That’s what I was shooting for! There definitely seems to be a real divide in the hobby at a lot of the cutoffs I went with. Not necessarily hard rules, but more general boundaries some collectors will set for themselves.
I picked up a Submariner #50 (1968 series) at Denver Fan Expo. When I opened it up after buying, it happened to be a Diamond National insert variant. There was also a CBGS 9.4 #70 that I added to my set. I missed out on a low grade X-Men #6 at the same show.
Great idea for a series, Drew. I'll throw in a couple of my own suggestions -- For $10 I'd vote for Giant-Size Super-Villain Team-Up issue 1, which also features Subby and Dr. Doom and predates the 25-cent title by six months. (Two Giant-Sized issues were produced.) And for $25 you should be able to get a decent-looking copy of Marvel Collector's Item Classics issue 3, which boasts the first reprint of FF issue 4 as well as the first appearance of Dr. Strange from Strange Tales 110.
Reprint series are where it's at 👍 how else am I supposed to get a copy of Silver Surfer #4 graded above 3.0? 😆 Fantasy Masterpieces has some great SS reprints & Marvel Tales with those Spider-Man stories... Great idea!

I really like this series, as it brings back a lot of memories and I see comics I bought off the rack and as a little kid. Always loved Namor, since I first saw him in FF comic books. My first issue of his mag was actually #72, the last issue in his silver age run. I was sad when I read the letter page and found out that it was the last issue, and was thrilled to find out though that he had another run back in the Golden age. Later I bought my first ever Overstreet price guide and that is when I learned of MPFW, and realized that Namor is the 1st superhero for Marvel! My child hood collection has been gone for many, many years, but in the last 15 years I started "lightly" collecting again, and bought all of the silver age Namor 1-72 and the 90's Namor 1-62, along with 3 or 4 golden age books with #23 being my oldest about 10 years ago. Have never owned an FF #4, but would love to. Thank you again for the series, I love watching your videos. My only book I would have added as a "key" for Namor fans would have been TTA #100. When I read that years ago, I was shocked as it appears to be the first (and only?) time that Subby beat the Hulk. Keep up the good work!!!

My oldest comic related "book" is Weird Tales Vol. 26 #6, with the old Conan cover and pulp story inside (1935). Bought it years ago, so it was not that expensive. I just wanted to own something that was even pre-Superman. 😉 Looking forward to your next video!

Giant Size Super- Villain Team Up #1 is the book you should have mentioned because Super Villain Team Up #1 (regular series) is actually the 3rd part of a multi issue story line as Giant Size Super Villain Team -Up #2 is the second part.
I think the cover of the on-going is better than the giant size, but it definitely could have been an option as well. That’s the toughest part of building these lists: you’ve got one spot and numerous books that you could make an argument for filling it.
I’ll be interested to see how it goes on screen. Glad to finally see him getting into the MCU though. We’ve been getting Easter eggs since what Iron Man 2?

Right now with real life stuff, working through processing the collections I’ve bought, and working on content, I don’t see much opportunity to put out additional content without sacrificing quality. I would love to be able to pump out more videos, but weekly is the best approach for me right now. I’d rather be consistent with one video a week for you than risk overextending and going off the rails. Maybe one day I’ll be in a position to turn up the volume here on the channel!
Tales To Astonish 70 never seems to get a mention when Subby books are talked about. 1st solo silver age story, would have thought it would get more love.

I've gotten lucky enough to break into 4th tier books in the last few years, & this year got even luckier with some higher than that -- albeit in questionable condition 😆 Everyone's going to say keys for favorite characters & teams, but what about keys for favorite creators? I'd love to see lists for Jack Kirby, John Byrne, Walter Simonson, the Kubert bros, Todd McFarlane, Bill Sienkiewicz, etc. 👀 I don't know, some of those folks could have a different video of multiple keys for every publisher they worked under!

I love Iron Man and Sun-Mariner 1, but like Rodney Dangerfield, it gets no respect. Well, it’s slowly coming around a bit, but still has a lot of ground to cover.
Hi Jarred! That’s a tricky one! The Joker was regularly featured throughout the golden age, unlike most of Batman’s villains who only had a few or a couple of appearances. There is no definitive decision within the hobby, but it’s generally considered to be Worlds Finest Comics 88 and Batman 97.
