Hey man. Kiwi lad here. Just found your podcast. And fair play mate, hard to disagree. Nice work bro. And 100% fair play to what the ENG bought, there’s obvious improvements to come, and they’re gonna become a hell of a team. Just like I don’t think we can judge this new ABs era so quickly. It’s gonna take time if it’s gonna become great. Well done ENG, on and off the field. Great to our countries head to head again , with proper rugby respect. Keep the good work bro!
Thanks, man! Really appreciate your comments. I'm so excited to see England taking on a more challenging path by attempting to play a much more dynamic style. Should make for great matches between our nations for the foreseeable! How do you think you'll fix your lineout?
Our lineout last year was great. Cody was throwing and Scott was calling. So that hasn’t changed, what’s changed Is the calls and language with new coaches. The ability proven, so my take is the timing is off, then once you lose a few against your throw you second guess which puts timing off even more. Taking nothing from the English line out D which was superb. But I think the team will be able fix it. They’ll need to, we gotta huge season! Cheers bro
Scrum, accuracy and dropping off the concentration in the mid 2nd half and the bench not making a positive difference are all workons for Borthwick. These were consistently the problems for Eng in both games. The scrum in particular puts Eng at a disadvantage before they have even started the game. Disappointed is a good place for Eng to be, it will motivate them to get better, after all alot of these players have little international experience (although they do now 😊)
It's a mix of not having test experience and tiring (causing your decision making to get worse) and the bench😅, I seem to recall Woodwards Eng not sorting this dip out for a long time. The scrum is a major distraction in their game atm. If they had a good scrum NZ would have struggled in the 2 tests (although if NZ sort out their lineout they could be better too). Do you remember Argentina used to have that secondary push in their scrum which used to destroy all their competitors scrum..maybe we need an old Argentine scrum coach to bring back some dark arts?
Ugly Rugby from the ABs,until Beauden came on,Itoji was immense ,got away with a lot as well,Marcus Smith just gets better, didn't rate him in his early years. Can't wait for our ABs to play at Twickenham, that's going to be a much bigger mountain to cross.
Think England missed another opportunity but at the end of the day England trying to live off morale victories is not good , in the last 6 games we have lost 4 won 2 one against a tier 2 nation. While England are improving I believe the top 4 teams will improve a lot more so England at number 5 in the world is about right. I think when the November comes around the ABs will be much better and SA will be a real force…
I don't think England is trying to live off moral victories, I think they are trying to win. That's certainly been their constant chat. I do think No.5 in the world feels about right. However, I'm cautiously excited about the coming 12 months...
Isn't every test match an opportunity mate ..u think the all blacks are going to give anyone an opportunity to beat us..that's all I been hearing..first it was a missed opportunity in the first test ...and again u think u missed another opportunity in the 2nd test...no such things as missed opportunities u either win or lose but it was gd test match rugby to watch

Really enjoyed your take. You definitely saw the same game I did!
England gave it everything and you can be well proud of your lads.
Thank you! I am indeed very proud of the lads

Some good calls there, Derek. Do you think the 'dropping off' with 20 to go is a technical, tactical or emotional thing?

Really good analysis.
Thank you - appreciate it!

The Twickenham test will be hotly awaited - we'll know a lot more about both these teams by then...

@@amateurrugbypodcast I agree but talk of a real force without results is very strange.
Who is talking about a real force?

@@michaelrooks4030 you could be right it was a good test game, but in comparison to the match in SA it was boys to men …
England did not have the mindset to win well next time
Why? What do you think their mindset was?
