That Purple Rain snare tho... 🔥 Let's see you do Abe Cunningham's "My Own Summer" snare sound!
🤣 I was trying to make that cover out from the thumbnail on my phone at a distance, and I thought it was a Motley Crue album 🤣🤣 Funny thing is, I know the album, so I don't know why I didn't make the connection.
Abe definitely deserves a spotlight video
Yeah please
Needs a spotlight on Abe’s whole style and setup tbh
That was one of the sounds recreated that I was looking for. Although I was thinking of Change (in the house of flies) personally.
Some other snares you could try to achieve:
311 - Amber (Chad Sexton)
Slipknot - Eyeless (Joey Jordison)
Dave Matthews Band - Ants Marching (Carter Beauford)
Lamb of God - Black Label (Chris Adler)
Tool - Sober (Danny Carey)
Deftones - My Own Summer (Abe Cunningham)
I think the tom Sawyer snare in this video is super similar to ants marching
Hey! Jon!
Abso-fucken-lutely.
Avenged Sevenfold - Waking The Fallen (James Owen Sullivan)
my go-to I've found when I really want to hear a nice nu metal snare is Endo and Number One Son
Limp Bizkit snare is killer...please do more snare video series. im addicted to this kind of tone.😅
Love it too! :D
Do you have a TuneBot? Crank the Top Head to around 395-400Hz on each tension rod and the reso between 400 and 450Hz. use rimshots... ;)
I love my snares super high and tight, too ( and I use multiple overlays like big fat snare drum if I want to drop tuning for a song ), but I like the shells deeper, 6.5 or 8 inch.
Ocdp for the most part. I do wonder what John is going to use since ocdp is 100% defunct and looks like Travis Barker is with DW now. Is he just going to continue using his ocdp stuff or will go with a different brand?
Limp bizkit used ocpd drums not what you used.
@@iwhcyouth1 I own a custom built ocdp kit I had built in 1999 when the public could have a set built for them, I'll never part with it.
yo Pascal nailed that Hot for Teacher groove, very impressive.
John Otto is such an underrated drummer. He’s 90% of what made LB’s sound groove so hard.
Whether you like Nickelback or not, Daniel Adair is a really great drummer and his sound kicks ass!
He use to be my drum teacher before he left for 3 doors down.
Much made of Nickelback being a bad band. It’s really ridiculous. All starting from some stupid social media post. The drum work is awesome as well as the snare sound.
i mean, people calling Nickelback a bad band, yet they're still successful at what they do up to this day.
Yeah you can dislike them (heck, i do), but you can't just ignore the fact they know their target audience, and they appeal to their target audience damn right. And they're actually tallented at it too (unlike other successful "artists" that have no tallent and just got into their place via spoonfeeding bullshit... looking at you, Kid Rock).
John Otto always has a killer sound for Limp Bizkit. Always. Its just the right amount of snap, with a slight ring to it.
Lars should've done the same thing, for his snare on St. Anger.
The Purple Rain snare - perfection! That was a cool display of 'analoging' the sound. Great job as always.
Thank You!
Otto never used metal snares, just so you know. Lovely video, top-notch quality.
Daniel Adair is honestly one of the coolest and most chill drummers you're likely to meet. Plus, he was working like crazy to be an excellent drummer before he got the Nickelback gig. That hard work and fantastic attitude has served him well! Fabulous recreation of his snare sound, AOD!
I read that Alex Van Halen used a 6.5 X 14 Tama Rosewood on Hot For Teacher, but you guys came as close to his sound as I've ever heard. Nice work!
Have you seen Rick Beato video on recreating that snare sound? He got it damn close too, more so in my opinion. It's definitely worth a look.
Yep TAMA Rosewood Mastercraft was the drum.
The head and gaffer tape are correct as well as the sound.
Rick Beato does a good job as recreating that legendary sound. Also, Brian Tichy uses the real deal rosewood and nails the sound.
Even did the stick click during the Hot for Teacher intro! Awesome!
Bill Bruford’s snare sound is legendary and entirely unique. His snare sound would be a great candidate for the next video!
I'd love to see them do a video on his whole drum sound tbh.
Limp bizkit snare tone is 🔥!!!
OMG! Someone NAILED AVH's snare tone! It's a dampening effect he's using! I knew damned well that sound was unnatural! Thank you so much!
Never been a Nickelback fan but man did I forget how hard Daniel's snare slaps on that album. Sounds like the biggest drum on the kit.
This is going to sound funny but a snare sound I've always really liked is the snare sound Stewart Copeland used on the Spyro the Dragon soundtrack 🤣. I know you guys would never break that down but I like it
Awesome vid, already up there with part one! Some suggestions for part 3:
- Avenged Sevenfold’s City Of Evil
- Foo Fighters’ The Colour and the Shape
- Green Day’s Dookie
- Green Day’s American Idiot
- Metallica’s …And Justice For All
- Dream Theater’s Images And Words
- Dream Theater’s Awake
- Dream Theater’s Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory
- Dream Theater's Train of Thought
- Dave Matthews Band's Under The Table and Drumm- I mean Dreaming
- Megadeth's Countdown To Extinction
- Pantera's Far Beyond Driven
There’s some I didn’t include because you’ve already done a whole video on the particular drummer’s drum sound
Edit: added MORE! 😂😂
Great suggestions - Thanks 🙏
Ooooh yeah Dream Theater !!! Awake has also several snare features like on The Mirror if I remember well, he uses 2 snares !! I love Portnoy's work
AJFA's snare is a great one
I second the suggestion for City of Evil
City of Evil is definitely iconic and distinctive
I would love to hear you guys recreate the Joy Division drum sound
Skid Row - The debut album snare! (for example 18 And Life)
Also gotta say Im always floored by anyone who can play Hot For Teacher that effortlessly
Thank You 🙏
The last snare used for Alex's sound is friggin' gorgeous.
This channel has become my favourite channel this year. I get excited for each upload because I know the result will always be quality, with attention to detail. Even Pascal including the stick click in the intro to Hot for Teacher demonstrates the amount of thought and effort that goes into your videos. I can't wait to see what you do in the new year!
Good stuff!! Thanks guys. Keep em coming.
311: Beautiful Disaster would be a good one
I am glad you guys are not afraid to include some more controversial choices, like St. Anger in the last video and now Nickelback and Limp Bizkit. Awesome work! Keep it up!
You guys nailed that purple rain snare! Acoustically! awesome!
Carter Beauford’s snare on “Ants Marching”
Great job guys!
Ohh as a huge Limp Bizkit fan i'm soo happy you did the John Otto's snare . Never gets old ! Perfect job guys !
For Part 3, I beg of you to re create the snare of the Album "City of Evil" by Avenged Sevenfold... That snare is so crispy, cracking and cutting through the mix...
yesss
I went back and listened to "The Beast and the Harlot" because of these comments. That really is a unique and almost unnatural sound!
@@Marfman Right? Is so sharp and high pitched, it cuts so well through the mix and its super like distinctive...
@@The_KlaVra Thing that stands out to me is how it pops like Lamb of God and Slipknot, but it must be muffled because it doesn't have the ring of those other two.
@@Marfman Exactly is sharp but short so it fits nice enough in the mix and doesnt ruin everything...
Great video idea, really fun to watch guys!
Nailed it on the AVH. Well done as always gang
That Sonor bronze is one of my all time favorites. Glad you guys got to spend some time with it!
Outstanding video.
Awesome video 🤘🥁
Wow! Fellas, this was great! Thank You for producing high quality content. Happy New Year!
Great job! Happy New Year and Happy Drumming!!!
Gentlemen, you really are doing AMAZING job! Both musically and video-production based. Thanks a lot!
Thanks 🙏 Vojtech!
Awesome!
You got badass videos my friend… keep up the good work!!!
AMAZING job guys! Cheers
Love that you’re making sample packs for these!
Thanks 🙏 !
Well deserved success! Informative and no nonsense.
Thanks man!
i asked for the limp bizkit snare sound and you guys actually did it! thank you sooo much😁😁😁
NAILED the Purple Rain snare sound!!! SO GOOD!
Wow, this is the best drumming content I have seen on RUclips in quite a while! Hats off!
Very cool! Looking forward to more sample packs in the shop! Also the sounds of older videos would be great! 😀
Great Job, and a very good drummer! Well Done!
this is the best series!!
nice one pascal!
Mine's the Nickelback sound. I just love the punch and the openness 😄
you nailed the purple rain tone. sounds so natural
Soooo good!!! ;)
Loved the editing. Faded purple rain in from just drums and faded it out. Simple but it flows soo good
Love the purple rain snare 🔥🔥
Klasse umgesetzt. 👍 Alles Gute für 2023
Vielen Dank Matthias!
The snare in Heart's Barracuda is incredible. One of the best I've ever heard.
I am floored by how much tone the Nickelback snare has!! Gotta experiment more because that one really threw me for a loop.
So guys, with the Prince-Snare you definitely nailed it 99.99%! Incredible work 👏🏼🎉
Nice work!🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
This has become one of my favorite drum channels. I love how in depth and helpful all of your videos are! Keep up the great work!
Thanks 🙏 so much Brian!
Really cool video guys! And you got the Purple Rain sound spot on .. without a sample snare mixed in!
I need that Vinnie Paul snare tone. That thing was monstrous
If you do a part 3 I’d love for the "City Of Evil’ snare to be included! Super high pitched with a “plastic bottle” like tone but I love it
Gute Arbeit wie immer.
Danke euch und Rutscht gut rein
LG Roland
Danke, wir geben uns Mühe! Dir ebenso einen guten Rutsch!
I have to sample these as 1 shots . You da man !
Nailed the Purple Rain Snare with no electronics needed. 🔥
Oh my goshhh LIMP BIZKIT my request 🔥🔥🔥❤❤❤
Love this channel... I already watched all of your videos.... Greetings from Bolivia... keep going....
Great year indeed
God that Limp Bizkit one just sounds so like that late 90's rock/alt metal drum sound. Well done.
The deftones white pony snare is great too
"The snare is no big deal. Two sounds, with and without my wallet" -Buddy Guy
Great video
Thank you!
Great sound
Oasis - Don't Look Back in Anger (Alan White)
Smashing Pumpkins - Quiet (Jimmy Chamberlin)
Arctic Monkeys - Teddy Picker (Matt Helders)
blink 182 - Dammit (Scott Raynor)
Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate Love Song (Eric Kretz)
Dude this video is awesome! Too funny when you put Mick Fleetwood in at 7:50 🤪🤘🔥 Keep Rockin'!
Great video ❤️
Thanks Danni!
What a content!
Being a huge Nickelback and Daniel Adair fan I agree with the snare sound but I always love how fat the whole kit sounds
Gotta bring this series back
Yeah! Sonor drums are truly top 🇩🇪
Ohhhh that artist bronze. Sheesh that's nice
That slingerland sounds amazing
The NickelBack one was actually really nice!
AWESOME job guys! Nailed all the sounds perfectly 💪🤙. I would also like to make a vote for an Abe Cunningham snare sound in a future video. Take care guys 🍻
Just stumbled across this channel and I dig it! I would totally love to see you guys make a part 3 and include Chris Adler's snare, the former drummer from Lamb Of God. Other bands like, At the Gates, Slipknot, Amon Amarth.
Would be awesome if you expanded out and did "Legendary Kick Sounds".
John Otto is the one, clicked just for him. Subscribed!
I always loved the weird ringing snare tone on "All That I've Got" by The Used
Love the LB Snare sound...would love to see a full episode on J.O's drum sound
Love Sonor
Great work all involved
Thank You 🙏
would love to see a recreation of the drum sound from Snot - Snot. easilly the most extreme version of the high tuned ringy snare sound, with some great toms to boot.
Korn - Blind. An absurd snare I was obsessed with for months after the record came out
Without a doubt, my new favorite drum channel!!! You guys should take a look on Mario Duplantier's snare sound, also on Jinjer's snare sound and on Kin-ichi Motegis's snare sound (He's from Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra). Please keep the great work!
do the "fine young cannibals" snare on "she drives me crazy". Talk about an iconic snare sound.
slint's good morning, captain snare sound is sick
You guys did a really fantastic job with this. Well done! You should make this a regular series. Some suggestions (apologies if any have been done, I haven't seen part 1)
- Nirvana/Dave Grohl's snare sound from the album _In Utero._ You could use any song but I'd recommend _Scentless Apprentice_ or _Milk It._
- Led Zeppelin _Fool In The Rain_
- Peter Gabriel _Sledgehammer_
- Stevie Wonder _Superstition_
- Tears For Fears _Head Over Heals_ (I know this was recorded using a Linn Drum but you did so well with the Prince track that I'd be very interested in how you guys would approach this sound with an acoustic drum)
- R.E.M. _It's The End OF The World As We Know It_
- Red Hot Chili Peppers _Give It Away_ (or anything off of BSSM album)
- James Brown _Get Up Offa That Thing_ or maybe _Cold Sweat_
Perhaps Tom Petty and... Learning To Fly. Many thanks for this, Sir.
Another one and very different that you can do, is from the Mexican band Mana, specifically the song "Angel de Amor" . that snare is the reason I started playing drums. Plus Alex Gonzalez (The drummer) is a Beast. Magnificent job you are doing here! you've got a new subscriber.
For some strange reason, I’ve always found it incredibly difficult to play Hot For Teacher. The rests on the triplet double bass groove, the hertas to start the song, everything is so syncopated compared to the way most of us self taught guys learn how to play.
Honestly kinda surprised pascal could play hot for teacher! Great job as always, guys!
