  • Written by Mark Millar and illustrated by Steve McNiven, the first issue in this story arc for Wolverine was published by Marvel Comics as issue 66 in June of 2008, with the Giant Sized Special being released in September of the next year. And the Heroes of the Marvel Universe have been dead for 50 years. Logan, having turned his life around following the rise of supervillains, is doing what he can to make ends meet, but the threat of the Hulk gang forces him on a journey across the country as Hawkeye’s protector. But what use is he if the Wolverine no longer exists? And what did Logan do that made him fear popping his claws ever again?

Old Man Logan is not a bad wolverine story, but it is both a brutal and tragic one. Which is why I'm putting this as one of my reading recommendations.

I loved it. Red Skull wearing caps mask felt made me think that red skull was going insane without a purpose in life

I like the idea. The imagery of fallen heroes like Thor’s hammer, Loki and Antman’s giant corpses, the Fantastic 4’s cars being vandalised and Red Skull having trophies of the Avengers. It feels like what a post-apocalyptic Marvel world should look like.
I think the major problem was the execution of the story and characters at times. For example, they could’ve easily fixed Hulk being evil by having him say “the old Hulk and Banner are gone now, these forms belong to me” implying that he’s a different hulk personality.
    What do you think?

I agree on many points, it is undoubtedly important how we conceive this and other comics after reading them after a while (I read Old Man Logan again on my vacation). I find it super enjoyable, good pace, bombastic action, with things that I didn't like like Hulk's incest and that ultra gore final fight.

Mark Millar really knows how to tell a story, good structure, pacing, etc. My problem with him is the actual stories he likes telling.

@@MaddoggComicsI very much did and was curious about this as I wanted to get into Wolverine & the X-Men but that twist with She-Hulk made me do a double take 😂🤣

For me i enjoyed Old man Logan the first time i read it, yes there are parts that were totally unnecessary but i had fun and was not bored. The Hulk family was for me the worst part. As always loved the video, get em coming!

Same here, I'd much rather be entertained than bored with the many 'philosophical' narratives that are out there at the moment. Glad we're in the same boat, and thanks for watching the video mate! 🐶

I personally hated Old Man Logan. It has everything I dislike about Mark Millar's writing and nothing more. The art is well done, but since its telling a story I'm not enjoying at all, I end up not liking it either.

I know for me, this book only worked BECAUSE of Mcniven's artwork; anybody else and it just wouldn't have worked.
With that being said, I absolutely LOVE this story no matter how ridiculous it is.
