Not much of Thamesmead from this era left but I know the Tavy Bridge and Binsey Walk parts well

This is incredible! How did you get hold of all this info?? Particularly the insides of what are clearly people’s homes!?! Fantastic work 👌🏼

He stole other peoples work and didn’t give them credit, more importantly, didn’t ask permission. This will probably be removed soon due to action being taken.

Used to play on thamesmead as a kid in the late 70s early 80s, with no idea it was filmed there. I hadn't heard of it then tbh 😂

He never gets a call from Stanley Kubrick after this... what was hurting for him.

On the tub scene there is a tub in that field basically where they filmed that scene and you didn't film it.

Amazing video, but only one mistake. The country lane where the police Land Rover drives down is not School Lane in Bricket Wood.
I have been desperately trying to locate this place.

Since I don't live in England, this was one of the few movies I relied heavily on the research of others. Although it seems like old call sheets and production notes have been readily available to researchers over the years. So I assumed the info out there was pretty accurate.
That being said, you may well be correct of your assessment. The road looks quite different today, but it was hard to definitively rule it out. The reason being that there is a very similar looking tree next to where they park the rover (even though it could just be a coincidence) and the path leading to an open meadow is pretty spot on.
I'm just curious... what led you to conclusively reject it as the filming location?

So I have done quite a bit of actual driving to many of the film locations due to previously living around the northwest area outside London where the rural scenes were filmed.
The road where the Durango 95 drives along the country lane up to Home is spot on as the lane off School Lane in Bricket Wood leading to Munden Estate. The path leading to the trough and the trough beating scene both are also off School Lane.
With the Police Landrover scene where it drives down the muddy lane, this cannot be school lane as there are 50 year old houses all the way along here with nowhere with a track at side of the road that wouldn’t have had a house opposite in 1971.
The whole area is densely wooded and the lane in the film looks less densely wooded and more resembling moorland/scrubland.
It is definitely not School Lane in Bricket Wood, though I am sure it would’ve been filmed in this area as the call sheets show the Police Landrover was often parked at end of School Lane overnight in the tunnel under the M1 motorway leading to a housing estate.
So it seems the Landrover scene was filmed close to school lane but NOT actually School Lane.

@@paulsexton8056 Okay, that definitely tracks with the info I was able to dig up. It's funny, it was the one shot I wasn't 100% confident about... especially because of the house on the far right which looked older than 1971. But you're right, it was probably somewhere close by. I assume they chose a different spot from the path and trough to make it more remote looking.
Anyway, thanks for your insight, Paul. If you have a link to any photos you took during your time in the northwest area, I'd love to see them. And let me know if you ever figure out where that land rover landed!

@@gluecement absolutely I totally agree. The land and the first section of path needed to look more remote, though the film then cuts to a different path which is the one off School Lane which we know 👍
I have scoured Google Street View around that area but I suspect the lane in the film with Landrover is a private lane like the one with Durango 95 leading to Home is.
