Ronaldo kept himself in amazing shape given the amount of tackles he's gotten. The injury that forced him to change his game though was before the 2014 world cup, where he decided to take part in the competition instead of making a full recovery. His dribbling and speed wasn't the same after that so he began the transition away from a showman into a prolific goalscorer. Before Messi became relevant, people used to make dribbling videos comparing young Ronaldo and Ronaldinho which speaks for itself

It's just relating it to something us Americans understand a bit better. It's hard to see in the course of a game, when you see highlights of his dribbling or his headers, it becomes obvious. To us, just speed or acceleration by itself doesn't seem that special by itself, but when you see his size and his jumping/cutting ability, it becomes obvious to us that he's a super-athlete. Like baseball, soccer to us is more of an everyman's sport. You can still be a great player through hard work and repetition and being highly skilled. But athletically, Cristiano is on the level of a top wide receiver in American football, or a special NBA player. True athletic freaks that are big, strong, fast, quick, elusive, all in one. It's a very rare combination, and to see it in any sport is such a pleasure to watch. Awe-inspiring.

As he got older he started to dribble less but became more effective as a player and consistently scored 50-60 goals a season for like 7-8 years straight, which is insane considering that Lewandowski was the only player in europe to score over 50 goals last season. Great video guys. I hear you talk about Ronaldo being quick but maybe not super fast. Just to give you a little perspective on how much of a beast Goatnaldo is. For being 6' 2" he has unbelievable cuts and acceleration for his height which you don't typically see in taller footballers. That's why you see him wrecking players left and right with his crossovers, elasticos, reverse elasticos, jukes and feints among other skills. As far as top speed goes Ronaldo was clocked at a top speed of 34 km/h(21.127 mph) at the 2018 World Cup at the age of 33. He had the fastest clocked speed out of all the footballers at the World Cup. Unbelievable for a 33 year old. To put that into perspective, Julio Jones in the NFL top speed during a game was 21.13 mph and Chris Thompson at 21.19 mph. Granted they have pads on but Ronaldo's top speed is up there with the fastest NFL players. Ronaldo has consistently been one of the top 10 fastest footballers in the world for over 10 years. Even at the age of 34 in 2019, Ronaldo was the second fastest footballer in the Serie A Italian league and fastest striker. Just imagine if they clocked him in his 20's. And yes, Ronaldo is faster than Messi who has a top speed of 32.5 km/h(20.3 mph).
Another interesting fact about Ronaldo is his vertical jump is 3 inches higher than the average NBA player. The guy is a beast and the 🐐
You can get a good idea of how high Ronaldo jumps by watching Cristiano Ronaldo headers that violate the laws of physics

Young CR was probably the fastest and quickest player in the world. If i recall correctly, he once made a 100m time good enough to apply to the Olympics. You can defend a player if he is either quick, fast or technical. But CR was quick, fast, technical AND would overpower most players even at such young age. He had too many options and the skills to perform any of them.
CR knew that this flamboyant football is not sustainable. Wingers that use speed this much won't last much as they either get injured or start losing a step or two with time. That's why he started to change his game during his mid 20s and slowly became stronger, heavier and more interested in scoring goals than make all those runs for the sake of other strikers.
Now at 35 he changed his game again. He plays way more near the box, saves his runs for when he needs to and lost weight to keep him light in his feet. He evolved other things like shot precision, leadership and he seems to be a better aerial player than he ever was. When he really needs to, he is still able to out jump or outrun trough quick bursts any other player.
This guy is the epitome of perfection. He took care of his body since day 1 and always knew what to do to stay at the top for so many years. Most players get stuck in their ways and rather quit the game than reinvent themselves.

Ronaldo hardly had any injuries through out his career (so far) and as for the Messi or Ronaldo debate I'm firmly on the side of Ronaldo being the best player. He (in my opinion) is faster, stronger, better in the air, better from set pieces, more consistent, he always performs in the biggest games, he is far more enjoyable to watch (much fancier skills and back and shoulder passes) Ronaldo hits massive numbers and entertains and that's before you even start on the fact that he has won things in 4 leagues including the three biggest in the world and the European cup triumph with Portugal. Messi has had a team built around him since he was a teenager, everything based around him and put in place to get the most out of him and has never performed at his best for Argentina but seriously its like saying the 2nd most beautiful women in the world is ugly or something when clearly that isn't the case. we are talking about the best 2 players in the world for quite some time if not ever, just because i believe Ronaldo edges it I am by no means a Messi hater, i think we are incredibly lucky to be able to have two players of such incredible ability and we should just cherish and enjoy the ride while we still can.

That injury also affected his free kick performance as well.....as he has started to decline in his free kick performance or free kick scoring ability right after the injury. As a defender, you don’t want to get caught ball watching too much. The ball will always move faster then you will. The player with the ball cant. It’s more important to block the goal, passing lanes and running lanes then it is to tackle the ball. If you go to where the ball IS, you’ll miss it. You have to predict where it’s going and with a player like Ronaldo, you really have no idea so most defenders will just focus on making sure they don’t give up an easy run and end up on his highlight reel.
Last thing you want to do is over commit and let a player as fast as Ronaldo have a free run towards your goal

Ronaldo doesn't have a lot of injuries however he was a permanent injury in his right knee that's why he stopped doing so many dribbles and turned into a goal machine
And Ronaldo was indeed for many year the Fastest player and he still his like top 15 with 35 years on his ID card lmao

Something Americans dont realise is that sportsman dont always have to be 8ft tall and 250pds. theses guys rarely break 200pounds. This is why ronaldo doesnt dmg his knees that much. If Lebron or brady did the same thing their knees would break. Soccer is played world wide cause doesnt matter if ur 5ft or 7ft, you can be as successful as Messi (5ft6) and Ronaldo (6ft6).

Mhmhssc pmbtvsmsrsc lmao just because he breaks them doesn’t mean he’s obsessed with them. What do you want him to do not play football or something 😂 and literally what’s wrong with wanting to have a long career and doing what you love for a living. And wouldn’t anyone want to avoid injuries? Why would players want to get injured. And Ronaldo has been a diver
