    I have a 883 and a 1200 both mostly stock. Stage 1 on the 883 and when I go from riding the 883 to the 1200 it has a substantial amount more power over the 883. I’m planning to do the hammer 1275 kit soon on the 883. I feel that the 1200 has all the power I want so I’m sure I’ll be happy with the 883 conversion. I’m looking for max torque on the 883 is why I’m going 1275cc.,keeping 883 heads and baffled mufflers. I done the inch and quarter hole saw on an extension mod to stock mufflers and I love the result.it’s slightly louder than stock at idle but really comes alive and gets loud when your deep in the throttle. My V & H slip ons are pretty loud everywhere. Hard to talk near the bike at idle. Can’t wait to do the conversion!

    I’d like to put the kit in an 2003 Sportster. I don’t see going max power. Having 80 to 90 HP would seem like a huge change compared to 45ish on the 883 hugger as is. If I need more I’ll hop on my Softail.

    Great thing about sportys is that it doesn’t take a lot to make them powerful due to the light weight of the bike itself. Miss my old one. #support

    I think doing the basic 1250 kit upgrade on the 883 sounds like a very cost effective and logical way to increase the overall performance and power of your bike. I think going any farther than that.... I will just get a different bike?
    I can’t imagine getting rid of my sportster though! It just makes sense for me. It doesn’t work for everyone, but for what I want and do with my bike it is perfect. Love my 883!

    I put the 1250 kit on my trike and love it! Ive put about 3500 miles on it so far. I acquired some thunderstorm heads that I am contemplating put them on but I have to change my pistons from the flat top to the reverse dome. I think I'm gonna put more miles on it first.

      Master Of none tv I really enjoy the 1250 kit on its own! If I were to ever upgrade, it would be the biggest kit I can get. I highly doubt I would ever want anything larger though! Thank you for your comment!

    I've been thinking about doing the Hammer 1250 upgrade to my 883 for two years, but have not done it yet. Watching your videos is inspiring me to go ahead and do it. The only thing is, my Sportster is 19 years old and has 58,000 miles on it, so I'm a bit concerned about the bottom end of the engine with that much mileage. Not sure if it can take the extra power without having the lower end rebuilt first; however, I have heard the evo sportster engines have very robust bottom ends, so it might be ok. I will definitely need a new clutch at the very least.

    • @WetBananaMike
      @WetBananaMike  5 лет назад

      Trevor Jameson I would think the bottom end should be ok. The great thing about your Sporty is the carburetor aspect. A lot less investment than a fuel injection bike. If you decide on the kit, you will be very pleased with the boost in performance! Thank you for the comment!

    It's additional AT LEAST 50% increase in horsepower for less than 10% of the original MSRP for the Sportster 883. It's almost stupid to NOT upgrade!

  • @dr3po

    I'm curious as to your weight. I'm rather happy with the performance of my 883, but I'm 5'6" and weigh 165 lbs. I've considered the 1250 upgrade and have often wondered just how great of a difference it would make. I can't imagine me needing to add anything larger than a 1250 kit. I've bobbed mine out and it's a paid off. So even when I get a Road Glide, I have full intentions of keeping my 883.

    • @WetBananaMike
      @WetBananaMike  5 лет назад +1

      dr3po I’m 5’10” and weigh 175lbs. I was completely happy with my 883, I just wanted to see what all the hype of a 1250 or 1275 was about. I could have easily kept my bike stock and been happy, BUT I’m very happy I went the route I did. WORTH EVERY PENNY SPENT. Thank you for your comment!

      @samuelanderson9416 2 года назад

      There’s a big difference. I’m a similar height and weight and went from a 883 to 1200. Very noticeable overtaking and pulling out on the highways. Also going uphill in the canyons. Just bopping around town, maybe not as much

    How much did it cost you to do the basic 1250 conversion ? I’m trying to figure out some numbers. 2007 883 here

    • @WetBananaMike
      @WetBananaMike  4 года назад

      Basically if you buy the parts new, you’re looking around $1600 or so. That would do the clutch, Powervision, 1250 kit, air cleaner, and exhaust. I built my bike over a year, and shopped on eBay for deals. I had about 1200 in parts when all was said and done.

    I know this video is really old now, but I gotta ask how you mounted the powervision in place of the speedometer. I really like the setup

    • @WetBananaMike
      @WetBananaMike  Месяц назад

      I made a bracket that attached to the top triple clamp. The back of the Powervision has 4 holes that use a RAM mount pattern. I can see if I have any photos on my cloud drive. If you have IG send me a message and I can share them if I find any.

    Question. Why were you recommended 1250 over 1275 kit?

    • @WetBananaMike
      @WetBananaMike  5 лет назад +2

      Nanga Parbat due to me being happy with my 883 before the upgrade, I was able to double the power for the least amount of money. If I ever want to have head work for more power, I will have to buy new pistons for the valves. In order to only have to buy once, I would have spent waaay more than I did. Thanks for watchin’!!!!

    • @frederickking1660
      @frederickking1660 3 месяца назад

      Thicker cylinder liners. There is more material and won't distort as much. I would have hammer install the pistons in the bores also. They charge a nominal fee but it's well worth it. You won't believe how strong it will run. You aren't giving up that much power to the 1275 either. Your sporty will eat big v twins for breakfast if your into that sort of thing.

    In fact, I'm more worried about security issues when traveling interstate than I am about everything about motorcycles. I often imagine having to carry a .45 for long distance travel.

    What is that digital dash you are using??

    • @WetBananaMike
      @WetBananaMike  5 лет назад

      Road Rash HD it’s a Dynojet Power Vision. If the want/need arises, I can eliminate my speedo by running it that way. I fabricated a permanent mount from steel and bolted it to the triple tree. Thank you for the sub and the question!

      D Brock with the forum discount, it ran me close to $745 shipped. Thank you for your question!

  • @theinfinitryda

    How important is the break in period?

    • @WetBananaMike
      @WetBananaMike  4 года назад +3

      The Infinit Ryda you will get mixed opinions on that exact question... in my opinion, I purchased the kit from Hammer, so I followed their instructions. You do want the rings to fully seat, so I like to think that the break in should be done properly. Also, after spending almost $800 bones for the kit, I sure as hell didn’t want to cause issues prematurely. Excellent Question and thank you for your comment!

    • @frederickking1660
      @frederickking1660 3 месяца назад

      Very important. Hammer will give you instructions. You start with letting it run for very short time then letting it cool completely. There are coatings on the pistons that have to cure. Each run is a little longer working up to first 500 miles . They will tell you to keep rpms below 2500 then 3500. Sportster s lack tachometers but you can figure it out.

    EFI bike do I need this 02 censsors once a Mapp has been downloaded

    • @WetBananaMike
      @WetBananaMike  4 года назад

      I’m unsure about that. I left my O2 sensors installed so the ECM could adjust to various conditions during day to day riding. I remember seeing a setting somewhere in the PV for “No O2 sensors” but I never selected it. Give Dynojet or Hammer Performance a shout and see if they happen to know the answer. I know that some have deleted their O2 sensors, but other parts would be needed.. Thank you for your question!

    Not one pull on the throttle. Zero point for you to have done this mod in this viewers humble opinion. Seriously, what was that all about then. 400hp. Just wind the throttle and any 883 rider will see for themselves. You, Sir, have failed in the motovlogging category.
