1:55 = No, the safety cells are custom made, if Hyundai, Toyota, Ford, everybody has the same chassis that’s not their own. Also the argument it allows hatchbacks to compete saloons and SUVs…. Well this was possible in groupA, remember Delta vs Celica vs Legacy? Was that unfair? Boring? Impossible? No, it was actually quite natural! I heard somwhere else “why are Rally2 rules that strict that we need a spaceframe Rally2 to accommodate the Ford Puma? Compared to the Fiesta the Puma is only 60mm higher, 30 of which are ground clearance, sure this can be accommodated into Rally2!” ABSOLUTELY 4:00 or so, I totally agree, obsessed with hybrid, nobody realised WRC uses fossil free fuels since 3 years now. Maybe we don’t know because other than the hybrid, these fuels never created the tiniest problems. But why not even effing mention it in the Rally.TV program? I love the idea of different concepts. Well (beyond the silly and annoying sounds, and the weight) the very day a full BEV can do a 3000kms Safari Rally I might well be convinced! But even then fossil free fuels may still be more fossile free than any “base load capable” electrictiy. Electricity is far from being CO2 free and BEVs are far from particulate free, remember? Well, so far I sound negative, but that was commenting as watching your video…. HONESTLY; I LARGELY SEE THESE CHANGES AS 95% POSITIVE! We need to attract more manufacturers, more cars, more sport, more competition One key may be a Neuville complaint: “Rally2 cars may beat 2027 Rally1”. Yes, I see why he doesn’t like it, but if that is the case, it means there is more competition, and that is what the FIA and more even the fans wanted! It means it is easier for new teams to join, even if they are just tuners! One problem could still be the price cap. If custom space frame cars are only 50,000Euros more than a Rally2 and both are (as FIA and a lot more people want) competitive, why then go for the spaceframe? And at right that moment I am singling in my main worry: Well, is it a worry? All current Rally1 manufacturers seem to be in favour of it. But if we want more makes, what did the Rally2 makes think of making these categories more alike before? Citroen and Skoda not quite favoured it on grounds of cost. That disappointed me, I thought they liked o/a wins, but very soon I got it: They build hundrets of cars and sell them, how many Rally1 were sold? That is the entire business model why someone joins! It is the existance of national series, marketing, importers, and so on! AND HERE I THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE IT EXACTLY VICE VERSA!! Keep spaceframe (custom made at that) for Rally1 is NOT good for manufacturer marketing. And having Rally1 with Rally2 engines and transmissions means huge manufacturer cash goes into these engines and transmissions. This makes Rally2 cars a lot more expensive! I would have gone the other way round: Base Rally1 on Rally2 (road) chassis, more aero, keep the engines and transmissions as of now! Road base chassis is cheaper and better marketing and the engines don’t interfere with Rally2! But I don’t want to sound like spitting my dummy all the time. Make these categories more alike is a great thing. Just how it is done needs to be considered carefully. Rally1 is a failure, Rally2 is a success, don’t compromise Rally2, make Rally1 cheaper and if Neuville likes it or not, allow for more competition! We are not winning Lancia with a chassis that is not theirs and an engine that has no advantage over the next lower class. But we can win Lancia with a road car base they already have more or less from the Citroen C3 Rally2. Or even more brutal, you don’t get a now completely unknown Chinese make marketing themselves in having to use a European custom chassis and a rally2 engine. You get them when they can use their own chassis and their own tuning without jeopardising Rally2 as it is now!
I think most fans want the hybrid electric cars to be the focus of the new regulations. No more fun and excitement just batteries and energy recovery please 2027 WRC.

I'm happy with the new rules as well.
Considering what COULD have been, me too! Let's hope for more teams and more drivers!
Thanks for the comment :-)

Haha! Indeed who gets excited about Duracell cars! Appreciate the comment :-)
