) Ext 5. Hard wired the cable there tucked away so I pull it out and connect it to the monitor when I use it. All works well. The other side, Ext 4 has the UHF , a cigar socket and usb socket connected.Hope that's useful and thanks for your interest, John
Sorry I meant Int1 and Int 2 on the switches not Ext 4 and 5, John
Thanks. Clear and helpful. On the LHS have you connected both the UHF radio and the USB plugs to these wires?
Yes I have, the main use will be powering the radio. It consumes only 1.7A. Thanks for your interest, John
In recent builds of the INEOS, those Torx T27 bolts been replaced with hex bolts.
Interesting! I hadn't heard that, thanks, John
@@cannyoutdoors Mine has hex head bolts, VIN 7719.
Brilliant - thanks!!
You're welcome! Thank you for commenting John
Hey John, what did you do to overcome the lack of an Anderson Plug at the rear of the Grenadier?
Hi Les, My auto electrician wired the Nato socket around the relay which unlinks it from the 500A winch switch ( the relay accessed through the panel on the right hand side of the cargo area) this makes it permanently live. I then had to buy a Nato plug and make up an adapter to an Anderson plug. Pretty convoluted process I know, but it works. Some are just getting an Anderson plug run separately, In hindsight possibly a better option. Hope that helps, John
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! John
Are they powered all the time, or ACC or IGN?
Hi, Most are powered on ignition (or Acc) . The rear cigar lighter in the cargo area seem to be constant live but runs off the starter battery, so need to consider that.
Cheers, John
Nice thank you
Thanks Andrew, John
John. Does the manual not show where ALL the switched wires are located, for add one. That would be STUPID, on Ineos part. I guess Ineos, does not have any common sense, for whom every made their manual. Please correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks.
Unfortunately you are not wrong. The provided manual is of little use for anything and it is proving difficult to get any technical information on the car. This is most disappointing and very frustrating😠 and certainly not what was promised. Thanks for your interest Robert , Cheers John
WOW, this fact, from you now has me considering NOT buying the INeos. That’s SOOOO unfortunate.@@cannyoutdoors
No it's not a reason to not buy , the good well and truly outlays the negatives, John
question where is the OBD 2 LOCATED
I believe it's the yellow port under the right hand drivers side dash, but I can take advice on that.
@@cannyoutdoors it is John - love your videos please keep them coming - are you doing anything re draws and/or fridge slide? ditto air compressor and/or rear camera on mirror?
@@cannyoutdoorsvery helpful, obviously I'm just doing dry runs😢 when when when when when 😂from Steve near Chester England 🏴 where the Roman's once lived.
Thinking of drawers for sure, just waiting till a few local manufactures get on board. Air compressor definitely and have already installed a rear vision camera.. seperate monitor. Cheers John
I can't find the EXT1 under the hood (supposed to be near the Airfilter on RHD)
Very hard to find but it is there... good luck with it. John
