Great Tour! I know for a fact that they still do a few overhauls upon request but mostly they have been building Genset switchers from old GP frames...
Hey I was wondering how you were allowed permission into this NRE facility? Me and my friends saw the No Trespassing signs on the gates but they were open. We just didn't wanna invite ourselves in. How would you be able to get in legally if I may ask?
Just curious...I have asked around on a few videos like this, but still no response from anyone. My question is, every once in a while in these types of videos I see what looks to be a locomotive with no cab. It is generally coupled to one that has a cab. Are those in fact locos? If so, are they in fact controlled by the locos with cabs? Any answers are appreciated. Great video by the way!
Yes, they are locomotives known as "B" units. They are coupled to a loco with a cab and that loco controls them. They operate like any other loco with the exception of not having a cab.
Thank you for posting this. It's very helpful for those of us modeling diesel shed facilities.
The 1273 that he was passing is a former UP SW-10 rebuild from the Union Pacific. Very nice to see them still around.

Though if they don't have a motor in them then they are "slugs" and require another loco to supply power to it.
Yeah I do. I know whats arriving/departing there from Yahoo groups.
