This was an amazing episode. The absolute emotions that came from this discussion has baffled me, saddened me, enraged me, and brought me the greatest hope for the future. Thank you Andy and Hollie!!
She held herself together really well when she relived the stories. Im willing to bet it's really hard for her inside her mind.those experiences ,seeing the things she had seen, meeting the savages and everything in between that was unimaginable... it would be a mixed bag of confusion, anger, guilt, empathy, etc.I don't quite understand the complexity of what's going on,and frankly I don't want to.my 2 daughters have a comfortable and awesome life my girls worry about tablets and food. We are standing on the shoulders of those that deal with the burden of modern evil.Great episode ,thank you ! I
My WWII father grew up in a house without electricity until he was 18. Ice was cut from the lake in the winter and stacked with hay in the cellar to have cooling capabilities throughout the year...he reminded me of this when he heard one of the "iphone-using, latte sipping types" crying about poverty. My father never thought he was living in poverty growing up because he was taught by his TWO PARENTS that he should have gratitude for what he had, not anger over what he didn't. Gratitude is sadly missing in America today.
Also probably helps that many people were in the same situation and as a child it is simply just the normal way of life. The hard work of our previous generations was to make life easier for the next, but the important lessons are being forgotten One problem today is that for many life is very comfortable, and the price of everything is known, but the the worth of it all has become flipped.
Maybe the truth is your father had it better because he had 2 parents and that latte-sipping type is actually worse off cause even though his Generation won WW2 they created and raised the Baby Boomers who then proceeded to tear up the family, create a society where we are all in debt to a few, but get fancy drinks probably filled with poisons created by the Greatest Generation and Dow you created all kinds of chemicals from war that ended up in consumer goods and probably still poising us.
Don't forget that the "Greatest Generation" were the leaders who gave us Vietnam and basically wasted all the good faith in Government they built in WW2. Think we learned our lesson, nope the Boomers get us into Afghanistan and Iraq (Actually a GG & Boomer combo of the Bush father/son combo did that) and here we are 20 years later.
I'd give up A/C and lattes to have two parents like your father did. I'd give up a lot to have my murdered family members back. Don't judge, comparison is the thief of hapiness. Everyone has their struggles my man.

@@Tacit_Tern Obviously no, I’m not aware of how to get it. Would you happen to know how for someone of very low income in Texas who has a DD214 with only 22 days of service on it, & an on-paper PTSD diagnosis from non-military stuff?
It's hard for me to fathom, that a pretty young woman has been in war torn countries dealing with the awful and horrible things that war is . Because when thier is war the gloves are off
Andy, I know this is a very difficult request, but if you could get Maynard James Keenan on here (maybe through Todd Fox?) that would be awesome. I think it would be really interesting for the 2 of you to interact, especially given how Tool was one of your go-tos back in the day. Would also be great to see an interview with John “Shrek” McPhee. He’s a funny dude with a great story and a great perspective. Plus he rags on SEALs a fair amount. I think the back-and-forth would make for a really interesting episode. Thanks as always for the great content and for providing a measured voice of reason when there’s so many people on the extremes!
Psilocybin is a MUST!! I think all men and women for that matter should be asked to do a “trip” or quest before joining the army or any service! Also any President we elect MUST have a psychedelic experience or we shouldn’t elect them
The medical side of it is not tripping, but micro-dosing. Tripping has different effects on people and not always for the better and not always "life altering", so no we shouldn't be asking people to do a "trip" before going into those professions. Everyone who likes to trip says this same thing because they like it but it is not for everyone.

Wow, kicking things off with DMT. Yes please. Been there, done that almost 10 years ago. Would probably greatly benefit from doing it again at the moment. To this day, it was the most beneficial & profound individual life-experience that I’ve ever had. Extraordinarily good.
@@lauramorgan27 100% agree. DMT at 17 also helped me to decide to avoid pharmaceuticals at all costs, as I became a forced prescription pill addict who felt like I was slowly dying at the age of 16-17 by the force of my parents and my pediatrician. I was forced & coerced into taking many different psych meds as a teenager when I felt like there was truly nothing actually wrong with me. Those pills genuinely almost killed me. I complained about horrible side effects every single appointment. The doctor’s response would literally be, word for word, “Hmm, well that’s not normal. Maybe you just need a higher dose.” They would prescribe a higher dose, my mom would force me to take the pills, and the doctors never documented a single one of my side effect complaints... Even for years after the age of 18, my parents still forced me to be involved in psychiatry, or else they would threaten to kick me out & make me homeless. Joined the Navy at 19, but that didn’t work out as a result of recruiter lies & paperwork mistakes. Had no choice but to go back home, where my parents forced me to get back into psychiatry. Took years for me to get my parents to fuck off. Have been off off all pharmaceuticals for probably 5 years now with zero issues. The fact that America still drugs it’s own children & citizens is absolutely baffling to me.
Ive talked to conservatives who are still stuck in the 1970s with their drug mentality. As long as they make policies things like this will never get standardized. This is coming from me and I'm not a liberal.4

True evil is inflicting pain and suffering on the most innocent person just for the sake of watching them suffer. It’s seeking out the destruction of the individual because you like it and it brings you real joy. The reason why is because in that context it transcends ideology or group think. My only disagreement here, is the religion comparison. Most of this conflict is 100% because of radical Islam. I don't think religion is low on the reasons, I believe it is the reason! Religious zealots are the reason for legalism and why there are so many "Rules". The people cannot live without religious interference.

Religion may not be at the top of the list for everyone joining ISIS (money etc...), however for most of the devoted fighters it is...You also have to look at their message and propaganda...it is truly in line with radical Islam and how Muhammad lived. So trying to look for other motives to muddy the water on what they are trying to push is a bit disingenuous...

Felt kind of stupid posting, but you know how family can become so separated and far apart and when Hollie started talking about dancing... Just felt bad I couldn’t do more for my Mom. No funeral or anything. I told the relatives I know, but they are far away.
@@charliemike13 sorry to hear about your mom. We actually didn’t find time to go and I still stuck at dancing
Thank you both for such an insightful interview.
Best part of Monday is this podcast
Excellent content. Great conversation!
Wow! Fantastic interview. Thank you.
This was a good episode. Super heavy, but she’s got great stories and can’t wait to hear about her next adventure.
Holly Mceffingawesome! Heard her other podcasts. I will share this with many people and my adult kids. Thank you Andy... and Holly. 💯✌
Listened to her on jocko and Mike drop. Good stuff. Can't wait to listen to Andy's!

You are aware that Psilocybin has been used for almost a decade now for Palliative and Veteran Care, yes?
I highly recommend looking into the work of John's Hopkins and the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, or the Beckley Foundation.
Ps. Even if it was illegal.... it would be against the jurisprudence of the founding fathers. Hinged upon Nixon's ignorance.
....just saying.
@@Tacit_Tern
Obviously no, I’m not aware of how to get it.
Would you happen to know how for someone of very low income in Texas who has a DD214 with only 22 days of service on it, & an on-paper PTSD diagnosis from non-military stuff?
Can't say this enough, I love the humility of TRUTH this podcast brings.
It's hard for me to fathom, that a pretty young woman has been in war torn countries dealing with the awful and horrible things that war is . Because when thier is war the gloves are off
What is war: It's pain, it's simple, it's absolute, it's defining, it's refining, it's hate, it's love, it's brotherhood... War is unnecessary.
She’s a gem of a human.
Hollie is from my home town. What a great export!
G'day Andy. Great choice for your podcast mate. Maybe I'm just more excited seeing how she's a fellow Aussie. 👍🇦🇺🕊
Excellent episode Andy.
Amazing journalist!
Arguably the best book on the topic
I love alternative medicine options. I'm happy Montana is finally getting on board.
I find it very interesting that her experiences and ideologies align so closely with Andy's.
I’ve done Ayahuasca in the desert and it’s the closest you’ll get to an exorcism.
As some who took Ayahusca in the desert i can confirm all my demons came out and it felt terrible. Lol but it was the best thing ever to happen.
Very excellently said...lol.
She is awesome! Beautiful, smart and that accent!! Complete package for sure.
3 podcast in recent months I’ve heard with Holly as the guest.
Great stuff, little more and different insight with each interview
Wow. She is amazing. 🙏for her next venture.

Couldn't quite put my finger on how the energy between them could match up so well, but also very contrasting. Then Andy brought up ballet and I think that's what I was seeing. There are obvious contrasts between them, but the biggest to my soupy brain is posture. 😂
In most small towns I'm familiar with I think you could say people have the connection you're talking about . . .
Brilliant
I'm mesmerized by her beauty, heart, courage, and intelligence. To meet a woman like her...wow. If I'm ever lost in the dessert in Australia, I hope she's there to save me with a kiss after passing out from dehydration, and covers the amazing story.
That's weird man.
@@corail53 I was just messing around man. I also didn't do it to make fun of her. I did it as a joke of how some guys respond to women. I wouldn't respond to her, or to any woman in this way in person. Don't take it seriously. Although, I still think she's beautiful, has heart, has courage, and is intelligent. Maybe I'll delete it since people might take it too seriously.
Good on you Andy.
I love Andy's joker laugh.
Edit: for anyone interested I'm posting a link to a lesser known military podcast featuring Hollie called battle line podcast. I discovered it doing a bit of a deep dive on Hollie after her Mike drop appearance and I'm glad I did. It's pretty good and deserves to be up there with the likes of Jocko, Mike drop and cleared hot. There's a lot of really good episodes with all kinds of guests and want to share it with my fellow "cleared hot heads". Hope y'all enjoy and have a great week.

Him talking about how a country should concentrate on the “cost” of war reminds me of Karl Marlantes. I’d love if he got Karl on.
I feel bad I forgot to use your promo code when ordering LMNT. Now they don't know that you sent me!
I stopped your podcast to go listen. Good stuff.

Wow, kicking things off with DMT.
Yes please.
Been there, done that almost 10 years ago. Would probably greatly benefit from doing it again at the moment.
To this day, it was the most beneficial & profound individual life-experience that I’ve ever had.
Extraordinarily good.
Yep. Anti-depressants don't even come close. It's absolutely criminal that we are denying people the chance to heal with these insane drug laws.
@@lauramorgan27
100% agree.
Maybe you just need a higher dose.”
They would prescribe a higher dose, my mom would force me to take the pills, and the doctors never documented a single one of my side effect complaints...

Are all these podcasts essentially book ads?....
True evil is inflicting pain and suffering on the most innocent person just for the sake of watching them suffer. It’s seeking out the destruction of the individual because you like it and it brings you real joy. The reason why is because in that context it transcends ideology or group think. It’s willing to commit the most heinous acts just because.
Gorgeous, and that accent wow. Hollie is nice too.

Hey, does anyone know in which episode of Jocko podcast she was a guest?
Oh, ok, nevermind :) He said it was ep.271
My only disagreement here, is the religion comparison. Most of this conflict is 100% because of radical Islam. I don't think religion is low on the reasons, I believe it is the reason! Religious zealots are the reason for legalism and why there are so many "Rules". The people cannot live without religious interference.
Religion has been the cause of more wars than even land grabs and commodities.
This podcast brings in a great crowd! To everyone here have a great week and keep your eyes peeled for the 1 year anniversary of burning down America... stay safe out there!

Until sin nature is eliminated by God, war will never end.

I dont want to sound like a dick, but it was unnecessary to constantly refer to the Hollie's Jocko podcast to the point where you were identifying her answers as identical to the answer she gave on the podcast.
Before anyone goes nuts on me, he literally referred one of her answers as a 'dichotomy'.
I like the CLEARED HOT PODCAST. Just stick with your style and not a carbon copy of someone else's.
Interesting topic nonetheless.
