Yup. There had been nothing like it before. Tons of absolutely epic moments, interactions, and characters playing true to themselves. Easy to have stuff when you didn’t grow up with an get affected as you would in 1984.
Saying you have many issues with bronze and silver age comics then reviewing a bronze age comic is like a movie reviewer who doesn’t like horror movies reviewing the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. 😂
I was 14 in 1984 and I cant begin to tell you the anticipation i felt every month when this book was hitting the stands. I still get chills thinking about it. Its in my top 3 marvel stories..Dark Pheonix saga; Secret Wars and Infinitly Gauntlet. That to me is all any Marvel fan needs to read and never read anything else...maybe Thor's Beta Ray Bill origin story line can be added to that too.
I'll give you thumbs up for a good and interesting video as always...but I couldn't agree with you less. Half-way insulting comic book styles and readers from almost 40 years ago because they haven't experienced those intervening 40 years of evolving narration and drawing styles is just plain spoiled...
I was on the fence about getting this. I think we’ve got a similar taste in comics. I don’t enjoy reading the old stuff just because of the dialogue alone my first omnibus was Loki and I didn’t know what I was buying cause I just knew I loved the character, that’s on me though. I respect that era though it got us to where we are now but I’m not fond of it. You’re one of the best channels on here! ☺️
The new website looks so good. really eye-catching and professional. And loving the merch designs.👍 I read a fair bit of classic Marvel recently and would one day like to pick up Secret Wars. But from what I've heard I know it won't be on the same level as COIE, more like a fun popcorn read that probably won't change my life.😄

I remember exactly where I was when I bought Secret Wars 1 and it's kinda like living in the Jordan era, just had to be there to completely get it.

I have the nostalgia feels for this one. Otherwise I likely would have passed. I also picked it up for about 30$ and that seemed fine to me.
Marvel's Secret Wars was fun comics...but DC absolutely BLEW THEM OUTTA' THE WATER with Crisis On Infinite Earths!
Secret Wars 2 felt like a fever dream
I always liked the Spider-Man tie in issues with Puma and the Beyonder.
I might save that one for next year, I remember it being significantly bigger than the first Secret Wars haha! Hope you enjoyed the video!
