What does the dude say at the very beginning of this video? I’ve looked up lyrics and I can’t find it. My guess is it’s a clip from some old show or movie. Does anyone know?
Not me. I know love from caring about other people and other people caring about me. Religion showed me everything but love. That said it's nice to nostalgia on the christian music stations every once in a while on road trips.
optionaxis you need to watch a video by Jefferson Bethke. It's called why I hate religion. It might help you see the difference between love of God and religion. I don't believe in religion but I do believe in lifestyles. If you truly believe in God you will live it by loving him and all around you. Religion is for fanatics and gives them a cover for their violence and ways to spread terror every group including Christianity has their fair share of fanatics but we can't let that dictate how we live or who we believe in
@@jonathanallen9607 I totally agree with this. Every group (Muslims, environmentalists, Christians, etc.) has its own group of people who seem to take things a little (or a lot) too far. But I don't think that we can blame the core ideas of their belief system for that. After all, even people coming from the same worldview we come from will have some extreme differences from us in a lot of major ways. What we have to do is examine their behaviour and what they claim to believe, and see from that whether they can be used to accurately depict or represent the entirety of all the people from that worldview. Most likely, they won't be fit to represent all of the variation and all of the degrees of beliefs. However, we do have to watch out. People who do extreme things in the name of religion (or science, or whatever) are still out there, whether or not they are good gauges of a certain worldview. So, as sucky as it may be, we kind of have to watch out still for those people. I'm sad that you have had such experiences in the past, and I wish that there were something that I could do to stop these things from happening. But I really hope that you (optionaxis) can at least (for now) accept my apology on the behalf of any religious person who may have hurt or offended you in the past. I agree that such things should never have to happen, especially at the hands or words of someone who is trusted to be in a position of representing their culture or worldview and is supposed to be showing love (which is, after all, supposed to be the heart of the Chriatian worldview). I hope you can find healing and forgiveness, and that you find yourself well. Thanks.
Disagree, love is a noun, not a verb. It's about being loved and being love not about doing... God is Love. He is not just one who loves, He is love Himself. And the love of God is not in that we loved Him, but in that He loved us first... we love Him only because He first loved us. The love is substance and the person of who He is.
LOL, love is not religion or obligation or bunch of good works... I'm sorry, but this is not the Gospel Message.. it is dead dualistic greek mindset concept... has nothing to do with God, christianity, Gospel Message. It taped into christianity, but it is pagan idea to the very core. You can disagree, but I don't believe in religion and zombie thing where people try to pump up the love, instead of realizing the truth and living it out, loving effortlessly.
+Ilmar Meldre "I love you". I is the noun, love is the verb. "I am love". Love is still a verb in that context, so no. It is a verb either way. Even with "God is love" love is still a verb. It is a state of being verb.
+Ilmar Meldre Actually, love is both a noun and a verb. Love is the subject of that sentence and this one, making it a noun. So, we're both right. It can also be an adjective.
No. Love is substance and being and nature. At first place.... And the verb is love manifesting itself. Otherwise you make God something that "He is doing", rather than He who He is being. He didn't say "I do", he said "I AM". There's big reason WHY. And that's the common mistake in the evangelicalism, we don't understand the nature and substance of God, His character and essence... We rather prefer what He is doing than who He is. It can be an adjective or verb... but DC Talk is Gospel singing group. Telling someone that love is a verb is to diminish Gospel power. We focus "on works" and outflows and things that are following, rather than focusing on the substance... Which is Christ. God is Love. He is not what He is doing. He is who He is at first. And then in His being He manifests and reveals in Christ to us Himself. Because if we focus too much "on verbs" we end up with man-made religion business of works... So many christians "try to love", they force themselves to love God and people.. that is so stupid! This is because we are wrongly taught and we haven't meditated on the writings of Apostle John and Paul thoroughly. Love is not willpower... nor is it law-keeping, following bunch of rules and regulations, trying to overcome yourself to force yourself love God and people and yourself. That's wrong. Love, it's not just emotionless doing like a robat. That Greek philosophical Platonic mindset doesn't work here in Christian Era.

optionaxis you need to watch a video by Jefferson Bethke.
Thanks.
thats awesome!
+Ilmar Meldre no
LOL, love is not religion or obligation or bunch of good works...
