This is the first time I've seen a Muslim/Ex-Muslim bring up what happened to Yezidi women, and it immediately brought tears to my eyes. Not very many acknowledge what happened to our women 😢

My husband had UD interpreters in 2009 Iraq that were such wonderful people. The group that turned into Isis was on his radar when he was there, and so we learned about the plight of Yezidi early on. I want you to know that I spent hours a day over many months, writing letters and emails and phone calls to everyone. I could think of to try to get attention onto what was happening on Mount Sinjar. I tried to connect women who escaped from Isis to our state department to the media to people in Congress to various NGO, or anyone who could either move the issue into the spotlight or help women who escaped recover or Anyone or anything who could help. I still keep the Yezidi people in my thoughts and prayers along with the Hostages held by Hamas. 🦚

I had cousin that lived there and her husband was a pilot for the prince... In her home the only thing she had to do physically was keep her and her husband's room clean, everything else was handled by maids, when her marriage started going south, she had three children two girls and a boy.... Her husband told her she could take the girls but.... she's not taking the boy.... So my cousin had to get an escape plan, there's some really, really great people there! My cousin was able to flee with all three of her children... Thank God... So for her that was pretty traumatic, they're all grown now... so I don't know what or if they've ever seen their dad again, because he's on the no-fly list.

It has been so enlightening to listen to Parts 1 & 2 of Nuriyah's journey. It is good to hear first hand accounts of living in certain cult circumsrances.
Her journey reminds me of the movie, "Not Without My Daughter" with Sally Fields and Alfred Moulina.
This movie is about an American woman married to an Iranian doctor who go to Iran to visit his family, and what transpires there; the devolution of her situation and the foreshadowing of her daughter's life under Islam, until she finally takes a treacherous trip through the foothills of Turkey with her 6 year old girl to reach an American embassy, I forget now, but I think the embassy was on the outskirts of Istanbul. Anyway, this movie is a true story and years later there were some interviews with Mahtob, the daughter. Excellent movie that clearly shows what usually happens because of the fundamentalist male-dominated indoctrination. (Highly recommend it.)
Many thanks to C2C for bringing lamps of light to dispel the cults of religious darkness. 🥀

Nuriyah, thank you so much for sharing your story. I can see how brave you are, and the terror you went through.I see how you continue to be brave in the sharing of your story and the hardship you have had in having to lwave behind your faith and your belief system. Not easy. I lived in Saudi when I was around 11. I like you, lived in a compound as well. One time we were out on a trip outside of the compound, and I was modestly dressed to repect the culture, however, I was not wearing anything over my light coloured hair. I had an older man with a beard grab my wrist and pull me into a side lane. I couldnt understand what he was saying in Arabic, however, I knew he was scolding me and motioning to my head that my hair needed to be covered. I got away from him luckily, and ran back to our bus. I was sitting and waiting for some of my mates to return. It was hot and the window was open. I had long hair, and I guess some of it was hanging out of the window. I had my eyes closed and was resting after my ordeal with the older male, when all of a sudden, I felt hard tugging o n my hair. I looked down and their was a boy a few years older that was trying to jump up again and grab my hair. It was so freaky. I know what you mean about how much more safe you felt in the compund. Life in the compound was like a fairy tale. We had an Olympic sized pool, a restaurant we could eat at for free, and a community centre for kids to play games and watch movies and hang out. I met my best friend there, and we have been life long friends. My story pales in compairison to yours; however, it really opened my eyes at how different everything was. The next time I went ouside the compound, I was on guard. Take care.

He would also claim it as THE truth and push for me to read it and if I would read it, I would understand the world. I never did as I just previously decided that religion isn't for me and I am really glad. It would have probably given him a bigger hold over me than he already had. Ex-evangelical here. In the high-control evangelical churches I grew up in, people who left the faith, especially people who came to the faith later in life, are called "backsliders." The church only wanted members to interact with them to the ultimate end of bringing them back to the fold. This knowledge of manipulation makes it hard for me to be close to my family that remains beyond general pleasantries. However, one of my closest relatives growing up has a wonderfully open-minded new spouse. I got to be in their wedding, tattoos and all, in the church's main worship space. That was a huge deal. Maybe over time, the spouse will be able to help them to a more reasonable worldview, with less self hatred and guilt around the rules of the church. I miss the person they were in high school and college, but they view that time of their life and testing of their own boundaries as such a shameful time period instead of a beautiful period of growth and mistakes... gosh I miss them being close and open with me. I guess we both judge each other now, but I just want them to believe that the life we live on this earth is as important as the next life or heaven. I want them to be happy in their skin on this planet and not fixated upon the return of Jesus as a possibility every single day. I want them to view the world as a place than can be fixed with compassion and good works instead of held in disdain for its "worldliness" and the failures of humanity. They tell me they finds joy in their life now (and with the new addition to our family, that can't hurt), but I see something else too when we talk about religion or politics or even music. Something dark that isn't like them, and it breaks my heart...

      Hi Jessica,
I also left, but Christianity in total. Yeah it's a cult alright & a complete counterfeit & replacement to the Lord Jesus Christ, as the only Pastor.
It's also confusion at best with it's 'moral relativism' which degrees from Church to Church, with it's hierarchies creating laws expecting their sheep to follow, which contradicts 2 things, the Book of Galatians & John 10. law & the Sheep who are supposed to be listening to him, not some 🤡 behind the pulpit, having no authority from the lord Jesus Christ.
Christianity is a Cult & counterfeit with no basis in the new testament. What we see now is actually a daughter to Rome! With all denomination springing from her & differing from her by degrees.
You as I have the right thing by leaving. Don't give up on Jesus Christ. He's the real deal.

At 18:00, where sexual assault (S.A.) is seen as adultery, that breaks my heart.
In 2008 in Somalia, a 13 year old girl was SA'd and reported it to the authorities, who happened to be Al Shabaab, an offshoot of Al Queda. The girl was charged with adultery, the terrorists thought she was an adult, and they stoned her to death.

There’s the journey of understanding, deconstructing, dealing with all sorts of people/society etc. but it’s such a huge ‘risk’ to address one’s own fears/mind, many many people will never go there. You pointed that out so well. It does take guts. Also I can imagine trauma hinders many people from even considering another reality. I know many progressive Muslims who take only the good from Islam. Like my father, is a very active Mormon.. but loves me, my voice, and understands his daughter. And any good Father would want smart educated children regardless of 'sex'. Sadly boys suffer as well in high demand religions. My experience is good people come from all these places. At times, I'm gobsmacked. Am a 46 year-old Muslim and it has never been this strict in Turkey. Ear piercing and staff for the husband to decide?! I think some Asians and Middle Easterners are pretty strict. The religion we know is nowhere near these things. We always say do your best and stay connected and thats it. I feel very sad for everyone who has had to go through all that. May God help them.

I am also a 64 year old Turkish woman. I have never felt obliged to give account to anyone since the moment I turned 18. I do not remember ever asking permission from my family or husband. I only provide information because I feel respect and love. The choice of clothes I wear and the type of alcohol I drink are only my business. I grew up in such a lifestyle in my family. Of course, I respect different lifestyles, but I prefer not to have them in my close circle. Yes, I am a Muslim Turkish woman and according to our religion, faith is between Allah and the servant and third parties have no right to intervene.

I’m an ex Orthodox Christian, there’s nothing to tell I just don’t believe in God anymore. Orthodox Christian is more cultural, you can go to church or not, no one cares, most parents don’t force anything on their kids despite the religion being strict. For example, 99% of Greeks are Greek Orthodox and the church is prominent in the country, everyone goes to church, celebrates Easter, Christmas etc. but it’s a liberal country. Orthodoxy, Catholicism etc isn’t a cult, the churches are big and have a lot of power but they’ve adapted to societal changes.

For example I could do so. But my story would be quite short. My country is reasonably secular so my exit was really mild compared to what the ladies above experienced. Also the young people are turning to atheism quite fast and in a large number so I find support quite easily.

@@angelal7068 Exactly, I'm a former Catholic and consider it more cultural, am not raising my kids in the church despite having baptized them, while my dad attends Catholic mass weekly. These religions are just nowhere near as all encompassing as Islam or Mormonism. No one cares if we only go to a church on holidays. There have been Catholics on the channel, but they were either in a more extreme sect or were abused by the clergy.

In your previous video, you had mentioned looking to the original Arabic Koran. This inspired me on my own journey. I come from a Christian background and I have religious trauma related to the verse "children obey your parents in the lord. Honor your father and mother." I went back to the original Greek and found that the word for children is adolescent and younger, not as in English we can have adult children. Also, the word for honor is to assign a value to someone or something, not necessarily a positive value. This breaks the idea that adults should continue to be subservient to thier parents forever.

Both of you are amazing! Thank you for sharing with the world your experiences in these terribly controling cults. It is so important for other women and girls that there is more than an abuse place where they might be caught. I am sure you give many people hope.
And you give me hope as well. I am not in a very good place these days. As an European Christian, I developed a sort of paranoya when I see how things evolve after the continuos flood of imigrants from the Arabian countries. It is also woring because the islamists use the Western freedoms to push their ideologies and impose their ways. I also feel bad as I start being rejective and suspicious and close myself in a self-defence mode like in a shell. If a couple of years ago I would not even notice differences at people in the streets, now I feel a sort of hardening of my mind when I see signs of a non-European person. And by nature I am very friendly, curious to interract and share with people of various origins, from places I have never been and most likely I will not be able to visit. And at first they seemed to be run away from a horendous war, later their declared intent changed, and from refugees they became invadors. When one hears the islamists braging how they came to force us to change to the right faith, to force the Sharia, threatening to outnumber us,... the continuous bullying, ... then the statistics, ... then the grooming gangs, ... the aggressivness of the woke movement... Now the Labor party won the elections... I expect that Muslims in general will be radicalized and declare open war to the rest of the people. It seems as if we were sliding faster and faster down a slope towards the barbaric age when freedom will be abolished at all levels, everything that makes the life in a civilized country will be denounced as haram, women will be deprived of basic rights, treated like servants and men's property. And I cannot look further into the mutilation that would result in such conditions.
On the other hand, I am thinking that it may be possible that girls and women, but also young people in general, have not been completely brainwashed as they go to schools with others, refine their views, start understanding what normality is, still have laws and worganizations that can protect them against abuse.
Nuriya, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Rahaf Mohammed, Mona Walter and so many other ladies all over the world that prove so high intelligence to escape the brainwahsing and courage to voice their views.

A friend of my sister's married a Turkish man and had at least one child with him. At some point she moved there with him; I'm not sure whether she was able to bring her children with her when she escaped.
I really need to contact her and compare experiences. My ex-husband lives in UAE withhis 4th wife, his two daughters by his second wife live in Jordan with his sister, and I'm relieved that i never had children with him. My story would have been much different if I had!

    • @aslikirhalli1237
      @aslikirhalli1237 28 дней назад

why do you insist on using the phrase "escaped from Turkey" because anyone with a passport is free to leave Turkey regardless of whether they are divorced or not, if your friend is not divorced, of course they have the right to take their child with them, but if there is a divorce, I think the other parent needs to have permission, but I don't know the exact situation legally, what you don't know is that Turkey is not an Islamic country, it is one of the first countries in the world where gender equality is enshrined in our laws and women were given the right to vote and be elected (1934); Turkey is a secular country and is not governed by sharia law; thank God, Turkey is not an Arab or Latin American country🙏🏻

Kudos to this woman for her intelligent, honest portrayal of her dangerous journey through a Muslim ‘marriage’, and her triumphant escape. Bravo for the work she is doing to educate, inform and support those who need to have clarity around the archaic, abusive practices within Islam. I thank God she wasn’t, (like so many within Islam) subjected to FGM. I hope the works she’s doing includes educating about, and preventing, the barbaric, misogynistic practice of FGM.

(commented in last interview) A friend in the Pentagon has the history of Islam recorded as it began as a military front to conquer other lands / countries. It was turned into a religion when they saw they could tell the ignorant and children their cause was from a god. They gained men with lusts, fears, supremacy, and afterlife promises. And women by honor in duty. The Quran has borrowed biblical scriptures to try to show its legitimacy but because it must be a different Creator changes were needed to keep people in it with no real free will without death. It was how they created a 2 billion person army for global hopeful conquering and they get used as attack dogs too by the globalists for agendas. There are different kinds too because of control and interpretation issues. It's very sad. I'm glad she's safe now.

Okay here’s my question. Since 9/11 I’ve tried so hard to change peoples minds in the US about Islam. Over the years I’ve worked with so many patients from the Middle East. Started with asylum seekers from Iran and Iraq then with Saudi diplomats and patients from Dubai and UAE. Because of my experiences and relationships I’ve formed I’ve defended their religion as nauseum. I’ve learned a little Arabic and have even been invited into the homes for tea.
If anyone would tell me that women are oppressed I’d tell them what the patients would tell me (both women and men)….they are not. That women are second to god and the most holy and to be cared for with respect.
Listening to these interviews on Islam makes me so sad not only because I’ve spent 20 years defending the religion but also because I feel that I’ve been lied to. I’m not sure how to come to terms with this or if I should even consider changing my stance on Islam. It makes me so sad.

Please do not listen to those that are spreading propaganda and do not take their words as the gospel. Don't allow them to tarnish your own experience with Muslims. Actions speak louder than words. Nuriya isn't an Islamic scholar and she gets so many things wrong that she spewing as factual. She gets her information from Islamophobic websites by doing a Google search! Prophet Mohammad DID NOT consummate his marriage with Aisha when she was 9 years old. Aisha was much older when Prophet Mohammad married her. She had already been engaged to another man prior. How old do you think the Virgin Mary was when she gave birth to Jesus? It's estimated that she was 12/13 years of age since back in those times after girls and boys entered puberty, they were of marriageable age and considered to be "adults". Islam was the first religion to give women their God given rights. Islam is perfect, Muslims are not. Are there some Muslims that do not follow Islam the proper way? Certainly but there are more Muslims that do follow Islam properly. Some Islamic countries' culture gets twisted with Islam. There's a huge difference between Islam and culture. Nuriya's ethnic background is Pakistani. Not once does she mention the laws and rules of Pakistan. They distort Islam more than some Arab and/or Persian countries. So again, I implore of you not to listen to this rubbish.

I don't think you've necessarily been lied to because religion is very subjective and while some people have good interpretations of it, a great majority use it to harm others. I don't suppose something can be inherently bad or good as it's up to the people that practice it.

That you Shalise and Nuriyah for your wise and courageous work shining your light in all the dark spaces! Something that comes to me as I watch Nuriyah's segments and others on this channel is that no one seems to talk much about the Old Testament of the Bible, the horrific things it contains , and where that can lead. I did hear Nuriyah mention that a Muslim man can marry someone from the "people of the book" and that points out what seems pretty obvious to me, but , again, I don't hear much talk about it. The rules for women in the Old Testament are nearly the same as Nuriyah reports of Shariya. The Old Testament lists women as property, gives the death penalty for unwitnessed rape, promotes child marriage, polygamy, beating, all much the same, it's all in there. The rules for war are also very similar. Wipe out all the males, and assault and kill the married women, assault and /or marry the girls and take slaves of those who remain ....The more "conservative" the sect of any of these "Abrahamic" religions the more closely they will adhere to these harmful patriarchal values. In countries with Sharia we can see these things play out very overtly, whereas in the other regions and religions we see it become more hidden and cult-like in the home or the church/mosque/temple group to different degrees. Dress codes, modesty rules, obedience to father, brother, husband.....all so similar and all so traumatically abusive. I remember feeling quite shocked, traumatized and angry when I first went through the Old Testament and saw these barbaric rules for war and women, death penalties, cutting off off limbs, stoning, etc. and realized that there are folks that want the whole society to move in back in that direction and are actively working toward it. It makes it all the more important that people come forward with their stories as they do on this channel. Thank you both.
