I own a gatortail and have drove and rode on a prodrive. Both are great. It’s hard to compete with the full power reverse on the Prodrive. Stock setups, and the gatortail will out run the Prodrive on speed. However if I ever get a new rig, it would be the Prodrive stick steer. Plus Prodrive now has instant reverse and full power reverse. I’ve been in some shitty situations where the full power reverse would have been a life saver.

I’ve been on both a few times. And I have to say the full power reverse is the seller for me. I’ve got a buddy that just got a 20’ twin drive center console ProDrive and I’ve got to give it to ProDive. But like anything it’s all about personal preference. I’m an airboat man myself but I’ve always loved these mud boats. Can’t chase a hog across a field with either of them so they aren’t for me lol. If I was a wealthy man I would have both.

We sure do! They are basically lawn mower engine and they do really well down here!

Neither one of them are as tough as a Go Devil, boar or motor, NOT EVEN CLOSE.
Coco makes a good boat but painfully slow motors. Very good quality no doubt
Your right about lack of speed, but sheer durability that other stuff simply will not take the abuse a go devil will. Its sleek and its pretty and oh yea fast, but I'm a 100% function guy. I don't give a rip about what it looks like. @@BillyBoucher-ql3pw
can you explain why go devil is better? im looking to get a surface drive and would like to know.

Down here in Florida where we got sawgrass, if you go in that and waters low enough boat just ends up dry. No matter how low you put whatever motor, you just don’t touch water so lot of guys like prodrive to be able to back out if you end up in it. I just got a cheap long tail on a 1440 but I see others and those who don’t have that full reverse say they want it.
That reverse is awesome!
@@EverydayMan I ran airboats back in the day but lots on gas. Sits high. Tows heavier. Just not as good for duck hunting. I think the pro drives are the best of these kind of deals out there.
@@MrT13 I've never run an airboat but I've been in a lot of them. Definitely not the best for duck hunting.
It was hard to make a comparison with this video, but from what I saw, I would take a Pro-Drive over the Gator Tail unless there was a big difference in price. The reverse is a game-changer.

Don’t think gtr has a very weak reverse your looking at a brand new prodrive and an old gtr
@@emersonpiacun7410 the gtr didn't have reverse. I am familiar with them though. The pro drive has a much better reverse.
Don't know about anybody else but I go forward 99.9% of the time. I like the performance of my mudbuddy.

You know I remember back in the late 80’s early 90’s when the long tail Go-Devil came to my area my dad was selling them, and all the tree huggers were screaming about how we were destroying wetlands. We even had some people at the boat ramp protesting and one of them threw red paint on are boat saying we were killing wildlife. Well I don’t know if you ever saw the episode of King of the Hill where Hank is chasing that guy at the races kicking him in the ass but it was great my Dad was like the live action Hank that day.
The one with the full reverse is the better one I have a gator tail and when you pull up to the bank and you can't back up versus Pro-Drive you pull up to the bank and you can get yourself unstuck they didn't show that in the video if the gator tail would have tried to back up he would have stayed stuck
I’m not sure if you explained what was better?? I use a Mud Buddy and mostly love it except reverse.

Air boats don't destroy wet lands
They sure don't, but the state of Louisiana does not allow them on public lands. That severely reduces the number of people that are allowed to use them. If you are not a property owner, you can not use one. Conversely if you are on your own land you can decide what's best for it.

Corey I just was wondering I’m looking to get into the game. Which do you think is better for cost and maintenance the gator tail or go-devil or the old school mud boats?
Depends on what you want to do with it. If you need to plow through thick lillies the old school mud boat is the way to go. If running shallow water with a big boat is what you need the gator tail is the way to go.

My question is, I see it’s a hoot to use these newly developed water propulsion units, it would have helped me understand, if you had shown and explained what’s below these heads. Gator tail ain’t got shit on pro drives reverse. Lmao. Everyone is all about speed with surface drives, but pro drive can get you where a gator tail won’t and get you out of sticky situations

It's a 35 Vanguard or Kohler. One of the two. With a 1 to 1 zf transmission.
