Great video! Don’t constantly be worried about what other people are thinking. In beautiful places like that, people don’t notice if everyone in another group is carrying a backpack! Lol! They’re looking at the views! AND nobody who RV’s is going to make fun of you for getting stuck! It happens to everyone and God bless the sweet souls that rescue us all! Glad y’all got away from there! 😊

Hopefully you’ll never need your bear spray but you might want to watch a “how to use”. I watched one from the National Park Service. You don’t spray the bear. You point toward the ground in front of the bear and spray back and forth to create a wall that the bear won’t want to go through.

      1. Falls out of Helicopter onto high glacier, but lands without damages.
      2. Slips 10k feet past crevices in glacier miraculously.
      3. Flies out over wide freezing river, but swims to far bank.
      4. Struggles and accidently head butts a bull moose.
      5. Bull falls unconscious but J struggles onward.
      6. Slips in camp on slimy moss striking the trailer which rolls downhill and rebutts the dazed male moose.
      7. Park Rangers passes out from laughter then just leaves.

Take Bonine for sea sickness, doesn't make you drowsy, cause those boats don't turn around for anyone, especially if you are taking the fishing charters that actually leave the calm of Resurrection Bay! I always keep my eyes glued to the horizon. Though much more difficult to do that if you are on the boat on a foggy day where you can't see the horizon.....

    • @OpenRoading
      @OpenRoading  4 месяца назад

Yeah - I think the foggy weather played a role. We also have the added challenge of trying to film which means looking at a screen from time to time. We learned on another adventure not to go back and preview any of our videos and photos until after we are off the boat. -J

I can also tell you if you twist a water bottle, ant bear will run away. If available use a spoon and skillet. Just the plastic water bottle does the trick, just twisting it. Most of us carry water bottles, while out in the wild.

Nice to see Trinity wanting a healthy apple. I hope your bunny is doing as well as he can. That large opening looked like it would have been fun about 30 years ago with some ropes to anchor off to climb down in it. People forget those ice shelves use to go all the way down to Illinois, so it has been melting for a while and the rocks scattered are still where they were dumped. I hope you had a nice couple weeks sitting there to catch up on stuff. Stay safe and healthy.

I have the same brand of bear spray. We live in the middle of a forest in northern MN and a couple of weeks ago had a black bear walk along our house and look into our living room window. We were only about 3 feet apart but luckily, there was a window between us... LOL.

The seasick issue can be resolved with acupressure bracelets. They work great, and are available at most drugstores or possibly Walmart. I wore them for a week on a cruise. Only caveat: you must take them off as soon as you’re on land.

Awesome video. I’ve been to Seward but not camping. Beautiful place .
One thing I’ve got to say , it’s extremely dangerous to walk on glaciers without being roped up or with very knowledgeable guides. I’ve skied them in Europe and seen huge crevasses. I’ve also fallen in one in California on Mt Shasta while roped up.
Anyway. On with your awesome trip and enjoy.

14:10 No possible way with bear spray you'd ever want to remove the safety, put a finger on the trigger, or point at another person WHILE you're sitting in a vehicle. Super concentrated stuff, in an enclosed space. The merest accidental puff would like ruin your day and the vehicle for a week. Do that testing outside when the wind is blowing. And aim it downwind just in case. Blessings.

You all get along so well and have so much in common! I think the bigger question than how you actually construct the peanut butter and jelly sandwich, is what kind of "jelly" do you use? If it's not strawberry preserves, I won't eat it! 😄

If you ever get to Newport, Oregon, on the bay front there’s a floating pier which is always partially submerged by the weight of the numerous California Sea Lions lying on it. You can stand on the dock above them and have a very close encounter.

I am surprised you made it back up that gravel grade as I fully expected the truck to spin out. Had it been an older gas two wheel drive with less power and a higher first gear, it would not have made it. I know, you will get comments all the time "should have bought a four wheel drive" LOL. Even a 4x4 with that much trailer can easily get into trouble going off pavement.

There was bits and pieces of loose stuff on top but nothing I would "dig down" into. My only true fear was losing enough traction to slide backwards. Made it though! Should never have gone down. 😂 There was a class A down there that I'm thinking maybe went down two years ago and will never return. LOL -J

Thank you for sharing. This video was so amazing to see. I think folks that get seasick or think they don't get seasick can plan well and still have it be a good experience. I say this because I have kids that deal with this, and I did not struggle with sea sickness, until I did. lol. But we always pack the essentials. 1. The ginger chews called Ginger Rescue. 2. The herbal motion sickness patches that are found on Amazon. One patch above the tummy, one behind the ear. 3. dramamine for sure but this is our last resort. 4. sea wristbands 5, a roller ball bottle with peppermint oil, ginger oil lavender, lemon and a carrier oil. I rub that around their tummies and behind their ears and sometimes they smell it, or I pack some tissues that I put the scent on. It's a hassle, but I put it in a little kit. And as long as we do all these things beforehand, and have the ginger chews and dramamine just in case, we usually don't need the later. I want to have fun with the kids and not have to avoid adventures, and it's annoying to do all this, but it saves us a lot of grief. Last time I was on a cruise, after so many times of being on the water, it got me. And I had to use the dramamine. You two had it covered, but I'm putting this out here so that folks don't think they have to skip out. There really are solutions.
