My dad loved Gladys Knight & the Pips when I was growing up, we played this at his funeral then afterwards we went for food and the same track started playing as we all sat down, pure coincidence but I'm taking it as a sign. A beautiful sign.
No coincidence. Our God is alive, and He loves you, and He loves your Dad. Take comfort from the Comforter. You are not alone, and you were born for such a time as this.
Gladys is the best, trust me when I ask you to to listen to Rainy Night in Georgia by Brook Benton. You will fall in love with this song too, no doubt 💞
Mama T ❤️ I bet she singing and dancing God bless her soul(RIP).....and LIP to you (Live in peace) and have a wonderful New Year stay blessed and highly favoured🙏🏾
Here because I just said goodbye to my almost 17 year old precious dog, George. I would affectionately call him Georgia, so I could serenade him with songs that have Georgia in the lyrics. He was my world. I love you boy.
For those of you young people who do not understand why grown people talk so much about the old school. It's all about the time when that song was out. Some of you may like the sound but some of us have the experiences as well during that time. So don't be surprised if you see a uncle or aunt just waving their hands with their eyes close, just remembering the good ole days.
Amen. This brings back so much more than the memory of this song. And anyone can relate to the lyrics. Then there's the joy of just her pure singing talent. It's wonderful on so many levels.
I’m 21, and I grew up listening to old school, and it brings back so many nice memories with my Aunt that passed back in 2016. It’s sentimental, wayyy better than the music being made now, and just so artistic in the sense you can feel the emotion more so in my opinion, in this sort of music. It’s captured in an authentic and stunning way you can’t help but you smile and listen
I'm 26 and feel like I was born in the wrong era. I love motown and soul music like Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, etc. You don't find that kind of soulful songs these days it's rare.
It does but it's no longer about the words, it's about depth. I mean rap was basically people talking to the beat. But now we have rappers talking about their pain or trying to push genres to their limits. If you need some music to check out I suggest: Thundercat, Denzel Curry, Break bot as some starters.
Well thats one of the reasons it's called soul music...just listen to modern soul music...but its still gonna be hard to match the Empress of Soul. For me the duet of Alicia Keys and John Mayer had soooo much emotion in it...John Mayer sings with such emotion, but its Alicia who kills it in that duet
She’s one of a kind - a gift 🎁 imagine someone like her on the tv show “The Voice” everyone would know it’s different and beautiful. That’s what we need more of. Less karaoke more singing from the heart.
I was born and raised in Iran but my parents are Lebanese and Austrian. Listened to so much soul music and all these decades later now in America, it’s still my favorite
I am absolutely stunned that this song is 45 years old. It is absolutely timeless. Gladys is beautiful and her voice is out of this world. And the Pips choreography can't be beat.
A song that holds a very special place in my heart. When I was a kid and me and my dad would go on long drives together, we would always sing this song together. Me singing gladys knight and my dad singing the pips. He passed away 2 weeks ago and it now makes me cry to hear this song but it will always be a special memory to me 💖
My boyfriend and I used to listen to this song all the time. Wish things had turned out differently. We broke up over a trifle, I eventually married and moved out of town. I read in our little hometown in our little honetown paper he had died. RIP Ricky Bryan , son of the preacher man. The only boy who could ever reach me ..... miss you to this day

@@SuperluminalGus Exactly - simulating the sound of a train AND of weeping simultaneously - absolutely brilliant. Almost hard to believe that this song was originally written and meant to be recorded as "Midnight Plane to Houston."
I used to love watching the various groups perform on the Ed Sullivan show. Gladys Knight and the Pips were one of my favorites. As an adult, I would have dance parties in my living room with my besties. This was ALWAYS one of songs we'd re-enact. I was always The Pips. I know every lyric. I wanted to be smooth like The Pips. Being Caucasian, uncoordinated, and not able to carry a tune never got in the way of having the time of my life. The best of times.

My dad loved Gladys Knight & the Pips when I was growing up, we played this at his funeral then afterwards we went for food and the same track started playing as we all sat down, pure coincidence but I'm taking it as a sign. A beautiful sign.
Amen. So sorry 4 your loss
Definitely a sign I would say !
No coincidence. Our God is alive, and He loves you, and He loves your Dad. Take comfort from the Comforter. You are not alone, and you were born for such a time as this.
Amen....... I don't think it was a coincidence! ❤🙏🤗
Gladys is the best, trust me when I ask you to to listen to Rainy Night in Georgia by Brook Benton. You will fall in love with this song too, no doubt 💞
My grandmother’s fave song... she passed and every time I listen I tell her to sing with me! 😢
Taryn Fonseca omg mines too! 😩
I have no doubt that she does.

Here because I just said goodbye to my almost 17 year old precious dog, George. I would affectionately call him Georgia, so I could serenade him with songs that have Georgia in the lyrics. He was my world. I love you boy.
🌅😇🤝🤝🐕❤️
Love to you darling and your beautiful George. 🧡🧡🕊🕊☮☮🙏🙏😘😘
Tears in my eyes
Let them know Jay Love
Eu aqui ouvindo essa canção maravilhosa 👏😍❤️🇧🇷
I can't think of a single person who doesn't like this song.

God I wish modern singers would have this much depth and passion in their voice as Gladys does in this song. Real music evocaing real emotions.
I agree and that is the reason music from the 60’s and 70’s will never be forgotten.
Yes Real good Today Not so real, to much tattoos!
That's interesting.
Glad to have you enjoying the music 🎶🎵
Interesting and beautiful mix ❤
Brilliant ❤❤❤
I am absolutely stunned that this song is 45 years old. It is absolutely timeless. Gladys is beautiful and her voice is out of this world. And the Pips choreography can't be beat.
And their pre-emptive backing, fantastic, comedic, sarcastic and brilliant.
Ride on.

My mother and I use to listen to this song every Saturday morning and clean the house. She died of cancer. I miss you Birdie!

Such richness from black gospel, the field songs, call and chant, sung with such level of authenticity. Amazing. Always loved Gladys and her Pips.

Written by a white guy, Jim Weatherly, and inspired by a phone conversation with Farrah Fawcett. But yes, this song is great and rich no doubt.

The Pips. Lol
They made the song even more epic
Surely, the ‘on point’ backing vocals are what make this song unsurpassed ...

A diferença do soldado e do drogado
Há muita

“You write midnight train to Georgia, you don’t just sing it once.”~ Harvey Specter
I love the backing vocals on this track. They are an important of the story in song. Such a beautiful arrangement!
Hoo!, Hoo!
@@SuperluminalGus Exactly - simulating the sound of a train AND of weeping simultaneously - absolutely brilliant. Almost hard to believe that this song was originally written and meant to be recorded as "Midnight Plane to Houston."
Amen. the Pips make this song just as much as Gladys.
Just heard this (again) yesterday and could not get it out of my mine. The Pips harmony is masterful, Woo Hoo is right.
out of respect for her voice i sing the backing vocals ;)
I used to love watching the various groups perform on the Ed Sullivan show. Gladys Knight and the Pips were one of my favorites.
As an adult, I would have dance parties in my living room with my besties. This was ALWAYS one of songs we'd re-enact. I was always The Pips. I know every lyric.
I wanted to be smooth like The Pips. Being Caucasian, uncoordinated, and not able to carry a tune never got in the way of having the time of my life.
The best of times.
