Driving into work, 5am. Dark, I'm alone. I feel lost, I ask God in a prayer, please let me know that you're still with me, that I'm heading in the right direction. A message, a sign, anything..... I said Amen and when raised the volume in the radio, this song came on. I was moved beyond measure.

@genehockenberry5194 I’m so sorry, it hurts severely. My wife of 22 years just died Monday 11/20/23 from stage neuroendocrine carcinoma. It spread to the pancreas, liver, spine and lungs. I’m heartbroken and this song helps.
I'm sorry for your loss. My mum had this played at her funeral with a photo montage, when she told my brother she wanted this song he was mortified but she got her way in the end. Since the funeral all me and him have been hearing is this song x
I will NEVER forget this song. I pulled up to the nursing home to see my Mom and this song came on. My Mom passed away that same day. 🙏💖✌ I love and miss you Mom. R.I.P.
WOW1. That’s amazing. Did you have the chance to tell your mom? God was talking to you, preparing you and reminding you that she was going to glory. I’m sorry for your loss. I had an amazing miracle when my dad passed that is a treasure that has stayed with me almost 40 years now. The memory didn’t dim, but is stronger than ever. I look forward to seeing my dad again
Love this song and Jesus Christ.... Can live so many days without food,,so many without water,,,BUT can't live a day without Jesus,,,he is the way,,the ONLY way❤
I was struggling with some questions, with my faith, and with the demons in my head (I have a disease which causes voices in my head), and I put my headphones on, listened to the the guardians of the galaxy soundtrack, and this popped out, praise the Lord! This was a blessing, cheered me up and allowed everything to make sense again after reading the Bible.
@@sandrafunny957 man varies very little fundamentally. The main controversies today can be boiled down to pleasure.. and selfishness vs selflessness. Life is easier and more pleasant when people are giving rather than just...ravenous. Worth giving up a few things to keep a pure and wholesome world.
my brother passed away two weds ago, from kidney failure and congestive heart failure. today was the last day for his service. my eyes are swollen from crying these past several days, so it's uplifting to hear this song and to remember to not just mourn his passing, but to celebrate the life he did live, and be thankful he is no longer in pain. i still miss him terribly, and im trying to find comfort that hes in a much better place now. thank you for making this available. peace and prayers, everyone. 👍🏽
So Sorry for your loss. I understand where you are coming from. I also have lost 2 of my Brothers (younger) its still hard as 1 passed in 2005 an the other in 2020. I often have to go to my music just to cope. It's still hard everyday.
I have a twin , and I know ultimately one day one of us will go, the other will be left changed, don't cry since they are gone, enjoy the time you spent together, and love the people you care about more, since one day we all return to the maker
My brother passed away in ‘92. I’m still drying my eyes over his loss. Be strong brother. Remember, there are people in this thread who never had a brother. You and I my have lost ours, but at least there was a time when we had them here with us.
I was 15 when this song was released, and on holiday in Devon in England's West Country with my parents. We were staying in a farmhouse, and the owners daughter, who was about my age, invited me to a local disco with some of her friends. 54 years later I can still hear 'Spirit in the Sky' booming out. We had our lives in front of us, thought we were invincible and the future looked bright. Having been on life's roller coaster, and experienced some lovely ups and painful downs, I'm on the final leg of the journey. Songs like this can open portals to memories long forgotten. Try and enjoy every day, folks. Life goes by in the blink of an eye!
Love your comment, but I still think you are a youngster. I still wonder if I was in fact invincible then. It seems though that somewhere I quit thinking I was and now I’m not. Makes me wonder.
My mom loved this song and she's just passed away in my arms on Saturday from a severe stroke and she will forever loved and missed. i love you mom and this song will always remind of you, please everyone please pray for me and my family we are in mourning and losing her is the toughest things i will have to go through in my entire life. Rip Mom 12/15/58-09/30/23
I'm so sorry for your loss. I missed my mother too, terribly. I will pray that God give you and your family strength, comfort and peace. You are loved. 🙏❤️
So very sorry for your loss. I lost my mom Jan 21 , 2021 , she would have been 93 on April 12, 2021, I miss her a lot .. I truly feel everyone’s losses ..😢
God give you the strength to go through it this is the biggest loss some one can have when I even think about losing my mom it scares the shit putta me , she will always be with you ❤
@@thecasualrider2668your absolutely right I'm in hella pain and the pain of losing a parent especially your mother is unbearable to take I can't stop thinking and crying about her and I been crying so much it hurts to cry and even wipe the tears away from my eyes but that won't stop me from the pain of thinking about her. Man I remember when I was young kid I would tell my mom and dad crying and hugging them tons of times saying I love you and don't want to lose you both because I understood what death was at a very early age. I always told my mom and dad I loved them daily and it never stopped and I had mom's in my life the whole time and she would help me out with my epilepsy and when I had seizures she saved my life many times when going through violent seizures and the last time was in July. My mom's heard me fall over upstairs in my room and she knew to call 911 and came up and was doing CPR on me from not breathing and my face was in the carpet while my body is violently shaking from the seizures and when I came to three days later from a short coma the drs told me if my mom's didn't hear me fall over I would have passed away cause I had 9 violent seizures and they had to revive me in the hospital. Thank God for her in my life and back in April is when I found my mom unconscious on her bed with foaming out her mouth I called 911asap and saved her life then from her first stroke and she was hospitalized for a month. When mom's came home I took care of her and after a month or two her health was getting better but had to use a oxygen tank to breathe better. I thank God he let me have 5 more months with her before she passed away and I done everything I could to save her when finding my mom slumped over on her bed and thick dark blood coming out her mouth and nose, I grabbed the phone called 911 and I was doing CPR on her shaking her screaming my loudest to do anything to get her to wake up. The pandemics came quickly and took over and done everything they could to revive her and watching that happen in front of me was so painful to witness that I haven't been able to get any sleep or even eat much and I can't take myself downstairs it's too painful to be in the same room where your mom's just passed away at. My mom's was a great woman and mother and she helped others in need with food clothes shoes whatever she could and that took to us her kids that we do the same thing like she done and I helped a lot of people make sure the families in need that their kids had Xmas presents, new bikes, skateboards, new clothes, shoes, backpacks and school equipment and I thank her for giving me that because it feels great to help others in need and truly it's better to give than receive. My mom helped my dad 24/7 when he had throat cancer and she barely slept she wanted to make sure that my dad was tested with care because she had to clean out his trek about once every hour or two and he was going through chemotherapy so his health was going downhill from that. She helped him beat cancer and if my mom's wasn't their like she was he wouldn't had survived cancer not even with those house care nurse they try to hire for home care. but my dad passed away from his third heart attack and I seen the paramedics do everything they can to save his life with no success and it's hella painful knowing that I seen both parents pass away the same way with paramedics doing all they can to save them. They both will be forever missed and pops was a great man also, he was a Korean war veteran and he loved all his family and pops had me at 53 years old and mom's was 25 lol. Love ain't nothing but a number that's true and they loved each other very much and that's why I will always hold high respect for both of them especially mom's and she always helped me with my son and daughter with taking them to school, feeding them, reading to them the Bible, taking them to the park and so on. Sorry for writing so much it's just I'm in deep pain of losing her and just needed someone to listen to what I'm going through and back on Jan 16th I lost my best friend Stephen lofton he took his life in jail and he was a great friend always their for me. when I lost my brother to suicide in 96 he was their and when we were 15 our friend Michael Martinez his mom killed her gf, him and then herself and a year after that his older sister Sabrina took her life from the pain. I lost many people in my life from suicide, murder, cancer, and other health reasons I'm just glad to be here another day for my kids and if they weren't here in my life I would probably have taken my life by now from the pain of my mom's, just please keep me in your thoughts and prayers that's all I ask for from anyone who listens and thank you and God bless for your kind words I truly take it to heart. Mom's 12/15/58-09/30/23 pops 03/02/31-10/01/05
Oh my mama, this makes me smile but hurts so very bad. I don’t want to do this life without you. It’s been 2 weeks and it feels like a whole other lifetime I’ll play it for you mama, I’ll play it loud while we dance!
My dad just passed away suddenly from a heart attack. He was only 53 but this song makes me feel better as he was a believer in god and he’s with him now
I am 66 and have listened to this song for many years. Only now do I understand the lyrics. I am requesting this be played when I go. Nobody will be there but ....
For those who don’t know this was a Vietnam War anthem. Came out in 1969. Huge hit!!! On Rolling Stone’s top 500. We felt for the soldiers of course and that stupid war but this was a positive song that even in the face of the worst you could think of the best. It’s SPIRITual.
@@TheBrotherdarkness9 Not inspired by Gospel. Inspired by the Almighty Dollar! Norman Greenbaum is Jewish, but instead of using a Jewish word for God, he used "Jesus" because he thought it would be more marketable. I think he was right.
Vietnam tragedy, more died from friendly fire than vietcon. It was weird, maybe on purpose. Officers didn't inform the location of posted troops to the incoming which caused them to kill & mame their own side.
MY MOTHER DIED AT 47 IN 1962. I WAS 15 YEARS OLD. SHE HAD A BRAIN TUMOR. THANK GOD JESUS ENTERED INTO MY LIFE. I WILL BE WITH MY FAMILY ONE DAY. WE WILL LIVE IN A BRAND NEW WORLD WITHOUT SICKNESS AND DEATH. NO PAIN NO WARS ONLY PEACE AND LOVE FOR ALL MANKIND. HALLELUJAH TO THE LAMB OF GOD. AMEN.
Yes!! Beautifully expressed the Truth and Love of Christ. I am the Truth the way and the Life nobody comes to the Father except through me-Jesus See you in the clouds ☁️ my Friend. In His Love for all eternity ❤️ But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9

It’s May 17, 2024 and I love this classic song ❤️ I’ll be 72 years old on June 20! I still enjoy these “old” endearing classics. I will be going up to the spirit in the sky someday. Thank You Norman Greenbaum❤️
It’s May 21, 2024 and I love this song. Just turned 16 years old. I still have a lot of time before I live with the Spirit in the sky, God willing. This is a good song.
My father wasn't religious and raised me not to be either, but he loved this song. No matter what, even from a secular sense, our spirit is gonna assimilate somewhere. I hope whatever you believe in we'll all have a good time.
@@Jawesome1Shazam believe in Jesus Christ our savior,For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that who shall beliefith in me should not perish but have everlasting life
Yep you got it. Its the syncapated rythm like "double-time" or something and that gut-gurgling rasp. I guess you have to be old enough, it's a 70's thing! Its a shoulder grabber for sure. Did I just write that? Holy moly. 😅😊
My father did two tours in Vietnam. He passed away in his sleep 7 years ago. He was 100% disabled by the VA from Agent Orange. I grew up listening to this music. This was his favorite song and we played it at his funeral. He was an awesome dad. Being raised by a Vietnam vet was a unique experience. I miss him so much.
From Australia I have a friend Greg who is also a Vietnam Vet Tunnel Rat.....also affected by Agent Orange...so sorry for the loss of your dad 7 years.....which was 7 years less suffering for him.....my friend struggles every day Bless you
My coworker just passed away in his sleep yesterday morning this was his song he told me to listen to I didn’t get it till now 😔 🕊️ Dave Grothe love you brotha💯
I sent this song and the same request to my family just today. I want it played loud as I am carried out. I hope everyone smokes and dances out of the service with me.
Peter, that's the name of one of Jesus decifels. the ONLY way to heaven is through Jesus. give your heart to him and live forever in heaven with him and us. GOD Bless you.🙏🙏🙏🙏☝
Played this at the end of my uncle’s funeral service. And honestly, with him being a rocker, not only was it a nice way to help us feel a bit better, I feel that this song was his way of comforting us, thanking us, and reassuring us that he’ll be alright! Also, I have no doubt that he was (and still is) rocking out to this song as our own Spirit in the Sky, alongside *the* Spirit in the Sky! Keep on rocking, dude! Love you so much!💖🎸
This song gives me comfort. I too will have this played. But I have asked my pastor to clarify that I have sinned just like the rest of the population. I bought the disc and also the one that is " Come on Eileen. No mourning at my funeral. Clapping, dancing and laughter sending me off to my best journey!
Funny thing about this song... I've always loved this song. Sang along with it and knew all the words! I still know all the words! However, at the time that this song was released, I was in a "stage of my life" that did NOT include ANY "Man-Made religious organization" or "GOD" or "JESUS" in my life. I considered myself to be an atheist. But I liked this song and sang this song anyway! But as I grew older and much WISER... I began to realize that it was never meant for human beings to "know everything!" And it was never meant for human beings to be "perfect, sinless, holy, OR righteous!" When GOD created mankind, HE KNEW that HE was NOT creating "perfect, sinless, holy, & righteous people, because HE gave us "Freedom of Choice" so that we can "choose" for ourselves what WE want to make of our own lives. NO, WE ALL were "born into a sinful nature!" And NO ONE, NOT a single soul is "perfect, sinless, holy, OR righteous" other than JESUS! NOT EVEN ONE! Which means that "the holy Roman catholic pope" is NOT as "holy" as some people think he is. And neither is ANY other "rabbi, priest, preacher, minister, pastor, clergy member" OR ANYONE ELSE! And after I had made such a MESS of my life (by doing everything "MY" way instead of the "RIGHT" WAY) and I realized my need for Help, I turned to JESUS. And JESUS instantly forgave me of ALL of my former sins and came into my life and began working HIS LOVE into my heart! And one of the FIRST things that JESUS taught me, is that: "HE wants me to FOLLOW HIM and HIM ALONE!" HE absolutely does NOT want me to 'be religious!' HE absolutely does NOT want me to "follow ANY Man-Made religious organization!" And HE especially does NOT want me to "Follow" even one of the "thousands of versions" of SO-CALLED "christianity!" Also known as "Man-Made religious organizations!" HE wants me to "FOLLOW HIM" and HIM ALONE! HE wants me to FOLLOW HIS EXAMPLES! HE wants me to treat other people the way the HE treated other people! HE wants me to LOVE ALL people, just like HE LOVES ALL people! HE wants me to Forgive ALL people just like HE will Forgive ALL people who ask! That's why HE said: "Do to others as you WANT them to do to you" and "LOVE one another as I have LOVED YOU!" I do NOT "follow ANY Man-Made religious cult!" But I DO FOLLOW MY SAVIOR! And when (not if) I stumble or fall, I KNOW that I am forgiven! The only line in the entire song that I STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH is the first line of the last verse. "Never been a sinner, I never sinned!" YEAH, that's NOT ME! And truthfully, it's NOT anyone else either! I was definitely "a sinner" and I've "sinned" A LOT in my life. Although, I don't "sin" as much as I used to because I am trying my absolute BEST to FOLLOW MY SAVIOR! And because I'm FOLLOWING JESUS EXAMPLES, I don't sin as much as I used to, and the only time I do "sin" is when I STRAY from following HIM! And WHEN I do "sin" I am Confident that the blood of MY SAVIOR will cleanse me of that "sin!" So that "When I die, and they lay me to REST, I'm gonna go to the place that's BEST!" As SOON as JESUS returns in the "clouds of Glory" and CALLS ME from my REST and raises my body from the ashes and takes me to the Place that's BEST! But until then, I will "REST" from my earthly labors! I will SLEEP PEACEFULLY, with NO more pain, NO more sorrow, NO more tears, and NO more concerns! "So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. (1 Cor. 15:42-44) "Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed- in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory. “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor. 15:51-57)
When I arrived to the funeral of the early life of my mom, this song was on. I was the 1st and only person in parking lot. Shoot, I got out and started worshipping God and celebrating her new life with JESUS CHRIST. amen
I heard this song on the radio as I drove to the funeral home for my 92-year-old Mother's service. When I heard it, I knew Mom was in heaven. No need to worry.
I was an official hippie growing up and was at the original Woodstock and been fighting bladder cancer (very aggressive) for 3 years now and everyone knows I want this song blasted all over social media when I pass away

Oh My God. I just went thru this with my wife as well. 45 years together and I played this song for her on hospice and she died 10 minutes later. So sorry for your loss😢
I'm so sorry to hear this. My prayers go out to you and your family. This song is so healing and when you play it sing, dance and rejoice in the fact that he is in a better place and picture him smiling, singing and dancing with you. God bless you and keep you 🙏
My friend passed from cancer a few yrs ago. She had picked out her music. She chose this song to be played as we were leaving the church after her memorial. ❤
My friend put this song on a shared playlist. The first time I heard it was as I was leaving my grandfather’s funeral, really helped me get through it.
My father has mentioned many a time how he wants this song played at his funeral. It holds many memories of his time in the Army and it holds many memories for me of my childhood with him cruising. After he passes on to the next life, it’s gonna be hard to listen to it. I love you dad ❤
Thinking of my mother in law today. She passed from cancer over a year ago. She was a strong woman of God. She loved Jesus. I know exactly where she is right now and that brings me peace. Rest easy with that spirit in the sky Mary ❤️
10 years ago today listened to this song as we were paying our final respects to my Aunt. I remember dancing around her house with her listening to this. I love and miss you Deeta.😢
This song has nothing to do with the evil you involve yourself in. If you don’t repent you’ll go to Satan in Hell tucked in a lovely hand basket. Jesus is the only way to Heaven. Without him there is no Salvation
Maybe so ,maybe we will never know. Although as the priest said to the atheist, if your right we've both lost nothing, if I'm right you have lost everything
Loved this song for years!! The words are awesome and meaningful. I'm almost 72 years young, even though I'm not having a funeral so to speak, "When I die would love my family to play and listen to "Spirit In The Sky!"
I am 73 and I love Whom this little ditty is about. "Never been a sinner...I never sinned": most don't know the significance of the state he is describing. In the Spirit, a member of the body of Jesus Christ cannot and is not a sinner. Sing it, Norman! Glory to God in the highest! At my age, I am living on borrowed time and drawing nearer to my God, on the Good Ship Jesus. It is a win/win blessing.
My dad told me he wanted this played at his funeral one time. I don’t know why, but it always stuck with me and it’s the first thing that comes to mind whenever i hear this song. Needless to say, i’m glad i haven’t had to hear this there yet.
We need that rebellious Jew now. Temples are infested with merchants, and money changers are bleeding us dry. Love thy neighbor and play this loud so he can hear it, too.
Live in the moment and do your own self discovery. No one else can take you there, there being your inner self.😳 Wow!! Best journey I took.😊💯♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
@@lisamwood3 It should have said; "I've always been a sinner But I've been washed Washed in the blood of Jesus So I know that when I die I'm going to resurrect with the Spirit in the sky."
My uncle (who was the rock of the family) he loved this song and played this two days before he suffered a stroke. So if you were at community hospital downtown Fresno California and you heard someone blare this on a speaker. That was me! My uncle wanted a proper send off. He was a Air Force man during the war in the 60s. It’s just crazy that he was playing it just two days before he had a stroke… bone chilling.
My grandpa is having this played at his funeral today. He has had plans forever to have it played at his funeral. He was a great man. He isn’t hurting anymore.
Hello 👋 Roxann. How are you doing? Hope you are fine, I'm Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where you are from? You seem like a real country girl
Yes, they certainly seemed so. I was a kid then and what did I know about the world, I was safe, and loved, a home and plenty of food. I was out on the prairies of Saskatchewan. I didn’t have many things to entertain me. I drew and made up stories, learned crafts and the radio only played when my dad was home. It was a simple life but so peaceful. Sometimes I heard coyotes howl at a train during the night.
My brother passed at 31 and he requested this song for his funeral...one of the best songs ever...and now it's easy to think of him as a spirit in the sky
My mother used to play this when I was a little girl she sure did she used to play this when I was a little girl my mother had all the albums and I remember her playlist when I was a little girl I used to love the song because she taught me about Jesus when I was very young and I knew about heaven so every time she would play this I knew what heaven was about and I was just seeing this song 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️❤️

I wish you nothing but hope, happiness, and peace my friend.
Thank you! :) I wish that for you too.
Stay strong. Times are getting crazy. God bless.

my brother passed away two weds ago, from kidney failure and congestive heart failure. today was the last day for his service. my eyes are swollen from crying these past several days, so it's uplifting to hear this song and to remember to not just mourn his passing, but to celebrate the life he did live, and be thankful he is no longer in pain. i still miss him terribly, and im trying to find comfort that hes in a much better place now. thank you for making this available. peace and prayers, everyone.

So sorry for your loss. Sending love and support from NY.
My passed and we played it in the procession. He loved this song, It took me 28 years to enjoy this the way he did… This song rocks Dad
Any tears?😢
A Christian spiritual written and sung by a Jewish guy. Only in America, friends and neighbors, only in America. Great song. One of my favorites.
Yes! And Irving Berlin, also Jewish, wrote White Christmas - very cool! 😊
😂
Does this mean you glorify the American/Israeli genocide in Gaza, so the Jews can steal the land of the murdered Palestinians.
The Jews asked the Romans to kill Jesus. What do you think about that.

Yes indeed, this song is kind of a Instructional Manual...

This is no "War-Anthem". Most inconic "war"-songs are anti war and this one was inspired by Gospel.

Norman Greenbaum is Jewish, but instead of using a Jewish word for God, he used "Jesus" because he thought it would be more marketable. I think he was right.

And one of the FIRST things that JESUS taught me, is that: "HE wants me to FOLLOW HIM and HIM ALONE!"
HE absolutely does NOT want me to 'be religious!' HE absolutely does NOT want me to "follow ANY Man-Made religious organization!" And HE especially does NOT want me to "Follow" even one of the "thousands of versions" of SO-CALLED "christianity!" Also known as "Man-Made religious organizations!"
HE wants me to "FOLLOW HIM" and HIM ALONE! That's why HE said: "Do to others as you WANT them to do to you" and "LOVE one another as I have LOVED YOU!"
I do NOT "follow ANY Man-Made religious cult!" But I DO FOLLOW MY SAVIOR! And when (not if) I stumble or fall, I KNOW that I am forgiven!
The only line in the entire song that I STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH is the first line of the last verse.
"Never been a sinner, I never sinned!"
YEAH, that's NOT ME!
And WHEN I do "sin" I am Confident that the blood of MY SAVIOR will cleanse me of that "sin!" So that "When I die, and they lay me to REST, I'm gonna go to the place that's BEST!"
As SOON as JESUS returns in the "clouds of Glory" and CALLS ME from my REST and raises my body from the ashes and takes me to the Place that's BEST!
(1 Cor. 15:42-44)
"Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed- in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. 15:51-57)

10 years ago today listened to this song as we were paying our final respects to my Aunt. I remember dancing around her house with her listening to this. I love and miss you Deeta.😢
I LOVED THIS as a teenager, what am I now yrs later, a Spiritual Medium - who knew 🤷🏼♀️🙏🏼💗
This song has nothing to do with the evil you involve yourself in. If you don’t repent you’ll go to Satan in Hell tucked in a lovely hand basket. Jesus is the only way to Heaven. Without him there is no Salvation
@@_jms430 Evil. RUBBISH, Jesus is a Spirit. We all have a Spirit within
I was a child of six in 1970. This song was all over the radio back then. Memories of childhood innocence and still a great song.
I was eight in 1970. Great time to be a child. I look at today's world and feel badly for kids today and am thankful that I grew up in great times.
13 year old here. 👋 luckily my parents have great taste in music lol
Affirmative Control a Great Song of its Time.
@@NoOne-bp2jwI was 2X that age in 1970. Truly great times to live in.
@@jayjaynella4539 Yes they were. If I could go back, I would.
God bless you all, this little life aint all that bad but what's waiting is the true party 🎉🎉🎉
There will be nobody at the true party this time now is the true party then the party will be over and after that nothing
Maybe so ,maybe we will never know. Although as the priest said to the atheist, if your right we've both lost nothing, if I'm right you have lost everything
100% the funkiest song about Jesus ever written.
Gotta aman what you said.🙏💪
Thank you Jesus
ZZ Top's "Jesus just left Chicago and he's headed for New Orleans".......Right there also...
THATS THE TRUTH LOL❤
Funny story... this song makes Jesus blush
Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Amen 🙏
Amen 🙏🏻
he was a confessed atheist, like me3. then one day I backed right into Christ and He said "I am" , and ya know...He is
Amen you did the right thing God bless you @@eileenhall6215
Amen 😊🙏🙏🙏✌️
King of Kings Lord of Lords One Love Jesus Christ yesterday today + forever
Loved this song for years!! The words are awesome and meaningful. I'm almost 72 years young, even though I'm not having a funeral so to speak, "When I die would love my family to play and listen to "Spirit In The Sky!"
76 years old here and not feelin' a day over 40 ... rocking' Skynyrd 🤙, livin' life, and havin' fun 😺😺🥳
I so love this song,I thank you from my heart for sharing, blessings to you all abundantly, in Jesus name Amen ❤❤❤😊
Amazing how great our music was then.
"Gotta have a friend in JESUS"!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🙏✝️🙏✝️🙏✝️
My generation, we weren't afraid to sing and talk about Jesus ‼️‼️‼️✝️
I thought it was about Brahman. 🙏
Just kidding. That was “My Sweet Lord” by George Harrison. 🙏
Hate to break it, but jesus was a false prophet fooling billions
Yes im never afraid or ashamed to talk about Jesus Christ our savior love Jesus
We need that rebellious Jew now. Temples are infested with merchants, and money changers are bleeding us dry. Love thy neighbor and play this loud so he can hear it, too.
Live in the moment and do your own self discovery. No one else can take you there, there being your inner self.😳 Wow!! Best journey I took.😊💯♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I just played thus for my aunt sonja Williams passed away yesterday 😢 from cancer what a lady though she will be missed.❤
I'm sorry for your loss. She is free
To have everlasting life you absolutely must trust in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation.
Why does it say, “Never been a sinner, I never sinned”???
@@lisamwood3
It should have said;
"I've always been a sinner
But I've been washed
Washed in the blood of Jesus
So I know that when I die
I'm going to resurrect with the Spirit in the sky."
I’m putting it in my WILL that they *WILL* play this at my funeral!
My son has passed away and this is what he was happy with this song
I'm so very sorry for your loss.
Death is just a passing from the physical plane, To the Spiritual Realm. Trust that YOU have a friend in Jesus👍🏼🙏🏼👍🏼
U hit it man! Everything is recycled. Us included.. very nice 👍👍👍
Yes but some crap goes to landfill
Nice change of lyrics, I've always been a sinner, I've always sinned, but I got a friend in Jesus..
Listen to Dan Vasc's rendition of Amazing Grace. It's beautifully done, I cry everytime I listen to it, it's that good.
Such a cool song. My cousin Richard died last week. Puts a smile on my face❤️for him.
All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
That’s WHY we need Jesus!!
Probably the most mainstream Christian rock ever... And it's a hippy trip video. Amazing. I love it
He’s a Jew!
He isn't Christian, just wrote it because he knew it would sell.
It's a satirical song.....he's taking the mickey.
@@thatgirlridesherpony58 Haaaa...
Interpret it however you like but I dont think he intended it to be Christian
My uncle (who was the rock of the family) he loved this song and played this two days before he suffered a stroke. So if you were at community hospital downtown Fresno California and you heard someone blare this on a speaker. That was me! My uncle wanted a proper send off. He was a Air Force man during the war in the 60s. It’s just crazy that he was playing it just two days before he had a stroke… bone chilling.
Come Jesus come!!! I'm ready to meet him! This is the one right now! ❤️
this was my dad's absolute favorite song and when he died my family knew we had to play this song cause we knew was a true spirt in the sky now
My grandpa is having this played at his funeral today. He has had plans forever to have it played at his funeral. He was a great man. He isn’t hurting anymore.
We played this for my nephew's funeral 22 years ago. It is also on his headstone. I think of him every time this is played! RIP, miss you every day!
Hello 👋 Roxann. How are you doing? Hope you are fine, I'm Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where you are from? You seem like a real country girl
One of the most badass rock n roll songs.

When I die and they lay down to rest! That’s where I am gonna go to the spirit in the sky! You got have a friend in Jesus!
I have to say, The greatest one-hit wonder bar none!
A great song. Reminds me of times that were less complicated.
When was that?
It was pysop back then too
I'm in my 60s but no matter what age this is one bad ass song,,glad you enjoyed it Mr 28yrs old👍you truly have a ear for good music👊
This might be 'TOP-5" best songs to smoke a cigarette to. 5 years off the darts, but I can't deny it's a vibe. I hope whoever is reading this has a great day, and know that you are important to someone even if you don't believe it.
Great, comment just need to put down that cigarette it's a sin. Have a very Blessed Day!
Song is so amazing, plus it kills me too. I lost my twin son Danny this Wednesday 4, 24. His heart give out, he was such a a great person too. Thank you for listening 🙏🕊️🙏🕊️🙏
This song is so good, so deep it makes me cry.
