Yes definitely I am with the husband. Girls independence is one thing. But extra spending and extra shopping is another issue. And spending any money (apart from the groceries and food) should be a common decision by husband and wife and they can both ask each other about the extra spending. FYI I consider buying new clothes and jewellery just for husbands friends engagement an extra thing but helping out your (or husbands) brother, like the husband in this story did, not to be extra spending. And I am a girl. the issue that are trying to raise i.e. that housewife also have equal right to the husbands money, is correct. But the examples they are giving are wrong and somehow are diluting the problem/issue they are trying to raise
