As a LN reader I knew this was coming, and it was still brutal. Studio Bind had one job. They get an S rank.
Bind better handle next episode better than this one cuz its gonna be disaster if they deliver the upcoming contents in wrong way
The opening has a lot symbolism about Paul passing the torch to Rudeus. There`s another thing that can be guessed from the opening, goof thing you didn`t notice.

Not sure what he was referring to, but that's not Rudeus caressing Paul's armor, it's Zenith (Rudeus doesn't have two hands after all). That shows that at the very least, Zenith recognizes Paul's death.
@@israel.s.garcia I didn't even realise the meaning of that scene despite reading the LN. But on the other hand I don't think it's easily understood by anime only so I guess that slips.
Once you've finished the last episode
someone suggested that the baby that you don't see the face of at about 7 seconds into the OP isn't Rudeus, but actually Lucy, and I also think that's the case.

I’m glad I waited to watch as well. Also good job for actually avoiding the OP until now, pretty much every other reactor let themselves get spoiled. Not really their fault tho Studio Bind showed way too much here.

Also you should react to Paul’s cd drama for his death scene that’s making its rounds across the internet/twitter. It’s apparently written by the OG author but not in the light novel and shows Paul’s final thoughts.
If Studio Bind goes back to the original OP style for season 3, I will make a one hour MT season 1 opening style appreciation video and just talk about all the reasons why this was such a great idea in the first place.
I haven't seen/heard of the CD drama (regarding Paul's death), but I'll look into it!

Finally, spoilers aside, what a great OP!
lol There is still a simple image "spoiler" but it is practically undetectable until it happens in the anime (or you read the LN).
I also liked the detail of the flower, at first you can look for the symbolism, maybe it has it, but the important thing is where the flower is and in the background you can see a invocation circle drawn.
i'm not sure if you read my comment in the ep 21 video, a little info about Rapan City. But more than likely someone else already provided the detailed info haha
If you look carefully in the first OP of the second season "Spiral" they also gave a small glimpse of a transportation circle at the labyrinth ( in the beginning when the picture lights up blue representing Roxy).
The predictions video is going to be more than interesting to watch xD

You can see rudy looking at the gravestone with paul behind him. It litterly shows is that. I cant believe they showed it at 2:04 (and a couplenframes before) and as i knew whatbwas coming in couldn't believe it
People on Twitter have been sharing a voice acted CD (a reading of the LN) that shows the perspective of Paul in his last moments, if you care a bit about what he was thinking I’d recommend it

I just hope we get Season 3 soon now. Season 3 should be more peak than what we just saw if they did it right...... Let's hope the next intro doesn't go into that much spoilers 😅😅😅
As a LN reader, I was so scared that they could fumble on the Hydra episode. But Bind delivered even more than what I could ask for. I am so hype for all the fighting and despair in season 3 now.

@@ietdkvd That does remind me, I wonder if Rudeus will be recast with a different VA, since he's an adult now, it feels kinda weird he still sounds like when he's a kid.
As someone who is an enthusiast of the old opening styles, I'm in favor of season 3 being done completely with those instead. This way everything is done spoiler free!
Hey Lykeson, not sure if you have heard Paul's last thoughts/groups reaction yet but here they are:
*Rudeus heals himself*
Paul: Then, next heal me as we... Eh? This is weird... my voice is not coming out... I can't move... my body, either.
Rudeus: Calm down... what changes if you've lost your left hand? The Hydra was a pretty strong enemy. "You saved me, Father."
Elinalise: No way...
Roxy: No...
Geese: Hey, hey... really now...?
Paul: Everyone... is making a face I've already seen before. It's the face people put on when someone dies...
Rudeus: "...Father? Huh? Why are you lying down? Eh? Why... Are you missing your lower body? Eh?"
Paul: Ahhh... So that's it. It was me, huh.
Before the last head fell down unto Rudy, I kicked him.
And then, instead, the Hydra fell on me.
My lower half was eaten by the Hydra in one shot, and I lost it.
A wound like this... can't be helped by healing magic.

Paul: My vision has turned completely dark... I can't breathe... can't talk either... am I dying?

Btw the one who holds Paul's arms guard is zenith and not Rudeus bcs Rudeus rn doesn't have his heracles (his left hand)
The fact his arm is named Hercules is an amazing detail done by the author!
There was actually still one really mild spoiler if you look close enough. That'll be on the next episode.
Now since I've watched the next episode, I'll need to go back and check to see if I can find it!
It's strange to think that Rudeus was very happy there. He had the chance to go through suffering and depression, to be so weak at this point in the anime. Being very satisfied with his current power. About the episode, I like to think about what I could do better, to have more impact, I had the idea of putting a quick flashback when he saw Paul, of the moments Rudeus spent with him, the good and the bad, like in the bar fight
For me, there are 3 moments in Mushoku's work, which offer a shock similar to Paul's level. They haven't arrived yet, the second moment is not that far away and I would say it is a turning point. Paul's death at the time really shook me, he was the one who made so many efforts to help people, sacrificing their happiness, to achieve this...
It appears season 3 will be the season all the MT fanbase will be waiting for.
For me Paul was written in such a way that he was a major impact in the story, even though he wasn't in very many episodes (considering). He was a flawed man, who worked to atone for his past actions or fix them in a way where he believed it was a better course of action.
The Spoilers awere not so bad on the OP because without context, most of the things are actually quite hidden.
Why no one point out only rudy is in child state when with Zenith
That's actually hinting Zenith's current state (after she gets rescued out). Because Zenith doesn't interact with Rudy in his adult state.
Next week will probably cause fans to have torn feelings of what's about to happen. Looking forward to your predictions and if you'll have one or two thoughts that'd be close to next episode's events. I guess this comment of mine would be like a hint though.

Yeah, I think it'd be a good warning for anime-only to always skip MT openings moving forward in the future seasons.
they went all out this season, even several trailers and PV's had a lot of spoilers.
It's one that gives away the entire cour 2 plot, but also says, look at how beautiful and how well animated this opening is!

Its only spoilery if you watched the series already. For oyu its easy to find out spoilers in hindsight after watching the season. Anime onlies would get much from it, really
Rudy fighting a giant monster at the same party with Roxy and Paul... it seems to me that you don't have to be very avid to know the big spoiler it represents before TP3 ep. Not to mention pregnant Sylphie
After everything we saw there is no reason to not watch the intro
