    12:46 a tube frame chassis is a space frame chassis. The current Rally1s use a tube frame chassis.

    Yeah that cost cap is insane
    These new cars are going to be rally2 cars with larger restrictor plates
    Also the idea that different drivetrains are allowed is great
    Only problem is it's impossible to build a hybrid or ev rally car for 345k euro

  • @fontheking5
    @fontheking5 День назад +9

    Cars should be based on their road going counterparts, like they were in the past, it has always been a big attraction of rallying to take the stock base vehicle and transform it into a world class rally car.
    For engines i would surely love a high revving naturally aspirated engine, with 4, 5 or 6 cylinders that would rev to 9000 rpm +, it would surely get alot of new fans excited in the sport, if they could get them to sound like the old Group 4 Rally cars, like the Mk2 BDA Escort or the Lancia Stratos 👍
    Another favorite sounding era was the 2 wheel drive, 2 liter naturally aspirated Formula 2 rally cars of the 90:s, cars like the Peugeot 306 Maxi which revved to over 10 000 rpm 😮😮😮

    personally I really like the possibility of using hybrids and electric engines! Of course they won't sound nor feel as good as petrol ones (if that's what you want that bad) but back in the day rally was the sport to experiment in, to have some fun pushing certain technologies to their limit. I like technology in general so seeing that WRC will support that type of experiments and just competitive testing of experimental technologies, It's just nice

    • @emilioe50
      @emilioe50  2 дня назад +4

      Fair. Electric is not my cup of tea personally, but i respect the fact that that option is there for the one who want to experiment with it.

      @MegaEssin 23 часа назад

      Yeah i think Evs is the only way to get more brands in rally 1. Vw said they would join wrc again if it was for EVs. So this is a way to get more manufacturers into wrc.

    • @danielkiss7003
      @danielkiss7003 17 часов назад +1

      @@MegaEssin There's no way to be competitive with an ev
      Even the hybrid cars struggled with the extra weight
      Handling is way to important in rally

    9:45 SUV in europe is vastly diferent concept that in USA, a Range Rover a bmw x5, or a Toyota Land Cruiser, IN europe and for FIA porposes those are Off-Road veihcles or 4x4, NOT SUV's
    What SUV mean in europe are small suv's and Crossovers (like showed in the picture). think cars like the renault Captur, The Hyundadi Kona, the nissan juke, the ford Puma, the VW t-cross or new opel Frontera, those are the cars with the biggest market at the moment and should be(and are) represented at the WRC

    • @emilioe50
      @emilioe50  2 дня назад

      Fair. I personally just think of Range Rover and similar cars as SUVs, whilst cars like the Puma I consider as crossovers. (And I am European)

    We do need the return of 2 things, Subaru and homologation specials, im not sure about other people but I’d love a modern interpretation of a 22B WRX, GT-Four Celica or Delta Intergrale as they’re all high performance versions of the standard road car but built with rallying in mind while also allowing the public to drive these cars

    I think theres no reason *not* to include hybrid or electric systems, if theyre way more expensive then guess what? thats money taken out from other parts of the development, if they want to develop and build new hybrids that means those who focus on building better engines can can catch up. I also think that some sort of hybrid sytem is a no-brainer as there are simple ones that are way cheaper that still give SOME benefit - a simple kers sytem comes to mind. very little capacity, just get back some energy you lose from braking. honestly the only downside to this is it means better accelleration and so mistakes matter less.
    not allowing "SUVs" is kind of a hard choice because, well, where is the line drawn for SUVs vs Crossovers? weight? physical dimensions? would you allow a modified version of the old rally fighter or newer Prodrive Hunters since theyre jacked up coupes but not allow the Mini Countryman? Id just have to see the defining traits you attribute to both before making a call on that, those grey areas are where the entire motorsport will end up gathering after all.
    I think with the current proposed rules, the manufacturers do still have the freedom to go for any engine layout they want? hopefully more manufacturers come in to the sport with that. I do like the "engines from the manufacturers current range" as a rule. I believe toyota had a GR86 coupe built to some competition rally spec using the GR yaris inline 3 and AWD system for SEMA this year, something like that would be great in the new rules and I wish we would see (though they never listed coupes as a body type, only sedans, so no Celica GR4 yet I suppose)
    Im also interested in the "prototype" body shape built from a shell because like, how prototype are we talkin here? like are we gonna have the Lancia Stratos or the Toyota 222D tearing up courses again or is it more like the Kit-Car era or..?

    Problem with full electric cars is lack of sound, which can be very dangerous when drivong on public roads. They would need to have sirens like police...but that would make them kind of lame...

    IMHO i think it should be like a Rally2+ car, like the regulations of AP4 they have what is called AP4+, a bit bigger engine, a more advanced suspension (not crazy Rally1 level) and a bit more aero while still using the original chassis of the road car with modifications for rallying. This would return the WRC into somewhat a Group A era where they are still using the chassis of the road car, this could also make the cost a bit more manageable and attract more manufacturers for example Skoda, they can build base on their Rally2 car so they dont have to develop a brand new car with space frames, very different suspension etc. Also yes no hybrid because its wayyy too costly to run them and not sure the benefits (power wise) is a lot, take Martin Sesks for example hes able to compete in a non-hybrid Rally1 car (obviously with more power, but still the point stands). Hope the FIA would be serious and careful about these new regulations, atm its sad to see one of the best motorsport in the world is drowning to death.

    Msport and ford should separate in rally1. It simply doesn't work. If Skoda did rally1 they'd dominate.
    My 5cents worth of opinions in general.

    I agree with most of what you said here, but I am not against SUVs in WRC. I mean, I don't like them and luck be it I will. never own one. But if Bentley can race in GT3 class then by all means allow the manufacturers who have a wide range of SUVs in their portfolio to race using one of those and promote them (or not, depending on results) if they so wish.

  • @HJK242

    that cost gap don't sound very realistic, rally2 cars cost almost 300k and those are produced in higher numbers, witch brings the cost down. just with inflation even those rally2 cars could cost that 345k by 2027, 500k sounds more realistic. I also don't like the power being almost same as rally2, there should be more power in top class, maybe up scaling the engine to 2.0 L instead of same 1.6 L as rally2, they run 2.0 L engines in rallycross also, so could use same in both. opening up for more variety of engines like you said would be best, many manufactures have iconic engine type they would like to use, Audi 5 cylinder and Subaru boxer engine for example.

  • @ralliasaattanaa

    The fact that Hybrid and full EV's are allowed is the biggest lure for new manufacturers. There is no manufacturers that are interested in running a rally car with V6 or V8 or any other. I really don't think so anyway. We might not see hybrid either since it's terrible, but EV's we might. Honestly that full EV Hyundai rally car isn't that bad. While the sound is fake, it's still a sound.

    Whilst I would love to see Group B come back, I understand that's not happening.
    I think there is a spve for more freedom in design though.
    Go back to the common throttle body to restrict power or ICE cars.

    Quite a nice video, I'm honestly shocked you don't have more subscribers! I agree with almost everything you said, though EVs and hybrids defiantly need to stay. Otherwise I could see Volvo/PWR leave rallying entirely. I also think the low cost cap is a good way to bring back some of the "cheaper" manufactures like Mini, Citroen, and Renault. The SUVs are a weird pick, but I could see smaller SUVs working well with WRC and larger SUVs working wonders in World RX.

    Gonna tell you now,the EV stuff aint going to be like by the real rally fans.
    Its not okay to see FIA trying to slowly introduce EV to the WRC and especially SUVs.
    Just promotes more manufacture to use a EV and SUV,and both combinations is what many people dont want to buy when looking at the WRC.
    Just ask any Rally fan what Rally car they want,instantly someone could say Lancia S4,Quattro S1 and many more.
    Ahh yes I have my EV SUV that was in the WRC said nobody.

    Exciting times coming for the rally scene. I really hope that WRC does not turn electric. But the cost cap sounds like a good start. Maybe it will help like it did with the Hypercars. WEC/IMSA are booming right now.
