Work can give true happiness but not everyone can work together now in days..

I just got my journal made from that beautiful Mexican cow hide. The hide is very soft and the fur is very tight and very smooth one way and course against the grain. A really cool piece of art. Very well made by the craftsman, thank you Julia. And thanks Gridlessness family for the videos that are always educational and always entertaining. Tim, from Wisconsin.

I would love if Rose did a clinic on her home made cheeses, breads, her homemade recipes and staples, running the kitchen, food storage and overall how she maintains the family and homestead. Basically “how to Rose” clinic. She does so much and tries a lot of great new things that turn out amazing. You all make a great team so it’s interesting to see how you make a success of it.
The Swiss Family Robinson has migrated to Baja Mexica and supervised by Abby! Fully equiped with hot shower, oven pizza and fresh herbs. Wonderful!

That looks like an arroyo we’ve camped in! We’ve been going down every winter and raised our kids doing that! We live off grid up on The Hood Canal in Washington state. Come see us on your way home! We’ve been so inspired by you guys through the years! This year we had our 16 year old daughter and 20’year old son. We built a sweet camp, but not quite as sweet as yours!
I made a pizza oven out of native red clay soil when I was working in Alabama and it turned out great! I mixed red clay with pine needles and made a 3” thick layer Omer a mound of wet sand I sculpted. Once the clay dried, I pulled the sand out and fired it up!
When Jeff mentioned missing some key ingredients and going to get one right now - immediately thought Jeff was getting the girls a goat 🐐

I'm in for the campout in the Baja! Looks like the burgers and steaks just showed up!
Baja is famous for it's impure clay. They are constantly making pottery of it and it degenerates within a year. Tou can get a little more construction value out of it by adding straw to get a little bit of adobe value. Lodo is the word meaning mud.

What a great camp site 😱, your protein comes right to you. Check out the video from "Shawn James" when he built his pizza oven for his outdoor kitchen a few years ago at his old place. He just mounded up a bunch of damp sand on a flat surface & packed the clay onto the sand. Once the clay had dried enough to hold its shape, he just dug the sand out from under the clay through the opening he had left for the door. Then build a small fire inside to finish curing the clay. Is the arroyo in la Ventana? We’ve been going there for years!! Our families have so much in common! We live 3 months every year in Baja and the rest of the year at our off-grid homestead in Western Washington where we have camp sites and gardens. We would LOVE you to stop in on your way north and have a campfire and share off-grid-life with you!
Come to Wisconsin and visit for awhile we would love to spend time with you all. Our home is always open.
How are you able to go to a place like that and just start building? Did you buy or rent the land or just squatting?

I like how the shower is fully enclosed to prevent dogging and the washroom isn't! Lol But, i fully understand the open washroom because I 100% love pooping outside, in the open with a nice view!
I use a new small pump sprayer for spraying weed killer or insecticide for a shower. You can pump it up and you have lots of pressure to rinse off. Works great with just 2 gallons . Great videos . Cheers from Ontario.

Living the dream
Wife and I live in SE Alaska but spend all of February and into March in Baja. We have a little sailing skiff and just mozy around the peninsula camping. Would love to link up with you down there and build some more epic camps.

Cool cowhides, do you remember what that cost down there? I used to have a leather messenger bag made where the big flap was made out of horse/pony hair. I used to get compliments on it all the time.
