I remember enjoying this one much more than Long Halloween. Yet, for some reason, this one is still living in the shadow of the former though DC's eyes it seems.
its probably cause more movies have taken inspiration from long halloween and its hence is more famous within the community. i'd say dark victory is better tho
@@migueldiaz248 I've always said Long Halloween is my favorite but when it comes to Long Halloween and Dark Victory, I've always thought of them as true companion pieces and thoroughly enjoyed both for sure.
I got this with the thought that it included both "The Long Halloween" and "Dark Victory" so when it arrived I was a bit disappointed, guess i'm also at fault though for not realizing.
I keep waiting for that one, probably in my top 5 most wanted DC HCs. Would make a decent omnibus if they'd throw in his Red Hood appearances in Green Arrow, Winick's RH 3-parter in Batman & Robin and the RH: Lost Days mini.
What's up Omar? Hope you're doing well! I haven't read Dark Victory but The Long Halloween is one of my favorite comics! Thanks for breaking this one done, might have to pick it up!
I love both books but I truly believe that dark victory is the better story and hugely underrated, barely anyone talks bout it online but when I first read it I was blown away.
I love this book, but I don't like how they branded it as Long Halloween. It's an awkward title and makes it look weird on my shelf next to my actual Long Halloween Deluxe Edition.
@@boombapdoom493 Actually, it's Batman: The Long Halloween: Catwoman: When in Rome: Deluxe Edition. That's not a joke, either. It's a real title for a real book.
I bought this thinking it was Long Halloween and after I got done reading it I went to buy Dark Victory and was so confused till I realized that this is Dark Victory 😐
I get that the title is a little goofy, but I believe doing it this way and branding it as a long Halloween saga, will ensure more people will experience dark victory. It's a fantastic sequel that deserves more attention. The past collections minus the omnibus, never bothered to link the stories so more clueless readers (or at least younger/newer readers of batman) might not know of the sequel. Also, the design of this collection is beautiful.
Hey! I love your channel and content. In fact I'm using your Batman recommending order and I'm enjoying it's lot! I wanted to ask you a favor, can you do a series or video of comics recommended for children's? I have an 8 years old daughter and would love to make her read wonder woman (I only read DC) but I'm not sure where to start with her. Thank you so much men!
@@NearMintCondition hey men! just wanted to thank your recommendation. You recommended me to read with her tiny titans in your last live video and she loved it so much I bought 4 books already. I've never seen her so interested in reading before. Thank you so much!
So will the next volume be called 'Batman: The Long Halloween Deluxe Edition of The Sequel Dark Victory the Deluxe edition of The sequel Catwoman: when in Rome'? Omar Is there anything in these deluxe editions that isn't in the Omnibus? other than extra's? I have neither at the moment, I prefer Deluxe editions to Omni's but from what I understand 'Haunted knight isn't getting it's own deluxe edition, if it was them I'd happily get the 4 deluxe editions. So which one should I go far?
I haven’t heard about Haunted Knight but when in Rome is due out in a couple of Months. Nothing really added in these that the absolutes didn’t have. But a few more extras than the omni
When reading this in the omnibus, i found myself mostly trying to "hurry up" fast forward to the Dick issues. Definitely gonna give it another read to give it a fair shot
Title sounds like it's some duology, trilogy and main title of series is Long Helloween which is written with bigger size letters to point it up as more important. "Dark Victory" don't belong to title LH and it's printed with minor letters as "less important title". It is separate story.
This feels like such a confusing and bad title for the book, as I could easily see someone unfamiliar with comics or Batman thinking it's both stories together.
Completely agree with you on the artwork topic Omar! While reading The Long Halloween initially I didn’t like Tim Sale’s artwork and especially the way he drew Selina Kyle, but in Dark Victory his artwork felt much better than the previous one. I have the Omnibus and maybe these deluxe editions will have more extras but that’s okay the page quality in Omnibus will be better than this Deluxe Edition I think.
I'm sure the title change is a branding thing. Long Halloween is more recognizable, there was the movie recently, marketing people probably thought it would lead to more sales, etc. I get, but also I hate it and it's stupid. But anyway, fantastic story!
My copy of the long Halloween deluxe edition started peeling on all the glossy parts so my copy looks terrible now. Retail here in Canada is $65 for deluxes, I'm thinking of not buying deluxe editions anymore.
Pretty disappointing. almost no Robin at all even though hes on the cover and while Two Face had a good whurl, this being 90% about Porter and Gigante was kinda cringe. Long Halloween was miles better, it had a fantastic dynamic while reading Dark Victory felt like work. Also, what really pisses me off is that Holiday is not a part of this anymore. Talk about ignoring lose ends.

I will never cease to be baffled by how they titled this volume.
With DC’s penchant for pumping out Batman books, I’m surprised they’ve never put out an Under the Red Hood Deluxe Edition.
I’d love to see that! Actually I want Judd Winick’s entire Batman run collected as an omnibus.

could not agree with you more, Dark victory blew me away
I've just recently invested in the omnibus. They're an awesome collection of stories 👍
I need to finish off dark victory after starting it a few months back. Looks like a nicebook but sticking with my Absolute edition.
I was waiting for this. I actually was searching if you had a video of this yesterday. Idk why they changed the title all long but oh well
Loving the no dust jacket
Same. I Don't get the dust jackets anyway
@@mrgilamonyet they’re for dust…
@@boombapdoom493 then they dont work 😅
whoever decided the title on the cover should be fired immediately, what a stupidly misleading title.
After seeing this video I'm definitely buying this book, I had read the long Halloween but not what came after it

Same😊

I hate the new naming system. Year one, Long Halloween, Dark Victory, When In Rome, are all separate title names.

Everytime I read Dark Victory, I always find it more entertaining than Long Halloween, however Long Halloween is the true classic
thanks omar!
great review, what about the paper quality, is it the same thin glossy paper used in the long halloween deluxe edition?
I thought this edition would include both the long halloween and dark victory but seems like it's not the case.
batman really going a lot on omnibus books👍

Now hopefully they'll give us, Batman: The Long Halloween, The Prequel - Haunted Knight 😅
Please don't give DC any ideas. 🤣🤣
Tempted to pick up the singles for this and long Halloween. What are the differences in extras for these and the Omni?
Yes😊😊😊
Will you be doing a video on Batman: Caped Crusader Vol 6?
So what was the "Batman: Dark Victory (New Edition)" that was listed as being in the contents? A typo? Extras?
Nothing really. I think they took the extras from the Absolute and labeled it Dark Victory New Edition.
I thought the sequel one shot that was released a few months ago would be included. It takes place right after Dark Victory.
What is your preference? The old Dark Victory style book or the new upgraded book with the odd LH title attached to it?
Are they releasing a haunted knight deluxe?
I hope so. I love this line of deluxe edition!
