  • I replaced my 2 blade stock prop on my GatorTail GTR 37XD that powers my SeaArk MudRunner 180. I was looking for more top-end and we did get a few mile-per-hour gain from it!

    Trim your motor to your prop is 1/2 way out water

    I have a 170 37HP stock 3 blade 29-34 4300 rpm trimmed right with stock 2 blade 28-30 4800 trimmed correctly. Loaded/Empty. Make it easier every couple trims take proper of and I use a cordless Rigid impact gun don’t even need to hold prop nut comes off. It’s all about weight distribution and finding the sweet spot. I don’t think that prop will make a huge difference as it is designed for mods and more blade on water will be less rpm’s.check you tach if your not above 4100 rpm’s at least your not getting the performance you need

      I think that was the stock prop. That sucker was seized! We got it though. I wish I had an impact gun to try!! I ended up getting a top end boost out of it. It's not fast but does the job I need/needed. I sold it though and moved to Florida!

    Something isnt right there. My ancient 35 cdi marine and way too big xpress 18/52 (maybe 54 I dont recall at the moment) runs 25 with me and a buddy on a stock gtr 3 blade that hasn't been worked and is eaten up from hard bottom mud last duck season and mine is slow. That motor should be running at least that on the stock two blade or more given the 37 efi is actually a much higher hp as mine is truly 31 ish hp at the prop.
    ETA: does the skeg on the lower unit need to be bent some? I'd get that looked at and try to get Baggy Prop to pitch that new prop and that pitch work alone will give a couple mph difference.

    Hey, I’m just curious where do you have your prop? It should be cutting half the water surface or at least a quarter of the prop should be out of the water you’ll probably get a better TopSpeed that way.

    • @ItAintEz
      @ItAintEz  10 месяцев назад +2

      That's a great question and information. I have never actually paid attention to where the prop is sitting in the water. I just trim the motor up and down in small increments until I get the highest speed out of it. This makes me wonder if the motor needs to be mounted higher or lower to have an even plane with the prop. Next time I take it out, I'm going to pay more attention to where the prop sits and the angle of it.

      @@ItAintEzis it throwing a roaster tail?

    You need to check your valves if it has 200 hours on it chances are the are way out of spec.

      That's a great idea, you're the first one to mention that one. I've sold the boat so I can't do that any longer but any guidance on how someone would go about that?

    I get the best top speed and load carrying with a hammer prop on my boss drives and mud runner, but with my other boat that is a Alumacraft and a beavertail 35 SD a big blade is my best prop

      @ItAintEz  10 месяцев назад

      Will you send me a link to that big blade prop? That sounds like the way to go.

  • @ItAintEz

    It does throw a rooster tail. Not extremely high or anything. I don't think It's hard to remember. Maybe just a couple feet.

    • @tholla92
      @tholla92 4 месяца назад

      You want it throwing about a 5 foot roost off the back. Basically put the nut half in the water half out. I have an 1860 gt extreme pushes me 31 empty and 27 loaded. What rpms is your motor running at wide open throttle?

    • @ItAintEz

      @@tholla92 I've sold the boat and I'm moving out of state. I did catch RPMs in another video but I can't remember now! I will be getting another boat when I get settled but not sure if I will go mud motor again or not.

    • @ItAintEz
      @ItAintEz  5 месяцев назад

      That sounds right, with a 37, 80 lb of battery, no anchor or trolling motor, I was getting 27 mph with the Merc Rapid prop. I ended up selling the boat as I move out of state but I will get another!

    22 mph doesn’t seem fast enough, I mean my Go-Devil 35hp SD that the haul alone was 680 pounds plus the 2 batteries trolling motor and a 6 gallon gas tank also 2 people got 28 mph and 30-31 with 1 person that’s with the stock prop.

  • @cuppedproductions4857
    @cuppedproductions4857 9 месяцев назад +1

    I run the same prop on my stock 40 at 4800 rpms and bump 34. Your motor sounds wayyyy to trimmed down. If your rooster tail ain’t 5-6ft in the air it ain’t right.

    • @ItAintEz
      @ItAintEz  9 месяцев назад

      I think I have around 200 hours on that motor, maybe more. I don't have a tachometer or any instruments to tell me how it's performing. I just grab the throttle and go. I wonder if I need a tune or if there is something I can do other than the exhaust it has. Essentially, I'm wondering if my motor has untapped potential.

    Man this is painful to watch. My buddy put a 40GTR on an 18ft beavertail and it'll fly to 26mph with 3 guys and fishing gear. Something isn't right on your boat. Even my 17' 23LT does 17-18mph. You spend big money on the SD's so you can go fast.
