- Written by Chip Zdarsky and primarily illustrated by Marco Checchetto, the first issue in this run of Daredevil was published by Marvel Comics in February of 2019, with 50th and final issue being released in August of 2023. And Daredevil has broken his one rule. In a daze of denial, and with a righteous new detective on the force hunting him down, Matt Murdock needs to clear his name whilst on the run… but what if he’s not innocent to begin with? And who will be there when a turf war erupts on the streets? And how will Elektra stepping back into his live affect the legacy he’s built within Hell’s Kitchen?
Between Daredevil Elektra, Bullseye, the Punisher and Fisk's rule in Devil's Reign, can Zdarsky stand out amongst the plethora of great Matt Murdock stories?

Chip Zdarsky has been one of my favorite writers as of recent thanks to this and his Spider-Man run

@@MaddoggComics Always enjoy your vids dude! In my personal opinion, I feel like it's on par. His Spider-Man kinda reminds me of on the early half of the Nick Spencer run if he'd stuck with that format.

Daredevil Mat Murdock being a priest is the best thing that happened to the charcter, it is a perfect fit.
Chip Zdarsky created a very entertaining & thrilling run. Loved the religious aspect that he leaned on throughout it as well. One of the best runs as well. I loved it so much. Can’t wait for the omnibuses. Well done in depth review bro. Loved your critiques.

This run got me into comics and manga. Seeing Elektra as daredevil, in Funko Pop form, peaked my interest. Now I have 2 full bookshelves of manga, collected editions and omnibus. Great vid!

I need to read Chip Zdarsky's DareDevil but I can't do that without starting from the beginning by reading The Man without Fear, and Born Again.
They are great stories, but you should be fine just diving in if you wanted to 🐶

My favorite daredevil run
That is one of the toughest competitions in comics haha! I think I'm still leaning Bendis, but I do have nostalgia bias for it, Zdarsky is a great pick as a favourite though! Hope you enjoyed the video! 🐶

Do I need to read any other comic before this run?
I actually thought the final arc of the book was the best part, that issue where Daredevil and Elektra fight, and the fight against the Punisher are two of my favorite comic issues ever

Chip had an awesome run, and i very much enjoyed it, but i noticed Chip (when writing for the big 2) very heavily leans on and rehashes a lot of character defining stories and their themes in a derivative interpretation
That said, his Elektra taking on DD mantle, and an incredibly compentent Spidey were highlights and great character progression pieces that i hope continue on
Yeah, I agree, it will be interesting see where people take Daredevil and Elektra following this, but I don't envy anyone who has to take on writing Matt Murdock 😂🐶

Yeah the second half of this run was a bit of a letdown. To be fair I'm typically not a huge fan of Hand storylines in Daredevil books anyways. Like you said though, this is a pretty good run but there's some seriously tough competition when it comes to writing Daredevil. Bendis (my favorite), Brubaker, and Waid did some of the best work in their careers on Daredevil.
It’s crazy how Zdarsky is such a good writer in Daredevil but right now at DC with Batman is a mess

@@MaddoggComics yes man, it's really crazy to see the downfall on his creativity, hope Zdarsky can recover but honestly his DD Run is MILES WAY BETTER than his Batman's run
In the current climate of bad writing and politics in comics -- Chip's run was refreshing, grounded, and definitely unapologetic. This and the short Daredevil and Elektra run were some of my favorite comics of 2023.
Saying that now comics have politics is ignorant and ignoring so much about older comics. Captain America #1 literally had him punching Hitler
@@theonlygamer2808 Since you can't read between the lines or you're dense to the current social climate -- I'm referring to woke politics and awful writing that panders to morons who could care less about the medium.
What I didn't like of Zdarsky's run is that it added too many random elements and it wasn't clearly following any particular direction. We had: Kingpin, Mike Murdock, The Stromwyns, the Fist, the Hand, Elektra becoming Female DD, Kingpin's son, Iron Man doing or not doing something, DD recruiting people, DD becoming a religious nut, Officer Cole, Spider-man being mad at DD, DD goes to jail (again).
A bunch of loose threads with no clear direction and ultimately boring.
The endnof the run went too much into supernatural against a new Punisher. Punisher has gone down hill with his whole new backstory Stop being groundedband now he is a priest😮 . Went for it all
DD is a tragic figure. Chip put him through hell. Cole was a good charater. Matt has to pay for his sins. Kingpin tries to vet out. Still corrupt in politics. Mat get laid a lot. Bookeeper giving it up was just another girl for him to bang. Self destrutive and just for him to be involved in the gang war. Cole figting cops was cool and dark. Bullseye was a beast. Not a big fan of Devil Reigh. Kingpin really obsessed with DD identity and trying to stay Major. Killing fake brotherHate Purple Man and Kinpin losing power and allies
