    WOW. What a beautiful piece of meat. Should be good. I have had the same problem with a butt roast being too large for my slow cooker. Since they were on such a good sale I ended up buying an even larger one and having the butcher cut it in half. Fit perfectly, was plenty of meat and I had a very well wrapped one waiting in my freezer.

    I ordered one of those butt roasts for the carnitas I made a week or so ago. I think they gave me the biggest one they had. 😂 It was too big for my crockpot. I ended up cutting it into 3 pieces and freezing 2 of them. Then, after eating on the carnitas for several meals, we still had enough for many more meals. I froze the leftovers in meal-sized portions (big enough for the two of us), so it will be nice to pull out on days I don’t feel like cooking. I’m going to try using your recipe for one of the other big chunks I froze.

    I think I've read that you're not supposed to clamp the lid down while cooking. (Pressure will build up if the vent hole clogs)
    Looks like a great sauce.

    • @GabbyGirl73
      @GabbyGirl73 Год назад +2

      That's true! I own this very same slow cooker and the clamps are for traveling when you are taking the dish somewhere, but you should never clamp the lid down during cooking! Could be dangerous! This is what the instructions say..."If there is a locking lid feature on your glass lid, that is only to prevent spills when you're toting the Crockpot to your potluck, not for when you're cooking. "Locking those latches during cooking might build up pressure and might cause the lid to shatter or even cause the Stoneware to break."

  • @GabbyGirl73
    @GabbyGirl73 Год назад +2

    I have to agree with so many others who have commented on this video that this is not BBQ pork ~ This is a pork butt roast slow cooked and drenched in liquid! And just FYI, you should NEVER clamp the lid down on that slow cooker, which I also own the same one, per the instructions...If there is a locking lid feature on your glass lid, that is only to prevent spills when you're toting the Crockpot to your potluck, not for when you're cooking. "Locking those latches during cooking might build up pressure and might cause the lid to shatter or even cause the Stoneware to break." I do pork BBQ in mine, but I do not add liquid and absolutely NO oregano! Never heard of that and don't want that taste in BBQ. When mine is done it has produced it's own liquid from the fat in the meat, which I drain off completely. I shred the meat, add BBQ sauce and put it back in the slow cooker just to keep it warm.

    Looks Great. I buy pork loin 2-3 lbs.. I put the pork loin in a slow cooker, add a liter of root beer and let it cook on low for about 5hrs. When done I drain the root beer, shred the pork and put it back into the cooker and add my favorite bbq. sauce. Let it set in the cooker on low for about 15 mins. just to warm the sauce up. Mouth watering and delicious. Larger pork loins take longer to cook. Thanks for all your videos.

    If you ever make it down to Paris, Tennessee stop at Trolinger's on 79 (The lake highway) and get you some of their pulled pork bbq sandwiches. I buy the pulled pork in bulk, like 5 lbs of it whenever I go down. The sauce they use is peppery and a mild sandwich will have one squirt of sauce and a hot sandwich will have a couple. Order it with vinegar slaw on the sandwich when you do. I guarantee you will love it!

    As I keep watching I think of more things. I may be making too many comments. Something that has surprised me is that I've never seen you use digital food thermometer. If you had one or used one you could have known for sure your roast was done all the way through before you took it from the slow cooker. Just before you took a break so we didn't have to watch you shred the entire roast it looked like it was not shredding as easily as it had with the meat nearest the outside of the roast. Was it done all the way through? It's happened to me before. I ended up having to cook it longer before the middle would shred easily too.

    I just had to mention it's AWES😎ME of you to have recorded this video as early as you did. It's definitely not like you had to, but ya did. Pork also happens to be my most preferred meat, especially if it's made certain ways. My most preferred is thin cut pork chops, but I do like pulled pork BBQ, too! That's definitely a big chunk of meat! I can't say I've ever seen clamps on a crock pot lid. Funky!
    I found out bison is actually the healthiest meat, but I've yet to try it. There's actually a family owned restaurant not too far from me, "Wooden Nickel Buffalo Farm," where they raise bison and the restaurant is right next door to their home. They have a website and they take orders online.

    When you were adding the sauce to the slow cooker I didn't see any salt or pepper on that roast. That's a lot of meat to cook unsalted. Maybe I just didn't see it ... could it have been too early in the morning and you forgot it. I know your sauce is filled with flavor but, unless I missed it, you didn't add any salt to that either. Likewise, I don't salt my BBQ sauce but a piece of meat that large I would well season with salt and pepper. I've watched a lot of your videos and I've never seen you not season meat. Unless one of the other ingredients was laden with salt. What did I miss? Was there a reason no S & P?

    How is the best way to warm this barbeque?

      You can reheat in a microwave or on the stovetop. Just take care not to burn it on the stovetop. Thank you so much for watching. We really appreciate it.

    Couldn’t you have cut some of the roast off to make it the size of your wishes? That way you could have froze the smaller roast for another time.

      Yes, we decided to freeze what’s left over and we’ll enjoy it again in a couple of weeks. But we could definitely have cut it into a smaller size.
