First I heard of the DC Talk version of this song -- well done. I still like Norman Greenbaum's version best, but DC did the song justice with their remake.
Charles Dasaro Greenbaum, of Jewish descent, was inspired to write this by a momentary gospel music bug. Another version that gets it biblically correct is The Kentucky Headhunters. The creepiest (and best of the many covers) is that of Bauhaus.
That's an AWESOME testimonty!! Having a relationship with the Almighty Lord is the BEST THING in the world. I, too, had made a mess out of my life.. on the verge of alcoholism, sexually impure, partying/clubbing on weekends, disrepecting my parents, always arguing with people.. I asked God one day to please help me change my life. I didn't like my life anymore. I HATED my life. I said an honest prayer and Jesus embraced me. It was soooo great! I have not been the same since.
Ask and ye shall receive! I asked Jesus to show me my pride and dishonesty, and He did. Then I asked Him to remove it. Then when I was able to be for real with myself and Him, I asked Him to show me my sin. Then I asked to wash my sin away with His blood. Then I asked Jesus to show me the fears, doubts and scars I had in my heart. Then I asked Jesus to take it away. I could not do any of this myself, I had to ASK HIM to do it. He did. And then HE ASKED ME to tell others what He did for me.
Is. 42:16 "And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them."
Great rendition! I love the bridge. However, I wish they would have stayed (musically) a little bit closer to Norman Greenbaum's original score. Having said that I am glad they corrected the lyrics in the 3rd verse to be biblically accurate!
I heard how Jesus changed other people's lives and I wanted it too.I was a lying stealing cheating arrogant sexually immoral drug-addicted jerk.I knew I was bad and wanted to be good.I asked Jesus to take control of my life;I had made a mess of it.He came and purified my thought-life and heart.I believe the Son of God died for my sins and rose again. Understanding His love I trust Him and give Him control of my life. He transformed me into a new person.Never knew joy like this was possible.
@rachelpinkrox Yes you can convert it on any computer. 1 download realplayer install it. their are many videos on how to use it. 2 download freemake video converter , install it . both are free and simple to use . once both are installed just go the video you want on youtube and it should say "download to realplayer" above the video, click it. if it doesn't just right click on it and at the very bottom it will say download click it. after its done, the video should appear in your docs.

Wrong. The Crazy Spirit is Lucifer aka Satan. They were high on the Spirit of Demons and LSD. This Spirit is of the Holy Spirit because we have to confess that we are sinners to Jesus Christ.

I've never understood Greenbaum's statement "I've never been a sinner, I've never sinned." to mean that he is literally saying he never sinned, because in the next line, he says "I've got a friend in Jesus!" So basically, he's saying that because of Jesus' sacrifice it is AS THOUGH he had never sinned, since that sacrifice paid the price of his sins, giving him a clean standing before God.

Interesting take: someone suggested he was actually mocking Christians for being self-righteous; I like your take better, which fits with the Apostle Paul's use of the past tense in "while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." We WERE sinners ... Christ died ... we're not sinners anymore. I also like the way DCTalk got around that by changing the lyric to "You know that I'm a sinner - we all sin - but I got a friend in Jesus ..." I really dig both versions.

I am a christian and i do not believe that just because it is a christian song it has to suck.So many christians are so disconnected with their judgemental views.I believe we are told to judge not. ....................

Delayne actually according to scriptures that's completely incorrect! it's our duty as Christians to judge ourselves first to keep our selves (who have accepted Christ, accept salvation) separate from the wicked. BUT, unless you FAITHFULLY PRACTICE, scripture not just let it be lip service how can you tell who is wicked, or Christian, from an everyday john or jane doe?!? you can't
