I did that s-biners mod before, and replaced the splitter ring part with some good quality paracord (or zipper pull in your mod) since I don't want the rings or the s-biners to scratch the camera. The length adjustment part is genius!
I've never seen a self-made version of a PeakDesign strap. Very cool! I recently got one and I'm very happy with it, but this might help me with a cinesaddle that I have that doesn't have a quick adjuster. Nice!
Thanks for sharing these good ideas. I feel the same about these common straps, that's why I made my own from old trousers. They are unique, adjustable in length and have a small department for a battery. I shortly presented the prototype in a video on the "real need for street". Wonder why not more people are taking this matter in their own hands. Thanks again for the great video! Cheers
This mod is genius!! Thanks for sharing this! I always disliked how annoyingly difficult the original straps are to remove / attach, I'll definitely try this out! Your channel is gold, I'm looking forward to see what else you'd do here 🌟
Ordered everything a day after seeing this. I think everything is assembled correctly but I have trouble tightening and loosening the strap while I wear it. Not sure if my Sony A7 IV is too heavy or the kit strap has too much resistance. Thoughts?
@@albino7367 Yes A7IV is pretty heavy. The trick is to grab the strap and lift up the camera a little bit, pull the zipper tab in the direction vertical to the tension lock to minimize friction between the strap and the tension lock. Does that help?
I use the PD Slide lite with my Sony mirrorless but after a few years, it just feels so bulky. I saw a slim leather version of it on Clever Supply Co as Minimal Anchor Strap, but a bit expensive for my taste. What I did was buy PD anchors and had a leather expert make one from scratch for me based on the Minimal Anchor Strap.
I mean nice try, but I think this is far worse. But if you are happy with it that’s all that matters. I just use something called a JJC quick release. It’s a smaller sleeker version of peak design quick release so it doesn’t look terrible.
Nice thought though..and here you are making fun of the "dingleberry anchors".just flopping around.lol and yet you come up with something so messy looking and not have a minimalistic aesthetic at all!..for someone who said that the dingleberry PD anchors flop around..well this DIY strap you made looks worse!..all the excess strap when you adjust things looks horrible and worse when you are moving around I can imagine..just all kinds of extra strings and loops hanging out 6:15 - 6:21..the PD anchors have never failed on me and I have had some for like 5 years you get your money's worth for sure....I personally use the PD Leash on every camera I have even a body with a battery grip the Leash for me is perfect its slim and minimal unlike the other big straps that PD offer..lol and the anchor system is so fast and easy if I want to go complete handheld, for like a low angle shot I complete un anchor the camera... only takes seconds then I put it back on the Leash strap..thats what makes PD and others with this kind of system work..its simple in its design and function..yours have to adjust through this make ship "thumb loop" you added..its just looks congested for my taste..but appreciate the insight and suggestions..sure other people will find it very helpful...
@@ldmndz4652 Yoooo don’t get mad bro, it’s very cool you enjoy your PD strap! I said in the video I’ve used PD straps for 6 years so what I don’t like about them is from my real experience and taste. Also, I think mine look way cooler than PD especially paired with a leather strap but that’s my taste and it can certainly differ from yours. In the end, PD is a revolutionary company who inspired the whole industry, including this video. Thanks for your thought!
@@hans_mods I was just saying about your "design" and how the extra straps when you make adjustments looks and loops doesn't not look good at all...but your overall concept is good..I just don't prefer those extra loose things..lol

I'm sticking to my Peak Design strap since i got it second hand for half price but this is really clever! Looking forward to your next video!

Camera body will get scratches. and If you film video, your video file get metal sounds.
What is the water bottle holder for? For bottle?:) or as some thumb grip?
