Awesome video. Thanks for bringing awareness to the fact that humans can live and live very well away from the gigantic power grids and waste treatment plants and gigantic city shopping districts. You guys are an inspiration. Thank you.
Most places in the United States one is severely limited to what is allowable to be called a homesite. It is frowned upon to be self-sufficient. You are most fortunate. Bless you and your family. Peace be with you and be safe
Well you want to hear about Homesteading? We have been homesteading in Chile (the REAL DEEEEEP SOUTH) for the past 10 years. We bought a raw piece of land and build almost everything with our own hands. We are off grid and grow most of our own food. (Veggies, sheep, cattle, pigs. ducks, chickens, rabbits, donkeys and geese too but they are pets). Once a month we drive to the closest city an hour away and buy things we can not grow. We are happier and more free than we were before we came here and we live cheaper because we pay NO TAXES on our land and property. It is safer here where we are in the country side. Our neighbors are more like family and we all look out for and help each other. We left the crazy world of being a slave for the government and now we live life in Chile. We have had about 90 families visit us in the past 4 years. We have a massive group of friends who are gringos and Chileans and we get together often. On any week end it is not uncommon for there to be 20 people at our house for the whole day. Many people have stayed with us, from all over the world, in our little cabana and it has been a joy to be a host to these people who often come back. Well come see us. It is a little bit of a drive but it is all down hill. Jim in Chile.
We have sold our farm now and retired to the beach but we grew all our own food, fruits, vegetables, chickens, geese, cows, pigs etc. We had solar power, and collected all our water from the rain into a huge cement tank. We had a bio cycle sewerage system that recycled the waste water into the paddocks. I wish you could have seen it. We now live on the coast in Queensland Australia. You should check out Australia for off grid farming. We have been doing here for years. 😊 Love seeing this oasis in Mexico.
I used to live in the New Mexico desert. Our yard had irrigation and we grew fruit and nut trees, had beautiful green grass and a bountiful garden. If you stepped back from our house and looked both left and right it was 100% desert, tumble weeds, cactus, sand, etc. It's is a most amazing thing to see something like that.
One of The Best Videos you guys put out!! Absolutely fascinating how a 160 year old farm vacant for 20 years could turn into such a lush off grid farm in short 5 years! Totally self sufficient 👍all waste is used on the farm!! The Sun brings in enough power Big Time! Your kids are so lucky to enjoy Your adventures👍 You have to be truly special parents to turn out girls: who have such a self efficient life style growing up🥰 Thank you for allowing us in Your Family travels Too👍 B Deacon Manitoba Canada 🇨🇦
Hated to see this one end, totally fascinating and inspiring . It opened with all the technical aspects which is Jeff's wheelhouse. He was like a kid in a candy store. Just WOW ! Thank you; Gridlessness family
Beautiful find! Our little garden of Eden is not so lush as that. The piney wood of East Texas is too temperate for papaya. Ours died this winter in our sun room because of the extremes. 80 degrees F one day then frost the next morning. It’s been a crazy year already. Freeze warning tonight and most of my mature fruit trees are in full bloom. I started a fire in the old wood cook stove out in my green house/ lower patio area, to try and save my moringa tree, rice, and seed trays full of seedlings. Just climate change I guess! LoL Bless Y’all for bringing such great content to our homes.
Delightful seeing Rose and Jeff so happy and excited visiting Rancho San Dionisio! 😇 Amazing off grid orchard and campground crafted by your wonderful hosts.
Thank You Gridlessness for sharing this Beautiful Place. 👍🏻👍🏻. Appreciate the People who have given back to our world. Stay safe. God Bless Y'all ❤🙏🏻🙏🏻
What an awesome home for them, and a wonderful place for the rest of the world to come visit. I would love for my new homestead to reflect many of the things they have here. I leave in about a month to look for my new home.
You guys are really blessed to be on this journey! You've earned it after all your years of hard work at your own homestead. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I can only imagine how vulnerable you all felt in the beginning. Travels are always filled with uncertainty and emotional learning curves. You're all very brave. Safe travels!
Happy video! This beautiful finca reminds me of where I lived in Spain, with friends there, did building, welding work, offered a small ruin, shoulda stayed, TBH
Would like to see an interview with Jessie Ventura if you are still down there. I take it he spends half years right there on the west coast beach there. Would be and interesting conversation about living in the area, and his comments on your independent adventure.
Great share. Enjoy seeing the visions of others and how they live in symbiotic relationships with their surroundings. 20 minutes seems insufficient for this video😢
10:10 Composting Toilet I have used a composting toilet for going on 14 years. I DO NOT separate liquids from solids. In fact, the amonium component of urine, actually "DRIVES" the composting reaction. I put a small kitchen trash bag inside a 5-gallon plastic bucket, snap on a tiny toilet seat and call it good. Pee and poop begin composting in the bag right off the bat. Instead of hauling poop-filled buckets and then washing and sanitizing them, I haul out 5 or 6 bags, run a razor accross their bottoms, dump them all, then cover with straw, gather the bags into one new clean bag and toss THAT BAG into the trash at the gas station in town when I buy gas from them. Never have / had any odors or bugs in 14 years and a year's worth of potty trips composts down to about 1 inch of soil after 2 years. I have 3 terminal composting piles or bins and rotate their useage in order. Easy peasy Edit: I don't use toilet paper. Rather, I built myself a bidet washer wand with hot and cold water.
I just watched a doc on how some cartels are taking over avocado farms, because it’s such a huge money maker for Mexico. I hope this guy stays small enough to stay off the radar. It’s probably not in the same region anyway.
If you are looking for a free night on your trip north we live five blocks off Highway 1 in the south part of San Quintin. We have sleeping for 18 guests and parking for your vehicle. Respond to us and we can connect if this is something which interests you. We are not commercial and do not want to be featured but are willing to invite you and your family in as you travel.
Rattlers are good eatin, also good rodent control, so its a balance. Rather have Bull snakes around the homestead, that way I don't worry about guests, kids and the dogs.
Not being gross- Two levels of “poor” have made their way into our language. Both have to do with harvesting urine for fertilizer. When someone’s sole income came from collecting &selling urine, they were said to be “P*** poor.” Those even less fortunate were said they “didn’t have a pot to “P*** in.” Most people say things they have no idea what they mean. 😂
It's good to see people living in harmony with nature instead of destroying it.
Drinking game. Every time Jeff says yea do a shot.
You would be spending a lot of time on the floor! Lol
Rehab and detox after a couple weeks.
Sorry Jeff... no Hot Dave to tease so it's all yours!
Haha. I was looking for this comment. I had to turn off the video. My son and I kept laughing.

I’ve seen this type of toilet. Totally the way to go…..no pun intended. 🙂. They even have them for campers.

Most look at us as glorified homeless people being off grid
Are you doing campus 2025? Inquiring minds want /need to knowing may?
Loooot of preparedness and forethought went into this place!! Excellent example of what can be done when one thinks "out of the box".

Nice tan for mid March 🤣. Great video!
hi guys , love from pakistan
Divine ranch I Def want to camp with My son
My take on the of gridding business is that you really should live where water doesn't freeze.
U wanna road trip to North Queensland in Australia?
Who knows. Maybe one day!?

I was also surprised at the separation of the urine but perhaps it has more immediate value as fertilizer.
😎👍👍 Awesome
Read the humanure book, it might just blow your mind.

Like you said. An oasis!
So did you make a few test pans in the river 😏
Didn’t, but wanted to…..
gold in the river?
Don't even say that in Mx.
If there's even the thought it causes a cascade.
I would have been panning it!

Be hard to leave there.
Where is this?
Solar is very intimidating.
Yh I bet it's very expensive too.
Ya,ya, ya, yup
wow

So true. Most people have no idea 😊
Lesson to learn about the urine is diluting it 20:1 before applying
Or a window to throw it out of.
I wouldn't say that was poor quality, or said in poor taste.
@@mhz9257 requirements state 10:1 ratio is full strength usage. 20:1 is half strength. They don't need more to have beautiful plants & trees.
