Wow...Thanks, guys. This doesn't sound like my cuppa. I went through a bottle of classic Stranahan's and liked it. So, I was thinking about trying their other bottlings, particularly the Blue Peak, Diamond Peak, and the Sherry Cask, and you've helped me go for the Blue Peak (at near half the cost) over the Diamond Peak and then after I've gone through that, I'll put out the bucks for the sherried stuff.
Stranahan's was the whiskey that made me fall in love with whiskey, so I'm happy to see it here. I was lucky enough to be gifted a ticket to their Cask Thief a couple years back, and would absolutely suggest it to anyone who likes Stranahan's
RUSTIC! That is exactly the way I described Stranahan single malt (batch 185). It is a flavor that I cannot put my finger on but can only describe it as "rustic" or "old-fashioned". Kind of reminds me of walking into a really good antique store. It is my favorite whiskey.
I was lucky enough to have a 2016 Snowflake which was like drinking angel's tears. I had a single pour of the 2017 Snowflake which was awesome as well. One of my favorite American Whiskeys.
I was at Australian Mister Rogers just before you nailed it. Australian, freakin, mister Rogers. Without the psychotic puppets but with the murderous animals. Totally nailed it.
I think a video on the Tribe channel like Roy of aquavitae' s how to pronounce Scotch whiskys should happen and label it "Texas Edition" and just go to town on all kinds of whiskeys to make sure no one gets short shriffed on your particular vernacular :)
Thanks for introducing me to some bad ass drinks, just finished up a pint of Murphy's Stout and am sipping on a glass of Green Spot right at this moment.
Trying to correct a Texan's pronunciation is like trying to assign and correct a kindergartner calculus homework. Why would anyone do that? Except in India or China... you just never know with those bastards...
I remember recently someone suggested you guys find the best whisky to make coffee with. I’ve come up with a way to keep the alcohol in. Cold Brew the coffee in the whiskey.
Please do a Review on the "Stranahan's Sherry Cask Single Malt" or a comparison! I like this brand though it is expensive. Stranahan $55, Diamond Peak & Sherry Cask $75 (Here in California)
kody petersen it’s so worth it. This stuff is primo AF. I used to love Macallan 12 year, but comparing to this stuff, fuck Macallan. Stranahans stomps all over Macallan.
I see that bottle of Talisker 25 sneaking around back there. The question is: does Rex see it? QUICK REX, BEFORE EVERYTHING IS MOVED! MOOCH THE TALISKER 25, MOOCH IT NOW WHILE IT'S VULNERABLE!!!
When Daniel was giving the tasting notes, talking about how it went in one direction but not quite; then in another direction kinda, all I could hear was Mr. Coach Klein. "He fakes left. No. He fakes to the right. He doesn't fake. He thinks about faking. He pretends to fake."
Stranahans also has a yearly release in December for which people wait outdoors (in December, in Colorado) for extreme amounts of time. What's the craziest thing you've done, or would do, for a limited release?
A Whiskey tribe logo Waldo shirt with Mooch Embroidered in normal name placement combined with the striped matching night dunce cap would be so fitting
I know you tasted the penderyn Myth before but try Penderyn portwood, it's soo good and much better than Myth(in my opinion) more full, deeper flavour with a deep rich after tone of intense sort dark berries at the end! I'm from Wales by the way and there are Williams EVERYWHERE!!!!
Benjamin Eaves I saw it. Just wish everyone I know who goes there would sneak me a pour. When I last went they weren’t letting us buy a taste of it yet.
🥃 Stranahan's has been on my "to do" list for a while... I pass through the area on business once in a while..... so I hope to visit the distillery. I get complaints from the Pronunciation Police (or as I call them "Pee Pee") ALL the time... now I intentionally mispronounce things (like "McCALLan") just to piss them off.
In wine circles, that forest floor note is identified as "sous bois", french for forest floor. Please do not read out this comment as you will f**k up the pronunciation of sous bois.
The only good whiskey is the one you like to drink, and the only correct way to pronounce it is the way that sounds good to you! (Don't ask me how many ways I've heard Laphroaig pronounced!)
The only outrage I can get behind when it comes to pronunciation is people’s names. If I know I’m not going to say it right I just give up and give them a nickname on the spot even if it don’t make sense.
Can we have a tribute to the Unknown Bastard in vault 2.0 to honor all anonymous/no note donations? Really just to honor all MBs everywhere

Tbh this channel has been so helpful with identifying nose and taste profiles.. love this place
Loved the bottle of Diamond Peak I got from the distillery. I tried to make it last, but as all whiskies do, it was eventually gone. Good stuff.
Damn that bottle evaporation!
thieving angels!

I'm from Corpus Christi and I once had an Irishman try to tell me the "correct" way to say "Whataburger".
Trying to correct a Texan's pronunciation is like trying to assign and correct a kindergartner calculus homework. Why would anyone do that? Except in India or China... you just never know with those bastards...
It will always be pronounced waterburger, all one word, try as they may to make me say what-a-burger it will always be waterburger to me!
@@AlphaOneActual Well, your parents obviously raised you right.
William Smith haha I think they did alright all things considered! Always nice seein another Texan here and in the facebook group.
I’ve passed over Stranahans too many times. I need to finally pick it up.
Drinking some Diamond Peak Batch 017 along with you guys.

I’m picking up a little Forest Whitaker in my bottle.

How to play the Whiskey Vault drinking game: One shot - Rex complaining that someone else has been drinking their own whiskey without him...

San Diego Distillery is right over your shoulder Danial. You will not be disappointed. Trust me!!!!!
Anyone else hoping tomorrow's episode is "Whiskeys for Raiding Area 51"?
RIP Steve, he was my hero growing up
When can you do Jameson Black Barrel and/or BB Reserve?
I know you tasted the penderyn Myth before but try Penderyn portwood, it's soo good and much better than Myth(in my opinion) more full, deeper flavour with a deep rich after tone of intense sort dark berries at the end! I'm from Wales by the way and there are Williams EVERYWHERE!!!!
“We’ve had this (80% empty) bottle for about 6 months now.” Come on Rex, you missed a great shot at Daniel right there.
You need to do a batch comparison!
Daniel...would you care to expand on that "sandals with socks" tasting note?
Have you guys got your hands on any of Stranahan’s snowflake ?
Do you ever get a bad batch of whiskey? Like a whiskey that's normally good, but a particular bottle that tastes like bottom shelf blended.
Mooch could have asked for a comparison with their Snowflake!! 😢
Sad day....One day I will experience a taste of Snowflake! 🥃Renita
Benjamin Eaves I saw it. Just wish everyone I know who goes there would sneak me a pour. When I last went they weren’t letting us buy a taste of it yet.

Can you please review Creek Water Whiskey owned by Yelawolf?🔥🤙🏻🙏
Stranahan's does have single barrel's if you or a store pick a barrel.
Happy post vault raid day
The Spirit Monk[e]y's outrage has been aroused due to your mispronunciation of Bear Grylls.

It's pronounced Straw nanner hands damnit!

Should I smoke meth before drinking a glass of whiskey 🥃 or after drinking. Please let me know what works best. Thanks.
You'll burn nothing Rex. Nothing.
