  • This is the 2023 BMW X1. It's fully redesigned this year for a third generation and it goes up against some pretty big heavy hitters like the Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q3 and Lexus NX, just to name a few. This is BMW's subcompact SUV, which means it's a good way to get into the entry level version of the brand. But what sets it apart from that tough field of competition? Let's find out.

    I"m sick of the snotty comment "a good way to get into the brand" like you're a little person that can only afford this but at least your a member of the group. Believe it or not, some buy this price point and size because this is all they want, not what they can afford!

    It’s always great to show the audience photos in the corners of the video what the non M Sport models would look like so people can see the difference and know exactly how they’ll want their model spec’d out. Per usual, great review & I love this channel.

      small because it s the X1 and not the X3 X5 etc ... but in reality it is extreamily roomy inside ! it s like the 1st generation X3 ... even the 2nd generetion of X1 was great in space inside, this one is even better ! Really I cannot see any reason someone to go for an X3 ...

    just say "Hello, BMW, activate sport mode" immediately after you start the engine. I've been doing that since I took delivery 3 weeks ago. Love it! (or say "I'm hot" or "I'm cold" and have the car automatically adjust the temperature up or down for me) :) 😍

      Good tip!

    • @S_Paoli
      @S_Paoli Год назад +5

      @@RyanZumMallen alternatively, Sport mode can be added as a swipe down shortcut on the infotainment screen. For those new X1 owners who just want a quick way to disable engine auto start/stop, the best way is also to created an on-screen shortcut. The new X1(and presumably most BMWs with iDrive8) has a somewhat steep learning curve, but once you get used to it, everything does run rather smoothly. :)

      10.25" panel in front, not a 12.3" in back of steering wheel as you complained of wasted space.

    NX only comes in the hybrid trim and it starts at a little over 44k. This is honestly one of the few luxury cars that gives you so much bang for your buck.

    The back seating is OK if the car is parked, but once in motion the seats do not keep you from bouncing around. The front seats restrain side-to-side movement, especially if the sport seats are chosen, but I’d say the back passengers aren’t going to be happy on a long trip.

    Does the 2024 version’s entry level trim also have optional M sport package? Or do you need to go up to the M35i to get M styling? Would love an updated review!

    Color choices are phenomenal. Interior is mini-iX. Mpg in real life smokes the competition, as per BMW usual. It’s odd that reviewers forget the huge storage under the rear cargo area. It’s the same area as the tea cargo area and like 6” deep.
    Decent review otherwise. Audi feel ancient. Benzes look expensive but feel cheap. The Lexus is just a goofy, gutless, anime video game…$$ RAV 4.

    Unfortunately FWD biased, console is really cheap feeling.
    The seats in my MB are the best I’ve ever sat in- incredible.
    I’m looking to replace a MB GLC 43, possibly waiting for the X1 M but leaning more to keeping the MB.

    The BMW X1 is very comparable the a Venza limited. If you option the X1 up to be equivalent to the Toyota, with power seats, lumbar adjustment, heated seats and steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, lane centering, folding side mirrors, etc the X1 runs about $5K more than the Venza at $47K. But the BMW uses premium gas, is not a hybrid, has poorer reliability, and costs more to maintain. Bottom line: glitzier, a bit faster, and a bit quieter. More annoying touch screen system and a stop/start annoyance when you are at a red light. You need to be immune to spending an extra $5K to opt for the X1.

    • @jayem8981
      @jayem8981 Год назад +3

      A Venza is ok, if you’re boring. If all you care about is numbers on paper then so be it, but I bet the Venza doesn’t drive as nicely as the BMW. Honestly, you are going to end up paying close to $60,000 with taxes etc. to buy an X1 and you are going to go with a TOYOTA Venza to save a couple bucks instead?

    • @IAMsangoku

      I have the x1 and it’s terrible when it comes to maintenance. Spent thousands and thousands of dollars for it to work in great condition. Every year there is a problem, and I go to service at least twice a year. Currently, my x1’s A/C evaporator is broken and I have to spend again $2999.00 for it to be fixed. And After that, I need a new fan belt, injector flush, brakes, etc….. I just traded it with a mercedes benz GLA…. Never again with a BMW!

    Just bought the new 2023 X1 m sport and although it looks nice, this is the worst vehicle I’ve ever driven. 2 months in and trying to return it. You can’t turn off the autostart!! Ride is horrible feels like the car is falling apart when you hit a bump. Engine rattling sound. This is not a luxury car. Shame on BMW

      The X-Line has less harsh suspension and an extra 15mm of height; makes quite a difference to the ride quality. We’ve got an X-Line 23i (Euro spec) and it’s been brilliant so far.

      i’m looking for an early buyout of my 2023 mini countryman and looking at 227ivgrabd coup or 330i or x2. hopefully able to pay the same as I pay now and which is 493 a month. my wife wants me in something safer. I found one x1 fully loaded but if you say it drives bad I will look at other options maybe.
