    UPDATE: So I received my new GB Pro Power Elongated yesterday took the clear protective wrapping off the grip, and put it on my very accurate Hario gram coffee scale that I check weighed( 200g brass check weight) it was 223 G which is 7.866 Oz. It was in perfect condition Quality control wise, and I took it to the indoor courts and hit around with it, took a lesson on 3rd shot drop technique and placement with the local pro with it and then hit some singles with it. All bone stock. It did not feel in any way over powering, it was nice and quiet, swung well, and seemed to have a decent sweet spot. No alarm bells went off with it in my hand, the spin was nice and quick as well. The soft touch seemed to be there too. I have GB protective edge tape and lead weights as well as an GB overwrap coming tomorrow so I will apply the overwrap, and protective tip tape but hold off on the lead. So far a very nice paddle . BUT now the nagging thing in my head....is it an mis marked control paddle( I doubt it) but it doesn't seem to be a ripper like everyone talked it up to be and then some said they think they got a control paddle instead of the power...seems a tall order to mis-label a paddle.... IDK without trying multiple ones.

    Are you guys using a different swingweight machine because most other reviewers have the SW at 120ish for the elongated and 110ish for the fusion

    • @PickleballCentral
      @PickleballCentral  11 месяцев назад +3

      Great question, we use the 4-in-1 testing machine from HEAD that measures swingweight from a location higher up the paddle than other reviewers in the space. PBC uses a pivot point for testing swingweight 10cm up from the butt cap while others use one 5cm up. The major benefit using the 5cm mark is a larger spread of data as the numbers will be higher across the board making it easier to decipher the difference between paddles. The 10cm mark is the tennis industry standard and what we see as the average point of rotation on a paddle (about the distance up the grip of most peoples' hands).

    Just out of curiosity, how are you getting those swingweight numbers? It appears that the Fusion models are closer to 110, and the Elongated models are closer to 120. Rather than "light" and "moderate", that would be more aptly described as "moderate" and "heavy". The Gruvn Muvn 13S has a swingweight of 99, and that would be considered "light". I doubt there are any paddles on the market with a swingweight as low as 84. edit: nevermind, I saw the other comment you left. But if 88 is roughly equivalent to 120, that's on the heavy side.

      I'd be curious to know what swing weight machine Gruvn uses. GB uses the ROSINGNOL version for their number.

    So, what is with all the foam? Is it EVA foam? Is this the first approved EVA hybrid?

    On the power pro elongated did you feel like you needed to add any lead, and if so how much and where do you think it would be beneficial for this paddle to increase its overall playability, If any. Thanks

      I added weight to the bottom corners to bring the balance down slightly, and I'm considering moving it underneath the grip to make it closer to my preferred spec.

    Will someone please explain to me why my Gearbox Power Pro Elongated has no power and even less pop? I have never seen a paddle got such great reviews so I had to buy one and I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with the paddle! What am I missing? I am a 5.0 player and I hit with a lot of top spin but my volleys had less pop than my Ronbus by far!!! Not happy at all with this paddle!!!

  • @timkadom1722

    I wish you would use the 5cm mark. Pickleball is not Tennis, so there is no benefit to being consistent with the way tennis measure swingweight. Alas you stated you get a better spread with the 5cm mark, and more importantly you align with what the majority of the pickleball community is already familiar with. I have no idea how to interpret your swingweight number relative to other paddles, and it is really not helpful to see these numbers for me. Please consider adopting the standard, and kudos to you for making an effort to provide a number even though at the moment it is likely a source of confusion for most players.

    If you are one of the many who paid a premium for this paddle and got a dud. And Gearbox won't stand behind the warranty. Simply file a claim in your community small claims court to hold them accountable.
