MASTERPIECE!!!
Its a hip-hop song about NOT being cool enough to get the girl. When is the last time you heard THAT kind of honesty in the scene?!?!
Anything by Spose lol
not many, especially at the time when gangster rap was the thing
Except for Imani's verse.. he passed on that chicken head
@@kovert6407 Thats some youngster shit your spouting....
You dont have the proper life skills to understand, I guess.
But you WILL! Sooner than you want to understand.
Trust me on this shit
@@echopryme shut up bro
The Pharcyde is soo underrated 😔
J-Swift actually produced this. J Dilla came around by their 2nd album but RIP to him and J Dilla tho
ooh shit, J Swift passed away?
J- swift still alive fuck he talking about lmao
J-Swift ain't dead!
Exactly. Give J-Swift his flowers. Dude was Pharcyde as much as the mc’s. Dilla came in only on Labcabincalifornia but it is hard to seperate both for many.
One of my top 10 hip-hop songs. This song is greatness."Now there she goes again , the dopest Ethiopian" thats some next level rhyming.
Yes. 🙌🏼
absolutely one of my most favorite beats
These guys were in a way the west coast A Tribe Called Quest. Love their music
I could buy that analogy.
Souls of mischief for me
I'm 41 and this was one of my first CD's I ever got when I was in the 8th grade. Still fire!
Facts!!! I just turned 41 yesterday! The 90’s had the dopest artists.
They are each talking about a different girl. The music video kinda illustrates it.
Fatlip absolutely killed the last verse. You should check out "What's Up Fatlip."
Fatlip is just too cool.
YES. Love Fatlip ❤
Thanks man
I was a senior in H.S when this came out. In art class I did a collage on Hip Hop and cut the lyrics out of the Source. Needless to say I received and A for the collage.
“She makes me a go getter”
Go get her
So dope
Pharcyde needs more love
Pharcyde - Drop (whole video was filmed in reverse) but audio is normal. Shit is wild.
That's a flippin classic..we need a review!!
And that’s definitely Dilla on that track!
This beat definitely sounded like it was a NY group back in the day. You're right!
You should check out the Pharcyde songs Drop (the music video is incredible), and Runnin (both also produced by the genius J Dilla)
Drop is the illest video ever made IMO
Runnin' is 100% *chef's kiss*
I agree directed by spike jonez ...The beasties appear in that video.
By far the best video ever
It’s also cool to see sampling not just from the instrumentation, but also the lyrics from songs. In the third verse of this song starting with “...my dear my dear my dear...” ended up being the chorus for Stutter by Joe ft. Mystikal in 2001.
The Pharcyde - Runnin'
This album was a huge part of my 90's high school soundtrack....
"Walk past MC's like that girl did The Pharcyde" - Phife Dawg on the Tribe Called Quest song God Lives Through
This song was so dominant ,that B E Ts Rap City had a top 10 every Saturday morning ,and it was number 1 for about 3 months straight.
I wish I was born in the 90's. I love old school music.
Exactly
This is my favorite of all time. Thank you for keeping it going
The song is actually a sample of Quincy Jones' "Summer in the City."
4 months after I heard it and commented the first time, I've had time to think about this...
There's a difference between having "skills" and having "art"...
THIS SHIT IS ART!!!
Letting them pass will make you a better man! She don't wanna be saved!!
Killing it with old school hip hop reactions recently man, keep em coming 🔥
I think of New York when I hear this beat too!
Actually, Kim K wasn't the beauty standard back then at all. You should really see the models in the video. They were regular brown-skinned women.
Keep in mind, this album, The Chronic, dropped in the same week. CA has hella different sounds and styles. From LA to the Bay, CA, all day.
This song is so nostalgic. It brings back so many fond memories
You right bro this beat Lowkey sounds like a east coast beat it goes hard fasho.
J Swift the og 50 yrs old now he lowkey af
Dude! I've been waiting so long for this shit. One of the best beats of all time. Great song.
For those that don't already know, that scratching at the beginning of the song is a sample from the song 'Are you Experienced' By Jimi Hendrix. That is actually Jimi playing the guitar, not scratching on turntables.
The beat was by j swift,he did the whole album
The B.U.M.S were a group from the Oakland area. They were in my opinion criminally underrated. You should check out "Elevation "
You gotta do the video of this. It was super innovative.
Yooooooo This Is My S**t Yeah Ahmad Great Reaction My Dude This Is Classic Hip Hop Love The Pharcyde ❤ Gotta See The Video Too Ahmad It's Epic 💯💯 And They Got Another You Should React Too As Well "Runnin'" it's fire 🔥 R.I.P J.Dilla Keep up the good work Alpha Ahmad and 😄😄😄💪🏿
Damnn crazy they used the word simp even back then
Dis One of the og friendzone simp jams.
my man! love your respect
Good reaction bro , keep it on this type of rap
The memories😳 when I hear this song🙌🏼
Absolute classic! Dave Mirra BMX soundtrack!
This instrumental was a favorite to freestyle too
Was never their biggest fan but I could respect them being different on beats and rhymes than many of their contemporaries.
Love this song. Great as always bro. And that quarter zip is fucking fireeee. Also I think this song might be about a crush on a teacher
*I think you like Lords Of The Underground - Funky Child. Awesome 90s hip hop!*
Memories Of 1993'' 🎶🔥🔥🔥😎
Some reason this makes me think of De La Soul's -Shopping Bags.
Look at album cover more closely. Basically that rollercoaster is a woman lying on back with her legs open and the cart is about to enter.... well you can figure it out. Ya Momma is my fav track from this album.
Been waiting for this one!
They only sound like they're from NY being from LA because they recorded with the “boom-bap” original sound of hip hop.
You’re totally right in it sounding east coast, love your reactions :) first ones I saw were ur DOOM reactions. That’s how I knew u were a real one :)
This is my jam growing up!
The Music Video is one of the greatest in Hip Hop History .. Miss BET's Rap City & Yo MTV'S Raps ..
The car door in the video...HILARIOUS
The Alkaholiks, "The Next Level"
Unintentional Coastal Cross Over
Beats and Flow from both sides...
"RETURN TO SENDER"
MAGIC
The video is mad tight.
Holla if you still banging this in 2021 in your ride!
This on my hardrive in my truck. Plays once a week.
For sure the best was more of a NYC flow. This group was pretty big in NYC back in the day, the crossover was undeniable. Imo one of the best rap groups.
The album cover is a woman! What a FUN RIDE!!!
Hip Hop 101 🔥🔥🔥 Classic!
Yesss!!! great song reaction brother! You should check out Drop Also by The Pharcyde, video is lit
Gotta check out the group People Under The Stairs, even if it’s just on your own.
O.S.T. Album is 🔥🔥🔥
You should check out The Goats, any songs off "Tricks of the Shade."
Soul flower remix- the pharcyde
Drop- the pharcyde
Ya momma- the pharcyde
They were from LA but they had eastcoast/NY vibes like crazy. Totally outside of the Westcoast lane. Reason Dilla went on to produce them.
Same drums that mad NY producers sampled, from Stezo to EPMD to you name it.
You should listen to drop or runnin by them. Both classics
I saw them play at a free music festival it was so sick !!
Otha Fish from the first album was the jam too.
Long shot but, anyone remember the song/remix that uses this song and the chorus? It was from around the early 2000's.
Joe- stutter
You should check out the video. Normally I prefer the track off the album too, but this was a great video
Check out Brand Nubian... they had some nice hits too...
saludos desde mexico
The reason it sounds like East Coast music is because it's original hip Hop..... People think of West Coast music has like Dr Dre too short type shit but this was originally hip hop just when tribe called quest and de la soul were doing their things pharcyde was doing the exact same thing just they were in LA
Outkast ....song called mighty o
This is a dope track. Took me back to my hs days
Check Quincy Jones- Summer In The City for the original.
Yep, and Jimi Hendrix "Are You Experienced" is the intro that sounds backward.
Runnin and She Said
Have you ever done "The Choice is Yours" by Black Sheep? Just curious. If not... do that next!!!
They're spitting about girls from their past. Reminiscing on their crushes from girls becoming women. Lmao, they're not talking about women like the Plastic Girls. These women are NATURALLY BEAUTIFUL & everyday ladies. Please watch the official video & it will all fall into place.
If you like Pharcyde you probably will like:
Pharcyde - Drop (watch the music video), Runnin, Somethin That Means Somethin
People Under The Stairs - Acid Raindrops, Time To Rock Our Shit, The Dig
Del The Funky Homosapien - Sunny Meadowz
Living Legends - Never Fallin, Nothing Less, Moving At The Speed of Life
Blu & Exile - Dancing In The Rain, True & Livin
Great reaction bro! I thought they were from ny too. They’re from California. You need to check out drop with the video. The beastie boys have a cameo in that video. It’s fire 🔥
This gonna take u thru the hieroglyphics movement when the west coast held down the boom bap era... classic s/o fatlip
Drop, Ya Mama, Otha Fish & Runnin' are good next steps...
... but here's some BONUS OPTIONS:
Runnin' (Philippians Remix) [same acapella, very special beat rework]
Fatlip - What's Up Fatlip [Bryon is right, it's great]
Gorillaz - Dirty Harry [ft. Booty Brown from the group]
They sound very East Coast Hip Hop. No doubt!
Check out "Running" by them.
Classic
like the blue leopard shirt man
If you like true underground hip hop check out "A Madman's Dream" by East Flatbush Project
Great track. First encountered them on Roc Raida Xfaderz mix - tried by 12 🔥
Emerald butterfly is by far the best pharcyde song.
Second dude that sung sounded like andre 3k
90's was my time
You must react to Other Fish from The Pharcyde
Crushing on school teacher
Great song.
Check out Renee by the Lost Boyz
Where are the hip hop groups today? You just don't see it anymore.
More people to split money with, more managers with fingers in the pie, more songwriting credits and royalties to divide, so less money for everyone involved. That's why. Also decades of rap groups being exploited.
Pharcyde with Sublime - doin time remix
Please react to other fish in the sea. It's the follow up to this song.
I’d rather play this “simp 101” song than all of Drake’s simpy discography 🤷🏽♂️
U should review the whole alvum
Mac slow ya roll is next reaction lil bro then his songs- My brother, battle cry, eyes of a killer
