I've had a Joyo Ultimate Drive for a few years now - it is definitely very "murky" and "dark" sounding, even with the HP switch engaged and the Tone at full. The OCD is much brighter sounding, and will probably cut thru a mix much better.
I would recommend to degerm it (remove the germanium transistor)
The caline Leon drive was really good.. alot better than the azur Leon drive.. I used it for a long time b4 I finally just bought a real ocd

I’ve had a Joyo Ultimate Drive for several years…probably one of the most flexible OD/Distortions I own for the $25 I paid for it back then.✌🏻
Memebers of the gear page forum will crucify you for buying a pedal that sounds exactly like theres when they paid $500 dollars for theres that sound exactly the same
You can do even better on the Joyo stuff, because they OEM a lot of it. I have several Kmise/Saphue pedals that are Joyo circuit boards, in really basic housings, for ~$20. Most share names, but one in particular does not. The Joyo Crunch, is a MI Crunchbox clone, but the Saphue/Kmise Crunch, is a Joyo Pocket Metal; which best I can tell is a somewhat original circuit.
Finally, someone discussing the issues that REALLY matter.

I love your descriptions of the differences in the sounds of each pedal ( in every show, not just here), but sometimes it is hard to define the subtleties. Have you ever tried putting the signal through a graphic tone analyser, ‘70’s hifi sets loved them, then you could immediately see differences in the levels of different frequencies? Or maybe that is just for tech nerd and a bad idea......
All this piss talk is why we subscribed in the first place...am I right fellow subscribers?

Aww, no Mooer? I have the Mooer Hustle Drive, and I love it!
The reversed diode showed up around 2010 (was correct in 2009 and earlier) for the Joyo and to my knowledge never got fixed. The mistake leads to asymmetrical clipping and an understandably different sound. There's also something off spec about the tone control components that makes it awfully muddy with the tone knob anywhere below noon. The original purports to run safely run up to 18v for extra headroom and clarity, and I've seen modders say the Joyo is close enough to do the same.
my joyo handles 18v fine. I like the asym cliipping. It's a bit more dynamic. My Joyo has the HP/LP labeling backward. Easy to tell if you keep the drive low.
It'll still have assymetrical clipping if that diode is there regardless of the orientation. Reversing it just makes it more drastic.
I really want someone to make an OCD clone and call it the STP (stand to pee)
Give it a switch somewhere and it can be the sit/stand toggle.
For me, this pedal is an example of how subjective guitar tone can be. I've never been able to get good results from it. Yet with somebody else's rig it sounds amazing. For me the Klon-types work better.

Really a Plexi in a box pedal, I have had the Glove on order at Sweetwater for months, still waiting for it, but love the sound of it, even compared to more expensive boutique options.

Maybe that's how Josh pees and that's how Morning Glory got its logo. And maybe that's why he is so chill and happy.
First five minutes of this video are brilliant.
Pretty sure Joyo makes 3 out of the 4 pedals here, which explains why you have 4 clones that don't sound like the original. The circuits are all pretty close, but those 3 have the same divergences that take them away from the OCD.
I too find enjoyment of peeing sitting down.
Escape the chaos of being married with 5 children, and running a business, and all the stresses of life, while taking a break to pee sitting down.
I may try the peeing laying down. I hope to have the guts to pull this off someday. Goals

i think all those ultimate drive are the same factory lol, i had that saphue ultimate drive. and suprisingly, saphue and joyo had a same name such as "us dream" and "ultimate drive"
Fuller my be a piece of work, but my OCD will never leave my board.
I have the Saphue Ultimate Drive (Same packaging as Kmise) on my home use afford-a-board and it does well for my self entertainment.

When stacking pedals, PLEASE REORDER THEM BEST TO WORST! That way you start with the best tone and make it progressively worse. Putting the Azor that early in the chain is like throwing a rusty meat cleaver in the middle of a set of operating tools.
Takes six minutes just to get past the bullsh*t. IMPORTANT PRINCIPLE: just because you can, doesn't mean you should. The attempts at comedy fell flat. VERY FLAT. It's not Fuller's comments here, but those about BLM that rankled many. I wish this guy had just left it alone.
For so many comments it only has 29 likes. I couldn’t endure it. This guy puts out some decent stuff but this wasn’t what I expected.

I have the OCD v2 and the Kmise UD (52 Tele, Strat w/p90 and Bugera V22), i have both on my board currently. The ocd is set D@12 and T@1-2 for a med gain overdrive. The Kmise is set G@1-2 and T@1-2 for a high gain distortion. The OCD is of course great but for me once the drive is too high, its too bassy and also dark, so its great for fattening up and getting a low gain tone. The Kmise however has way more drive on tap (almost fuzz) and the tone is in the right place for clarity. The HP/LP switch is upside down on it and SEEMS to run fine on 18v also but (unlike the ocd being much nicer @18v) i cant hear much difference @9v if there is any. Great pedal actually! Hope that helps some :)

Hey I know this isn't exactly on topic, but Ryan have you ever thought of doing an abuse test on pedals? What made me think of it is I very recently upended almost an entire can of beer off the edge of my coffee table which somehow perfectly landed upside down on top of my electro-harmonics hot wax pedal, and balanced there leaned against my table leg, and wasn't noticed until the next day when I picked up the pedal beer literally poured out the input jack, put it in a big bag of rice for 24 hours plug it in was working but making weird noises put it back in the rice for another 24 hours or so, that's with the back off and rice stuffed all into the thing, and finally when I shook all the rice out which took a minute had to knock it around a little bit to get the wet swollen up stuff out, now the pedal works great no problems whatsoever except for the green light on the crayon side doesn't turn on but the side still works, the whole pedal works just fine other than the one indicator light not working. Makes me wonder if other brands could take the same abuse and I'd love to see something like that if you ever felt like doing it.
The tone capacitor on the Harley Benton Ultimate Drive is double the OCD value, so that might be the cause of the lack of treble on most the cheap OCD clones.

Peeing sitting down is cleaner. As a military vet who has had to clean up after other people's piss splatter crust... I always piss sitting down in my own home.

i took that one from Kmise put the drive just a bit like 10% 15% and levels and volume upto 90 gets nice tube sound i was impressed for that price nothing beats thats

Just bought an OCD v1.4 (the best version) on Reverb for $140. Just buy the OCD! Don't waste time and money on "just as good as". Spoiler Alert: Nothing in life is "just as good as".

My Joyo Ultimate Drive does not sound like yours. I could never use my UD with that level of volume. My UD at 9am is blasting. I agree that maybe there is more bark in the OCD, but it is hard to compare from your video because the OCD seems to be 6db louder than the Joyo Ultimate Drive, so... I don't know if your comparison reveals much of anything.
And in general, the OCD definitely sounds more like a distortion than an overdrive. A pleasant distortion, but not like an overdrive that is just edging into breakup, oh no, that is not the OCD!

I hope Mike Fuller watched this 🤣. I don’t know the man. I have heard second and third hand that he’s not a very nice man. But hell, I like his pedals. The OCD is awesome and the Deja Vibe is a mainstay on my board.

I like pissing sitting down as well. It is also cleaner, you don't have urine splashing around. I also brush my teeth a lot of times while doing so. Time is valuable, best to double up when possible. Although I piss in the woods generally at least once a day as well.

This is a little pedantic, but doing all four in series probably adds more uncertainty than finding a way to do them in parallel.
Dude, i was wanting to hear the comparison of the joyo and the fulltone after you hooked the joyo up to the 18v apapter. you broke my heart. broke into a million pieces. i havent felt pain like this since my dog ran away with my girl. We all know if you hook up more pwoer we are taking our own risks. thats on who ever does it. for experiments sake (and maybe forcingother omapnies to push lines) i think it has to be done. But i've been running my pedals on 12 volts for years now with no problems. most things have regulators in them these days but thats beside the point. put out the warning and do the experiment. I was like, "Finally!!!" i ran my pedals on 12 volts out of necessity. I have the right adapters now, but still sometimes use the 12. One pedal i wanted to run by you that you may not even know about. Rowin makes it and Donner and another company make the same exact pedal under their OEM. Called the "tube drive". i bought a donner tube drive because i found one on ebay once for 18 dollars and free shipping. I had 19 dollars and pulled the trigger. Absolutely loved the pedal. though donner doesnt make them anymore, i think Rowin still does. You can find the donner still on ebay between 35 and 300 dollars. You gotta love the crazy price guys. Like those dudes who sell the behringer pedals on ebay for boss prices. you wont find a cheap behringer on ebay. I do have thins feeling that behringer pedals wont be around much longer. Most have been discontinued and sweetwater has like 8 kinds now. I bought the last Vtone GDI 21 ever. coincidentally for 18 dollars and free shipping. Ive been pretty lucky like that. Anyway, they advertise the tube drive as a tube screamer which is also a chorus effect. These tech guys have traced the circuit and say it is a copy of an OCD pedal. I love it because it does tube amp type breakup in clean settings and hos a growl if you turn up the gain. I wish I had just bought two of them instead of getting a timmy clone. But this may be a question you might be able to put to rest in the future. Since you have the pedals. Three companies make the exact same pedal, just different branding. You can probably find one for 20 bucks if you look. Either way, you should love the pedal. It has good reviews on amazon and ebay, but no videos out there at all about what kind of pedal it is or comparing it to others. If you jump on this, you can be the first. I sent a good wor to musiclily about you the other day. They responded. I told them you sold me on their fuzz pedal and i hate fuzz pedals. You sold me though.

I’ve been using a OCD since I’ve been into tweed amps. The little added upper mids works great with a little lower gain to boost my tweed Bassman clone into a Marshall sound.
