I missed the beastie boys cameo 😭🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
He sampled the "Drop" from the Beastie Boys song, "The New Style". If you pay close attention, 2 of the Beastie Boys make cameos. The guy on the bike is Mike D and Ad-Rock pops in, wearing sunglasses and a blue shirt, and says "Drop" a few times in the hook.
That mf sound like Plankton
Yes...they...are...lol. The behind the scenes is crazy. They had a linguist create their 'backwards language' and they had to learn it for the video!
Bizzare Ride is a worthy album reaction. Also, Digital Underground's Sex Packets for west vibe.
I normally don’t pause Nas whenever he comes on, but as soon as I saw the title, I had to stop what I was doing to watch this. One of my favorite Pharcyde songs.
FACTS😂!!!!
THE GREAT JDILLA RIP
Even the sample was chop backwards.
The video was filmed in reverse AND the group members had to learn the song in reverse, so when it was played, it looked like they were saying it normally. Spike Jonze is the director, and was the director for BIG's "Sky's The Limit" video also. Check that one out too when you have a chance.
BizzarreRideToThePharcyde is one of, if not *the* dopest hip-hop album of all time. This album was cool
Maaaaan, I remember when this video first dropped. I tripped out by how everything was moving. Good times.
I can already tell 🔥🔥
They used to play the hell out of this on Yo! MTV Raps.
You need to put the Pharcyde in your rotation of albums to review if you haven't already, they are a vibe, before the vibe was a thing...LOL! I would start with "Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde" which was their intro to everyone outside of the West! (4 Better Or 4 Worse, is one of the craziest hip-hop songs ever made). Pharcyde and Souls of Mischief, and the Hieroglyphics Crew ushered in a different West Coast sound that was dope!
Video directed by Spike Jonze who has directed a few big films like H.E.R. and Being John Malkovich. He not only shot them moving backwards. They had to learn their lyrics backwards so their mouths would match. So they're reading this made up language off big cards that a whole crew of assistants had to come up with for them to learn weeks before shooting this video.
Yesss! But I don't think the movie is abbreviated like H.E.R. haha, that's the R&B singer. The movie is just Her. 😆 One of my all time favorites tbh, dude is a genius. Hate that he hasn't made a new one since (outside the Jackass ones).
Boy u digging deep in the vault now..u almost a vet
At this point 😂🥴🥴
@@KingAhmadTv yes sir..ur knowledge impeccable now 😂
That’s why the common sense, mos def , Lloyd Banks, Kool G rap, ice cube this types are important too
The white dudes are The Beastie Boys! That's them saying DROPPP!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
And the 'Drop' sample is from Beastie Boys...License to Ill is also another album review. Honestly probably one of the first album classics.
this was my intro to rap/hip-hop, this time...ATCQ, PE, BDP and so many more...glad I was around when it started, that time is long ago now - but I remember it fondly.
Amazing reaction to such a classic beat from the Pharcyde! Love this tune. Much love from Coventry, UK
Love your conscious thoughts cuh. This was and still is one of the greatest videos and songs ever
I think you did "Passing Me By" before.
Shout out to Tyler, DOOM, Dre, and 9th Wonder on the Producer tip too.
You should do whole album reactions for The Pharcyde's first two albums.
I saw someone below mention Digital Underground: Sex Packets for review too and I agree. It's a Top 10 greatest Rap album to me personally.
RIP DILLA
4:28 with the Adrock sample of 'Drop', Mike D rides past on a low rider bike.
back in the 90s & early 00s many rappers were speaking up on the industry. Krs One (Step into a World was his middle finger to Jive records), Ultra (the industry is wack), GZA (Labels), Dead Prez (Hip Hop) RA the Rugged Man (Every Record Label Sucks Dxck)... the problem was/is only "Real" Hip Hop heads new about this. those listening to corporate hip hop had no clue.
The best Hip Hop video ever! There is a short documentary on how it was made. They even hired a linguist to let the group learn their lyrics backwards for the video, crazy!
THEY ALSO WERE THE DANCERS IN THE MICHAEL JACKSON (REMEMBER THE TIME VIDEO) CHECK IT OUT THEY'RE RIGHT BEHIND MICHAEL.
lol at 4:28 and 4:33 one on the bike and one right in front of the camera 🤣🤣 the beasties
Stay on pharcyde:
Pandemonium
Soul flower (remix)
Otha fish
Devil music
Mr officer
Passing me by
Groupie theory
i think this is the greatest hip-hop music video of all time
"Industry rule number four thousand and eighty"...Q-Tip
J Dilla 🔥🔥🔥🔥. The reverse video goes with the reverse sample. Insane he made this back in the day on a beatmaschine

The drop sample comes from bestie boys
The sample Drop is taken from the a Beastie Boys track, has anyone noticed one of the beastie boys in the video riding a bike.
Bro i remember when this video came out and it blew my mind lol. Classic material!
You missed the Beatie Boys riding the bike and another one walk by and say "Drop"!
This video was before the movie Inception! The white Brothers are the Beastie Boys
One of the best tracks from The Pharcyde
And you're right about Dilla being the GOAT 😎
You can find sample breakdown of this beat on Tracklib YT channel
No question one of the best videos ever made and super dope tune as well.
This video is dope I wonder what the science was on recording the video.
One of my favorite videos ever.
Not only are they walking backwards the whole time, they practiced RAPPING backwards! Check the "making of"
It was a song from DJ Magic Mike called Drop. The Drop was a dance the girls used to do, especially on dudes. Ir was the predecessor to twerking today. I think He sampled it from the Beastie Boys.
"....Magic Mike...cuts the records!"
They were moving in reverse while everybody else was moving regularly and the video was played backwards to make it look like everybody else was moving in reverse.
Favorite video of all time....
They had to learn how to rap backwards to do this video so the words fit the audio! Dope azz video!
I don’t know if you did fish in the sea, but it’s dope!!
So here’s the real sauce on this song and video…clearly the group was moving in reverse…BUT…the organ sample in Dilla’s beat was ALSO playing in reverse…which probably is what inspired the idea for the video. 🫡🫡🫡
DROP!
If I'm correct Nas song where the story starts at the end and end in the beginning of the story came out after. The sample for the "um drop" came from Beastie Boys song "The new style".
Sorry, I'm late.
That is a fantastic fact
It’s sampled from beastie boys, that was ad rock saying drop in the video
PHARCYDE FTW!!
Love this song. May I suggest styles of beyond hard and easy back it up
Ohhhh this my shit!!! I still ride to this. Idgaf what nobody think either. They was considered weird. But the sound is so🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is probably the greatest rap video of all time. I saw these guys live on their tour of second album tour, and the guy who sang the second verse got arrested for a gun or drug charge in Japan and not perform. Not that it is a great thing but just adding my personal experience with this track,
Public enemy black steel in the hour of chaos
Goated group and and insane two album run, they collabed with jay dee on possibly top ten greatest hiphop albums of all time, I fkin adore this group, would love to see your reaction to Labcabincalifornia, greetings from one ahmad to another ❤❤❤
This is my joint
Album is a Classic 5 mic to me
Come on man!!!!! I got a request.
De La Soul-Millie Pulled a Pistol
Legendary beat wif great Emcees 😎
I Chopped and Screwed this
You gotta do a reaction to their first two albums
Still one of the dopest videos.
Industry rule number 4080.....
Jedi Mind tricks feat kool g rap Animal rap. Straight banger
Have you heard J dilla donuts? If you haven’t, once you listen, it’s just more support for him being the goat🔥a reaction would be dope
Beats from the East- Lost Boyz
Shad did a cool version of this for his video for “Rose Garden” where he did the video backwards and forwards. Shad is dope! Check that joint out. Shout out Beasties cameos and sample in this.
This album is real good Production is also damn good.
Cormega- Industry
Labcabincalifornia is a must to review if u love dilla esque beats
Slimkid3 (the one with locks and red jacket) is one of my favorites rappers ever, dude is so talented in all aspects
He has this song called postcards 4 princess, it's such a positive beautiful vibe
They the truth
Beastie Boy cameos and sample over a Dilla beat with a great concept. This video is undefeated.
1:33 😂❤❤🔌🔌🔌🔌🔌🤝🏾🫡😏
Cormega -Essential
J Dilla best to ever touch a sample
You never lied 🤦🏾♂️🔥
Dilla, Madlib, DOOM, Q-Tip were some of the pioneers. Now it's been carried by the likes of 9th Wonder, Alchemist, Knxwledge. 🙏
Will you please react to For Better or For Worse by them? I love the beat, and the last verse of the song and the video. Thanks for the channel!
Industry rule #4,080
Try "She Said (Jay Dee Remix)" next
Bought this when it came out didn't know it was JDillla after all this time. I deserve to lose my DJ card for that...
I was late too, I learned of J. Dilla from De La's "Stakes Is High" album because I wasn't really into who produced music then, like I am now.
Me too, my friends. I heard the name before but didn't really know until I heard this Mister Cee tribute mix that I don't believe is on RUclips anymore. These 2 Instrumental mixes (vol 1/2) routinely pop up and they are a vibe. Hard to believe how many artists he worked with on the RnB and Hip-hop sides.

Do “Ya Momma “ by the Pharcyde
❤😂
Ahmad where do you rank De la Soul and A Tribe Called Quest's production????? then give your top 5(or 10) as far as production.
Underground had to stick together and promote themselves... the record industry was more powerful back then
They also had to learn how to rap backwards and took classes for it as well just for this video.
J Dilla! Perfect reaction to that.
Do a reaction to Ed O.G - I Gotta Have it.... classic joint
what a choon and what a video
J dilla the original J D
nnnnnn Drrrrrrrrrrop
My joint.... produced by J Dilla..... Dilla is always wild
Classic track,Classic album and RIP to Dilla!!!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Need to do She Said off this album actually the whole album is classic imo but she said is amazing most folks prefer the remix which is a vibe as well but for my money the original is one of my favorite hip hop songs ever
You missed the beastie boy. DRRROP!!!
Do Methodman Spazola
I think as far as sheer quantity I'd say Rza is my favorite producer but no one had the same bounce and groove as Dilla
If your only doing a song you have to do “ she said”preferably the original album version it’s one of my all time favorite hip hop tracks and fat lips Verse is one of my all time favs by him a lot of folks prefer the j dilla remix which is a vibe but I loved the original since coping lab cabin California cd (which is where running and drop are both from as well) are the first day it dropped. Or you could do both and choose your favorite that being said this album as well as their debut album Bizzare Ride 2 the Pharcyde are both classics if you get a chance do the whole albums and the dopest thing about them is that both albums are classics in completely different ways with different vibes totally original and unique they were. Two more fun facts then I’ll quit bugging ya lol one is these talented cats got started before rapping as backup dancers on in living color the tv show and secondly Fatlip also has pretty strong solo album that could be checked out if you enjoy these two lps or worse case scenario definitely check for the writers block and what’s up fatlip off those albums. Basically these brothers are Ill and I really think you’d enjoy the creativity of the full length lps when you get a chance just judging how you’ve enjoyed the singles so far
I hear andre 3k and Dilla collab
Beastie boys in video
Yo King Ahmad. Do Beastie Boys Brass Monkey next.
I reviewed that a while ago. Go check it out 💯
@@KingAhmadTv
It's where J Dilla sampled the "Drop" from.
Did you miss Mike D. and Adrock in the video?
Check Rza chase one of the best rap tracks
