I’m so glad you finally reviewed this. I found it several months back and honestly think it is superior to Stranahans other, more costly, products. This stuff is just awesome.
Sitting in the hospital after greeting my new son, and I think the videos are as soothing to him as they are to me. A celebratory bottle of Lagavulin 16 is waiting to welcome the family home! Thanks for the great videos!
Blessings, dude! Buy a bottle of something and put it away until he reaches legal age. Also, invest $50 into a fund to purchase a bottle at his legal age. If "hard times" hit before his legal age, allow yourself to "steal" one or the other from him, but NOT BOTH!!!
Stranahan's used to have people volunteers to come in an fill bottles and they got to write in fun things on the bottle. I dont think they do that anymore. Mine says "Make Mine a Double" Batch 126 Edit: Correction, they do still do this program.
Another shining example of what a Somme and a Mooch can bring to a tasting! Speaking of what is brought to a tasting......do I spy with my little eye...... A Magic RUclips Button????? Congrats to you both and the Whiskey Vault/tribe and all MBs WORLDWIDE!!!! Cheers!
Crown Royal Bourbon Mash (forcibly renamed to Blender's Mash) is named that way because it's the high-corn component of Crown Royal. CR is a blend of five specific whiskies that are each distilled and aged separately to create different aspects of the final flavour profile, and Blender's Mash is one they decided to sell as its own bottling. Gooderham and Worts is the closest thing to Bourbon from the Hiram-Walker distillery that makes J.P. Wiser's. Good luck finding it in the US.
Here in Colorado you can find Blue Peak EVERYWHERE. It does not seem like it's gonna be a limited thing. Personally I prefer the regular yellow label, and vastly prefer Diamond Peak, but I truly don't think you can go wrong with Stranahan's
Having watched these magnificent bastards for years, it's really something to note the growth of Rex's palette and notes. That said, I miss the days of constant distraction/chaos that the Mooch brought upon the vault.
Yes - it's a balance. Let's hope that Rex doesn't lose his moochiness all that much more. It's the tension of the relationship between Dan and Rex that makes these channels so special. Once Sam and Diane hooked up, "Cheers" had lost its appeal (jumped the shark). . May the love between Dan and Rex never be requited!
Did a tasting at Stranahan's a month ago while visiting a friend in CO, it was by far the best tasting experience I've had so far. Definitely check it out if you're in the area. The sherry finish and single cask bottles were my favorites.
Hah! Just killed mine last night. Makes a good Old Fashioned. * The little notes are written by volunteers. You can go in and work the bottling line for a day. Payment is a bottle of whiskey. The wait list is years long.
Thanks for the review. I couldn't agree more with the reactions. Picked up a bottle about a month ago. My first American malt, and I absolutely LOVE it. Amazingly, it is also the lowest priced expression from Stranahan's.
The closing have to experiencing Stranahans is vi Tin Cup. This review is making me want to remedy that situation. I won’t be surprised to find out that I won’t be able to find that bottling where I live
Is there a list somewhere of the "gold standard" whiskeys on the shelf of honor in the corner? Also, what happened to the mooch chart? The link is dead.
Hey Rex and Daniel. I'm a brewer/brewery owner. I wonder if a lot of that "fruitiness" you're getting is often coming from the yeast used by the distiller and not the malts? There are many yeasts I use as a brewer that throw off lots of fruity "esters". In particular the British strains and the newly discovered Kveik strains from Norway. Just food for thought.
I was at the distillery a few years ago and their plan wasn’t to release a new line but to transition this method into diamond peak. Essentially it would be diamond peak just the extra step of solera at the end. It also happened to be a few days after Rob announced he was leaving to go work for Metallica so perhaps that had something to do with it.
I'm considering a Stranahans purchase soon. There are 3 or 4 options of their bottlings in Buffalo, NY. Their distribution is pretty solid it seems. But I'm sure mostly larger stores would carry them.
Hello you magnificent bastards i had a question for the Hobbit i recently picked up a used Hungarian oak wine barrel was wondering your opinions or feelings on Hungarian oak? For a bourbon type mash.
Just poured my first of the Stranahans blue peak. Had pulled my own tasting notes and i totally agree. Delicious. I am a Stranahans fan though. Cheaper in ND than standard Stranahans. Need to pick up a couple more bottles
I picked up distillery exclusives Bushmill's barrel finished Stranahan's and a cask strength bottle earlier this month! I haven't broken them open yet but will this weekend.
The cantaloupe note I got from this when I bought a bottle a few months back is fantastic. Its smooth, good near or iced, and cheaper than regular strans...
Now I understand the terrain your are on. I had looked up your location on Google maps a while back. You are right on the fault. I can see that as a possible issue for all those bottles. I tell ya what, let me have them for.... safe keeping. Yeah... nice and safe.
I need someone to explain the levels of bastardary. You got your regular MB, then a Patron Saint, then a Titan? What else is there and how do they get these titles.
It’s based on how many bottles you send in. The only other one is Benevolent Bastard, and that’s when you send in a bottle that someone has already donated
Have you guys had the opportunity to try their Snowflake bottlings or their recent rare Mountain Angel? I have a few extra nice bottles I would love to see you try and review. The Mountain Angel is their first 10 year. Has an 80-90% Angels share!!!
I don’t even need to watch the videos anymore I just base my opinion on the whiskey by the facial opinion y’all express in the thumbnail if good or nah. Ima stay for the madness tho. Surprisingly good kazoo btw m8s
What we need is Laphroig to make a bourbon with peet smoked corn. Edit: Imagine if they teamed up with four roses to get that heavy cherry note. That with the smoke could make it like a BBQ sauce.
John L. Sullivan did a brief release called an "Irish Bourbon" that was a blend of Bourbon & 10-year-old Irish Single Malt. They were told they could not use the name anymore by the U.S. Federal Government and they discontinued it or just changed the label...
Here in Ontario, we can't get the *"Blue Peak",* at the LCBO. But we can get the regular *"Stranahans Colorado Whiskey"* ($69.30 cdn), and the *"Sherry Cask"* ($89.95 cdn).
Raging Crow Distillery in North River, Nova Scotia make "Can't Call It B**rbon". They follow all the same rules, but also manage to poke fun at the rules.
so funny story about this whiskey. the week this came out. i went to the distillery to buy it and they said they didn't have any to sell directly. i had to go to a liqour store to find it. ok maybe not funny but interesting they didnt have any yet to sell. only select liqour stores
This video got me thinking, I would love to see you guys do an episode, where you talk about some of your favourite discoveries throughout the years prior. Not a "best of" list (I know you hate them) but more a list of things that surprised you/were new to you. do it you cowards
I don't think it's really a fair comparison, using that Stranny’s yellow label, considering how old it is. The bottle shape is one generation behind, and the label is like two or three generations back. That bottle’s gotta be at least four or five years old, not to mention the surface level is so low, it's probably oxidized beyond recognition. If you guys like the blue peak so much, Stranahan’s Snowflake will absolutely blow you away.
THE CLAW OF TASTE!! Behold it's grabby glory!
Read that in Invader Zim’s voice lol
Good morning gents! Thank you for the review! Glad you like it! Until next time....
The fact Rex couldn't recall solera casking shows all is still well & right in the world...(of whisky of course)!
The Blue Peak is just so, so good. I am glad someone else thinks so. And it's around $38 here in Denver. Fantastic!
I’m so glad you finally reviewed this. I found it several months back and honestly think it is superior to Stranahans other, more costly, products. This stuff is just awesome.
I AGREE!!!!!!!
Best part of my work day is watching this channel.
Stranahan's is the whiskey that made me fall in love with the spirit. Any time I see Stranny on the channel, I click without asking any questions.
The claw of taste hit me so perfectly. Made my day.
Sitting in the hospital after greeting my new son, and I think the videos are as soothing to him as they are to me. A celebratory bottle of Lagavulin 16 is waiting to welcome the family home! Thanks for the great videos!

Congratulations sir!
If anything were to ever happen, us MB's are here for you through it all.
You know Daniel likes a whiskey when he compliments it and looks deeply into the bottle
Just showed up here in wisconsin, wish I grabbed it. Have to go back to the store.
Stranahan's used to have people volunteers to come in an fill bottles and they got to write in fun things on the bottle. I dont think they do that anymore.
Mine says "Make Mine a Double" Batch 126
Edit: Correction, they do still do this program.
I absolutely love the Blue Peak! Such a good whiskey. And it’s cheaper, right now, then the regular bottling.
This intro of Titan is FIRE!🔥
Another shining example of what a Somme and a Mooch can bring to a tasting! Speaking of what is brought to a tasting......do I spy with my little eye...... A Magic RUclips Button????? Congrats to you both and the Whiskey Vault/tribe and all MBs WORLDWIDE!!!! Cheers!
Well done William! You sent something they really liked!!!

What's fantastic is that paired with a cigar, this turns into absolute bananas foster

Question unrelated to this video. Are there any whiskies in the Vault from distilleries which (sadly) have closed since the time y'all reviewed them?
Just bought this the other day, solid bottle for the price!
What time of day do y’all film vault episodes? How many glasses do you pour per batch ?
-Sincerely, a concerned fan
Like 10am from the sound of it and they do like 3-4, can only tell by the change of Rex’s shirt
Taste buds are generally much much better in the morning, the best time to taste….

Lucky enough to find 1 a couple weeks ago. Agreed, exceptional
Is there a list somewhere of the "gold standard" whiskeys on the shelf of honor in the corner? Also, what happened to the mooch chart? The link is dead.
Excellent special effects. Kudos!
Just picked it up. The apple aftertaste in amazing. My new favorite
Finally got my hands on this. Loving the malty funky finish on the palate. So tasty.

My son and I just opened our first bottle of Blue Peak last night. The timing is funny. I really like this and for the $$$ it seems a real good value.

Man, I love that sweded (q.v. Be Kind Rewind) titan animation.
I picked up distillery exclusives Bushmill's barrel finished Stranahan's and a cask strength bottle earlier this month! I haven't broken them open yet but will this weekend.
Great vid. Thanks guyssss
Blue Peak is one of our favorites!
That's one hell of an MB intro! Love it! 🤣
The cantaloupe note I got from this when I bought a bottle a few months back is fantastic. Its smooth, good near or iced, and cheaper than regular strans...
Adding to the wishlist
My Dog Attacked my Laptop on that intro...
Thx guys!
Cheers!! hahaha

Good Morning Gentlemen.
I need someone to explain the levels of bastardary. You got your regular MB, then a Patron Saint, then a Titan? What else is there and how do they get these titles.
It’s based on how many bottles you send in.

Welcome to William Shappert's 4,456th Titan intro.

Cork-slam graphics = win!

It has been a while but could we get another video, maybe on the other channel, about blending budget whiskey to recreate some RWF?
And it's even a lower price point than the normal Stranahan's.... You can't beat that with a bat!
Loving my bottle and I keep getting a peach ring candy note and love it so much that it’s vanishing bit to quick
Hey do you let viewers send in whiskey for you to test ?
I would love to see your opinion on one of my favourites
GOOD MORNING YOU MB'S... 🥃
This is readily available. It’s one of my favorites.
Hail to William Schappert
A few years ago, JP WISERS in Canada made a bourbon style whisky called Last Barrels, but it was very limited edition.
What we need is Laphroig to make a bourbon with peet smoked corn.
Edit: Imagine if they teamed up with four roses to get that heavy cherry note. That with the smoke could make it like a BBQ sauce.
That sounds delicious
Hatch Distillery here in WI does a bourbon aged in Laphroig barrels. And it is exactly what you mention, with a little mesquite flavor in it.
Do you guys have an episode of "Colorado" made whiskeys?
John L. Sullivan did a brief release called an "Irish Bourbon" that was a blend of Bourbon & 10-year-old Irish Single Malt. They were told they could not use the name anymore by the U.S. Federal Government and they discontinued it or just changed the label...
There's a Dalmore 27 Cadenheads at my liquor shop. $300. Should I buy guys???
That was great I want more.
I really like this stuff.
Here in Ontario, we can't get the *"Blue Peak",* at the LCBO. But we can get the regular *"Stranahans Colorado Whiskey"* ($69.30 cdn), and the *"Sherry Cask"* ($89.95 cdn).
The Sherry cask is so freaking good.
They also just came out with a distillery only release.
This is about 35 bucks where I am. Totally worth it.
It would be great to see more single grain style whisky but pot distilled!
That was a fucking weird intro! I love this whiskey!
Just saw this on sale the other day & considered it.
Raging Crow Distillery in North River, Nova Scotia make "Can't Call It B**rbon". They follow all the same rules, but also manage to poke fun at the rules.
The magic of belle Isle by Morgan Freeman. Stranahan's whisky is in😀
so funny story about this whiskey. the week this came out. i went to the distillery to buy it and they said they didn't have any to sell directly. i had to go to a liqour store to find it.
ok maybe not funny but interesting they didnt have any yet to sell. only select liqour stores
The funny thing was that I bought this the day before and compared it to the yellow label, that I was finishing off.
Tell the guys at Teeling about the bourbon style in Ireland. They do all sort of weird experiments
This video got me thinking, I would love to see you guys do an episode, where you talk about some of your favourite discoveries throughout the years prior. Not a "best of" list (I know you hate them) but more a list of things that surprised you/were new to you. do it you cowards
Sweet
I got a bottle of this same size on sale for $23 yesterday
They haven't done the funny comments in YEARS. Man, I miss that.
To me, in this episode, it seems like Daniel is trying to get Rex drunk. Or at least butter him up.. I wonder what his angle is???
That bottle is like Rex, round at the front, flat at the back
Dang walked by it yesterday and tried Jura 12 . Wrong choice
FYI, the speed of light is 286,000 miles per second. Basically, going to the moon and back in less than 2 seconds.
So their process is like an infinity barrel.
The Claaaaaaaw!
Damn right when I finished my bottle
I feel like the final evolution after "Titan of whiskey" is "God of Whiskey".
Hahahaaa! Shenanigans are back! 🥰
NIIIIIIICE!
That is one delish whiskey ☺️
Tell them the room is full of collectible glass. Works for US and UK customs. I mean... so I hear.
Num nums.
Gd one fellas
Well hopefully Midleton are listening and can pass a little note off to Method and Madness.
Many would argue a bourbon has to come from Ky....esp. Kentuckians...(speaking as a former resident),
